It's probably a bit of both. But this has been a really long recovery for him. He looks like he is playing very slow, but I think that will get better with time. He played in the snow and then a team with a pretty good run game. The DL did a pretty awful job on gap integrity all game and that is part of the reason Milano and Bernard struggled IMO.

Douglas has not looked good. Elam scares me, but I would like to see what he can do here at some point.

Yeah that's an absolutely absurd stat. It should go right into that thread comparing McD to Tom Landry etc. Reading this thread I am pretty much lock-step with you @HappyDays McDermott just ain't it. And it sucks because he has pulled the team out of that horrible place of purgatory and I loved the hire at the time. But the team is now to the point where they win in spite of him. Josh continues to stay humble and take it on the chin, but he has to know, deep down, that if we had a top coach in here, he likely has already won a Super Bowl. The way things went down yesterday I would fire him right now. What is different between how he handled the end of that game and how Eberflus handled his? Nothing. Just awful clock management. But aside from all that, my biggest gripe is just the complacency. I think it was Erin Andrews pregame who said something along the lines of "McDermott met with his team and asked them how they want to handle the last five weeks of the season." Is he serious? I went nuts and my wife yelled at me. The idea that this coach actually brought forth the option to pack it in is lunacy. They should be pedal to the metal, balls to the wall all the time regardless of the opponent or the situation. After hearing that I immediately assumed they would come out flat, and of course they did. And those flat games have just happened so much that you really can only blame one person. This is Tony Dungy-Jon Gruden, Buck Showalter-Joe Torre, Doug Collins-Phil Jackson. McDermott is literally Tony Dungy...sometimes a guy takes a team as far as he can and a move needs to be made. McDermott is hitting that expiration date.

Spags is older like Bill and that's where the compassion ends. He doesn't have multiple SB titles and Spags failed miserably in his first go-around as a head coach. KC assistants have also mostly flamed out. Teams are not going to take that risk on him again.

Wait so he's not too old etc etc etc? All that stuff from the other thread... He's a coach. He wants to coach. I am a coach and I can say from experience when you don't coach, while your life is 100 times easier, you feel like there is a hole in your soul and something is missing.

Just to add, post-game when everyone was all gaga over the 5 straight division titles, when McDermott brought Terry Pegula over he, the owner mentioned that one championship that has eluded them. That's significant to me. That has to happen IMO.

He's a coach and probably wants one more run I would think. If he stepped away I would agree with you, but he got pushed out. Then Atlanta turned him down. To me, this is a prime spot, step in and get them over the hump if McDermott can't.

I expressed my thoughts in the other McDermott thread. But this is a really amazing feat for sure, especially considering how things were going last year. I hope he can take us to the promised land. My answer to your question is Bill Belichick. That's it IMO. That's the only guy who is available and would walk in and we would win a Super Bowl. I hate him as much as everyone else, it's making a deal with the devil. But that's the only other answer aside from staying the course.

He has to coach every game the way he coached the KC game. He trusted his all-world quarterback and stayed aggressive and played to win. I fear that he will turn into Dick Jauron milquetoast redux against a team like the Patriots and we lose a game we should win and miss out on the 1 seed. If he stays the course, continues to have fun with his team and continues to have buy-in from these guys, I am good. But deep down, they need to win a Super Bowl and I am still not convinced he can get them over that hump. How he handles huge games against LA and Detroit coming up will confirm to me that he has the intestinal fortidue to make the tough decisions and play to win, not to "not lose." So to answer your question, I am still not sold, but my view is starting to change.

Josh Reynolds could be an interesting add just being waived by the Broncos. With the Rams and Lions coming up back to back he was with both teams for quite some time and could probably help in the red zone a bit. We still have nagging injuries at that position.

He sucks. Same stance I have had on him for awhile.

I haven't really looked too deeply into all this, but does it have anything to do with how Kincaid is being defended vs how Knox is? With all the option routes the team runs, it does make sense that teams might be taking away the deeper stuff on Kincaid and everything is turning into short routes.

Knox seems revitalized with more opportunities. So watching the Raiders for the first time all year, I love how they used Brock Bowers. He was all over the place, in line, out wide, in the slot, in the backfield. I not trying to be nitpicky here, I am very happy with our offense and the Bills should not be taking pointers from the Raiders.... but Kincaid is not really a traditional tight end and I would love to see him used the way Bowers is, I think that would expand his impact. Knox is the better traditional tight end for sure, but they can both coexist and I think we are just scratching the surface of what Kincaid can do.

Van Denmark was awesome. I thought he did a great job. Athleticism is obvious and he did a really nice job against Karlaftis who has given us issues in the past. Plus he played a very clean game whereas Spencer Brown, and I love him, is good for one or two idiotic things per game. He may have lost his cool in this one. Van Denmark just played a very steady game.

There was a run on receivers starting with Thornton. George Pickens, Alec Pierce, I think Sky Moore then the Bills trade back twice. It would be interesting because they already added Lewis Cine as a formerly highly drafted throw away guy from that draft.

Kick the tires for sure. There is that Dave Aranda connection as well. Sometimes guys like this hit at their second spot where there is no draft pedigree pressure. Fast, slight of build, but interesting buy low.

Let's just try to remember this in FA when we clamor for the bottom of the roster garbage. Dudes like this are dime a dozen players and vet minimum guys. MVS was interesting because of his size and speed, but you're still better off with young guys who cost nothing. Pay the elite players, everyone else is expendable.

Yeah he makes sense as a short-term replacement for Smoot, since he has that inside-outside flex. I just don't think he is very good, but I could see it happening.

It makes sense. Brady is a Sean Payton guy and the NO Saints people know him. I do think New Orleans should blow it up and sever ties to the past organizations.

I would do a Kupp trade just for how well he would fit with the offensive concepts. But he has been hurt quite a bit and is on the downturn. I am not sure I do a second. Maybe a second for a 4th and Kupp. JMO
