I think pro football is experiencing the same shift the rest of the world is. The hard-nosed, abrasive, control freak boss is in some ways becoming extinct. It's become about empathy, feelings, and safe spaces. I think this is what Lombardi was talking about. People seem to be hiring company men, who are good guys to work with. Bienemy, Kingsbury, Vrable, Belli not getting jobs i think reflects that. Maybe it isn't winning above all anymore?

They got rid of Ron Rivera and hired Ron Rivera. Hofstra Football having a good offseason though with him and Raheem Morris. Also happy that Bill and Vrabel will still be available next offseason. Y'know, just in case.

Three Potential Landing Spots For Tee Higgins
MrEpsYtown replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the Titans are pretty obvious. They have a ton of cap space. Callahan the new HC there, QB on a rookie contract, Higgins is from Tennessee, and he gets to play with fellow Clemson alum DeAndre Hopkins. The only thing that gives me pause is does he want to play with a young, yet-to-be-established QB. -
Caldwell could be the new linebackers coach, unless he wants to go back to the Bucs.
-
My view is that they have a bunch of skill players and a ton of picks which includes the 2nd pick in the draft. So a coach coming in essentially gets to draft his own QB, has guys like McLaurin, Dotson, and B. Robinson, plus 2 excellent DTs, 5 top 100 picks, and their 6th is 102. So 6 draft picks in the top 102. So if you are a coach you have a ton of picks, including the QB to choose, some established big-time players, and a roster whose average age is 26. Plus an owner with money and 83 million in cap space. It's a great job They gave up Montez who they didn't want to pay for a high 2nd rounder, and an underachieving Chase Young who may be a healthy scratch for the Super Bowl. Gave up all their talent is overstated.

Ok gotcha. That's insane. I have to give Saleh and Douglas a pass then. -

Saleh and Douglas sold their souls and let Rodgers run the team. Hackett is complete garbage but will continue to get jobs because of nepotism. Rodgers took this young hungry roster and made these guys add slow old players. This thing was never going to work. But blame goes to the Gm and Saleh for allowing it to happen. -
I haven't dove in much, but I'd be on the lookout for players who are fast, and smart, and I am looking for guys who used to play quarterback who understand coverages and option routes like an Edelman.

Probably smart, though I thought that Washington job was a pretty good one.

I love it.

So Carmichael to the Broncos. I still think Sean Ryan makes a lot of sense. He is freely available working for a college I believe.

who is a must have on this list of Bills UFA?
MrEpsYtown replied to Coldfronts's topic in The Stadium Wall
To my naked eye, it looked like they got away from that a bit towards the end of the year. I felt like Oliver was in there a lot more than he was in earlier in the regular season. I agree with you. Oliver should be like 90% of the snaps and DQ probably around 75. -
I wish there was a trade to be made for Aiyuk, maybe a DB and some picks. Not sure why the 9ers would move him, but he will be pretty expensive going forward with a lot of money tied up in veterans on their team, especially at the skill positions. I'm sure they would find a way to make it work with a very cheap QB on the books. But a guy like Aiyuk would be a great fit with Josh.

Bills interview Mike Caldwell for Open DC Job
MrEpsYtown replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Watching the Jaguars the few times I did, Caldwell very much seems like hybrid guy, which isn’t the worst thing. But he’s had some good influences, playing for Belichick and Saban in Cleveland, Jim Johnson and McDermott, as well as Ron Rivera, Leslie Frazier and Steve Spangolo in Philly. He also has experience coaching under Todd Bowles. So an interesting guy to add to the staff. -
In my life anyone named Mac, Braden, Riley, Taylor have always been massive douchebags.
-
Yeah, I like Carmichael. I think it is a no-brainer. Haley I threw out there as an outside-the-box guy. He was with the Steelers for awhile, then had 1 year with Hue Jackson's Browns and has since been coaching in the USFL. Just to add Haley is a Bill Parcells guy who got his start under him with the Jets before following Parcells and Sean Payton to Dallas. So there should be crossover and familiarity there.

I typically am a height-weight-speed type of guy, but I don't care anymore. I just want smart people (running the right routes) and blazing fast. Speed kills and we have none.

See I made a joke about McConkey being popular on the board and no one seemed to get it besides @Clyde Smith and @DrDawkinstein But here we are. Getting ready to hear about him a lot this offseason. Cooper DeJean too...and of course Ricky Pearsall.

Just hire Pete Carmichael Jr. He was really good for the Saints for many years and he's a super experienced sounding board for Joe Brady who has extensive knowledge of the system. He would be a great extra pair of eyes for Brady and Carmichael was with Drew Brees for a long time back to their San Diego days, so I have to give him some credit for what Brees did in NO. I think an experienced coach is what he needs. He's been coached by kids ever since Daboll left. Sean Ryan was the QB coach in Carolina and worked for Bill O'Brien, Tom Coughlin etc. I don't know about his style, but he is also an experienced name out there. Former Eagles OC, Brian Johnson would be a nice get if he doesn't get a job as an OC somewhere. Outside the box thinking, Todd Haley is known to be pretty abrasive, is an E-P coach, and could do good things for Josh, or he could ruin him. I could also see Thad Lewis coming over if the Bucs bypass him for the OC position. He is a young guy, so I am not sure that is ideal.

So here is a breakdown of Brady's LSU stuff. Looks to be a mix of wide spread stuff and compressed bunch formations which is a lot of what we saw towards the end of the year. https://www.stateoftheu.com/2022/1/28/22904266/miami-hurricanes-football-film-review-joe-brady-bunch-sets-as-oc-rumors-come-full-circle-cristobal A breakdown of his smash of stuff. A lot of this stuff looks familiar.
