  1. But people are using that stat and it is just a dumb stat. It says very little. If he throws 10-15, 5 yard bubble screens ala Mayfield, Rudolph, Darnold, then his completion percentage is over sixty. The guy was running a pro style offense that isn't one read and throw to a wide open guy. It involved running the ball and using play action. People are failing to see the whole picture. He's good enough to be a top ten pick in the opinion of pretty much the entire NFL, but he isn't good enough for a bunch of blog writers and message board guys on the internet? It's comical. I get that he has flaws, but using the completion percentage stat is just dumb. Outside of Rosen, his footwork is better than the rest of these guys. He has, by far, the strongest arm. He made full field reads. He is faster and more athletic than the guy who is 5 inches shorter and weights 30 pounds less. His upside is huge. People who can't see this are blinded by their own bias and the fact that they didn't get their guy and they are clinging to 56%.
  2. I really hope to see very little of Humber. He was terrible and it was so obvious. Every time something went wrong on defense, even if it wasn't Milano's fault, it seemed like McDermott threw Humber out there, like he was going to stop the bleeding. He's awful. It annoyed me that McDermott didn't trust Milano. Young guys like Milano and Stanford will make mistakes, but at least they are awesome athletes and will make plays. Tyrod played terrible in that Jacksonville game, but I still think we ultimately lost because Humber and Preston were our linebackers and they were too darn slow to get to a scrambling Bortles. (Milano was hurt for that one). I don't want to see Humber anywhere outside of special teams.
  3. I still think it is funny that no one is saying anything about the tape. They are just posing statistics and have latched on to the bad completion percentage. As Diler said, completion percentage should not be the metric for accuracy. It seems some people latched on to the 56% an just never looked back. Statistics like those are so anti-analystics.
  4. I think Bowman is the best of what is on the market but I think he will be expensive. Whoever we bring in is likely to be a 2 down player only and needs to be an upgrade over Lorax at the Sam. Cushing makes sense and has a relationship with John Butler our DB coach. Karlos Dansby used to be a long athletic player like Edmunds and could be an interesting mentor type. I also think Lawrence Timmons could fit as well. All of them are more middle backer than Sam backer, but they could all work. If Lorax is going to start there, there is no need really, but I think we could use an upgrade there.
  5. Having Bob Babich as his coach is huge. There aren't too many better than him. He turned Brian Urlacher into a Hall of Famer, turned Lance Briggs into one of the best in the league, made Poz so much better in Jacksonville, and developed Telvin Smith, a fifth round pick who is now probably top five linebackers in the league. Edmunds might be the best piece of clay he's ever worked with. Edmunds is basically the same size as Urlacher but a little faster. Remember Urlacher was a converted safety so he was very raw at the start as well. I love the Edmunds pick.
  6. I would love the signing, but once you start getting into that 5 per million range you are getting closer to the Clint Bolings of the world. I just can't pay Joeckel that. I think he would have to take a 1 year deal at around 3-4 million, or prabaly something like 2 years 7 million with. He got paid 8 million last year based on his potential, now I think he has to prove it.
  7. I really like Milano, the one thing I would say is keep an eye on Julian Stanford. I was against his signing initially, but this guy is a ridiculous athlete and will push Milano for playing time. IMO Stanford could play Will or Mike, and might be passable at SAM as well. I think he is going to push for playing time.
  8. I honestly think he should come much cheaper. He was huge bust but looked pretty good at guard this year. He is coming off a season ending injury. So coming off injury, inconsistent career....I don't think he can expect 5-6 million a year, especially at this point in the offseason. One other guy who makes some sense is Alex Boone, who has been mentioned a few times in here. Now that we don't have a midget quarterback, I wouldn't mind bringing in a 6-8 guard. I prefer the youth and upside of Joeckel though.
  9. Yes he's a guard now and Robinson was tried there as well. Joeckel is a great fit for what we do imo. He actually played pretty well in Seattle before he got hurt, and he should come cheap at this point.
  10. Just havin some fun. Usually it's just because they might remind you of someone you know.
  11. Honestly he looks more like a Nick than a Matt.
  12. I dunno. Dr. Fong was implying Rudolph is a solid back up. I'm not sure he will active at all this year. I get what you are saying, but you could replace Jones with pretty much anybody in free agency next year. They didn't have to go and spend that 3rd round pick on a QB. I've said it a few times, but Rudolph will never replace Big Ben or be good enough for that city. He's the ugly girl you date to bounce back after the hot one dumps you. He's Todd Collins. To me it doesn't matter who replaces Big Ben, because he won't be good enough. It's the guy who is drafted to replace Rudolph who will actually be the new franchise quarterback. That ugly girl could have been Jones or Dobbs or whatever. They didn't have to go and spend a third on this guy. Obviously, it's just my opinion, but I agree with Big Ben.
  13. I think it is promising. I like the secondary a lot. I like Neal and I think the Johnson kid is interesting. Gaines seems to have some upside as well. The Bush signing assures we won't be playing a street FA safeties like Shamarko Thomas or Trae Elston in critical spots. However, if any of our four starters get hurt, we are still in a pretty risky spot. I love Edmunds and Milano. That SAM spot is meh. I mean Lorax was bad there and there is pretty much no one else on the roster to play there. We could sign a MIkE and play Edmunds there, but I hate that idea. The Saints did is with AJ Klein last year. He was the Sam in base sets and moved to Mike in Nickel and Dime sets. I don't like the idea of asking a raw rookie to do that. I want to plug Edmunds in at Mike for the next 10-12 years and never look back. I think it makes some sense to add a grizzled vet there. Bowman, Dansby, Cushing (he can certainly help Edmunds bulk up ). Essentially our Sam is only going to play about 30-40 percent of the snaps as a two down player like Lorax did last year, so it's likely they just stick with him. Not sure I love that idea though. Dline im good with the four defensive ends but I still think we might struggle to create pressure up the middle with only Kyle as a penetrator. Hopefully Phillips can do some of that as well. I think guys like Lawson or even Lorax are going to have to rush on guards in sub packages. I kind of wish Washington was better and Palepoi is JAG.
  14. They will not be playing a 200 lb safety at SAM. I like Neal, but he does not have the size or length to play there. I think he could be a sub package backer, but won't play there in base imo. I also think Kyle definitely starts.
  15. I wouldn't call a rookie who has never taken a snap under center, has marginal talent, and needs a ton of work, a solid backup. The Foles thing was a blessing because he had been around awhile, knew the offense from his time with Andy Reid and had experienced success and failure in the NFL. I know the hot narrative is now "the Eagles won a Super Bowl with a backup." All backup situations are not created equal. The Foles situation was a perfect storm.
  16. I think he needs to prove he can stay healthy. McDermott rotated the defensive line a lot last year, as he did in Carolina, so I think we will see a lot of Shaq. I actually think he will split more time with Hughes, than he does with Murphy. I actually think that keeping Hughes fresh will allow him to do a lot more on passing situations. Anyway, I think people are a little too tough on Shaq. He's been hurt and played out of position. I don't think he will ever be a Joey Bosa type of player, maybe more of a Carlos Dunlap type of solid run defender who will give you a few sacks. Having Hughes-Murphy-Shaq-Yarborough is better than see Cap Capi rushing the passer in the playoffs. Depth here is essential.
  17. He says it was common knowledge among the "rank and file" people in the know. Not the general public. I suppose he feels it wasn't newsworthy to report on until this point. It would be almost inappropriate for them to report that Russ was having an inappropriate, yet consensual sexual relationship with an employee. It almost crosses into libel or defamation. Now that he has resigned, it is newsworthy, but up until this point it really wasn't.
  18. He's a dick, but he is right. If you are trying to win now you use that third rounder to help try to win a Super Bowl.
  19. Yep I've said it a few times, but replacing a legend when you have marginal talent is not an ideal place to be. Especially if said legend does not want you there. Rudolph will be on waivers in three years.
  20. Haha lol. TBD can be heartless and demanding, but is nothing compared to NY media. Their illogical fans and ridiculous Daily News writers are just going to destroy the kid.
  21. I was huge Allen fan at last year's draft. I was happy the Bills passed on that class. I thought we would tank and wind up with my dream #1 pick, Josh Allen. I wasn't sure if it was possible, but I loved his upside. To me he was the quarterback we've needed for such a long time. I'm old school a bit. I believe in size, strength, speed, arm strength, hand size and all of that stuff. I think the wind, more than cold, is a factor in Buffalo and I think this guy was made to play here. Fast forward around 6-8 months and I really fell in love with Rosen. With the hire of Daboll, I thought he would be the perfect person to operate that system. Alas he wasn't the pick. Deep down I felt I was almost cheating on Allen. I was dissapointed for a second, then I realized they picked the guy I really wanted in the first place. My buddy was like...trust your gut dude. So that's where I am. I would have been happy with any of Darnold, Rosen or Allen. Bottom line, I got my real true love and I couldn't be happier.
  22. Unless this guy is perfect, NY media is going to kill him. I feel bad. I liked him. The Jets blow.
  23. At 6-2, 183, he's a bit skinny, but still bigger than Baker Mayfield
  24. IMO for DROY it's going to be Chubb. He's going to get many sacks playing across from Von Miller.
  25. Agreed, but I would not feel good about the idea that all of the other teams in the league determined he was a third round pick (despite what the Steelers are telling us).
