He's been hurt a lot, but what I saw today was a pocket collapsing in from poor tackle play. Again two top ten picks, plus Josh Kline and Quinton Spain who is probably a premier free agent guard this offseason. Something there isn't working. Honestly I just think they don't have enough talent on offense outside of Corey Davis.

He ran a 4.44 at 230 lbs so there is certainly something there. But I think it's all about Sean Payton finding and athlete and being creative. Unfortunately, Hill would never work here because he is a Mormon. Not McDermott's cup of tea. ??

Im just saying, the dude is always hurt. Thats the point I was trying to make in the Jonah Williams thread. They spent two top ten picks on bookend tackles and he still gets his ass kicked. Using premier picks on linemen doesn't always help.

100 percent this. Even though Peterman sucks, he did understand the offense. This makes sense as a move for intel.

I have to respectfully disagree. Aside from a couple of elite players, a lot of those guys are busts. I listed 18 guys. Out of them Smith and Johnson are elite. That's two guys and they happen to be elite athletes. Matthews, Lewan, Stanley, Conklin, Scherff, and Nelson are very good to great. I can't call Nelson elite yet because it's too early, but he's probably is. But they all have some issues and, aside from Johnson, haven't won their teams anything. Out of that entire list, there is 1 super bowl winning lineman. Two if you count Chance Warmack on the Eagles, who btw is a massive bust and played 4 snaps in the big game. McClinchey has been ok. My main point is do not draft guards or right tackles in the top ten unless they are elite. Even then it may not help. Joe Thomas might be one of the best tackles of all time. He played on the same line with one of the best centers of all time in Alex Mack. That sure did the Browns a lot of good. Anthony Munoz's teams never won anything. The teams with with the highest graded lines this year, Steelers, Packers, Rams...none of them have a top ten drafted offensive linemen on their team. To me, it is a poor use of assets. Late first, to early second is where you get value with linemen. You have to find pieces that fit. Top ten picks are lottery tickets that should not be used to plug holes. If you want to plug holes, trade down. If Jonah Williams is a can't miss elite player, I'm good with it. But if there are question marks about him, it is a poor use of assets and not worth the risk. Again, this is simply my opinion and philosophy when it comes to the draft.

Just look at top ten offensive lineman the last few years. 2018- Nelson has been very good but was advertised as elite. McGlinchey has been okay at RT. 2017- none. First guy taken was Garret Bolles and he has been awful. 2016- Ronnie Stanley looks pretty good as does Conklin. Both have been hurt. Neither team has won anything. 2015- Scherff looks like an excellent RG but isn't hurt. Team has won nothing. Erick Flowers was #9 overall. Think the Giants want that one back. 2014- Greg Robinson anyone? Jake Mathews has been okay and helped team get to the SB. Lewan was #11 and is very good but been injured. 2013- Lane Johnson has been excellent and helped his team win a SB. The rest? Fisher, Joeckel, Cooper, Warmack. Gross. DJ Fluker went #11, also a terrible pick. 2012- Matt Khalil...terrible. Think the Vikings would rather have Luke Keuchly or Fletcher Cox? 2011 - Tyron Smith, elite left tackle. No Super Bowls. Again, I know this is an imperfect sample, but when you look at the best offensive lines in football, their guys come from all over the draft. You need to find the pieces that fit. Unless you are getting a guaranteed elite talent, don't blow the pick on offensive linemen. I know there are busts at other positions, but the majority of talented lineman in the leaugue do not come from the top ten of the draft.

Our 3-7 (worst team in the league who can't beat Alabama) team also kicked the crap out of them and they couldn't move our defense at all. I get what you are saying, but they will never win a Super Bowl because they don't have a enough talent. I'm thinking big picture, and they haven't won squat.

I don't mind drafting Williams there, but he better be elite. A high first round pick needs to be used on quarterbacks, edge players, elite offensive talent, left tackles. I hate the idea of drafting a guard or right tackle that high in the draft. A lot of people point to the Titans drafting Lewan and Conklin, people were very excited about trying to draft Conklin that year and I hated the idea of passing on talent for a right tackle. Where has that gotten them exactly? What about the Cowboys? All of those first round pick lineman has resulted in pretty much nothing aside from a mediocre quarterback looking better than he should (and now they are gonna have to pay him). My point is, this guy better be elite. Otherwise you have to look at other positions. Look at all of the first round linemanover the past few years and you will a large number of busts. I know that happens at every position, but when you see the talent that was passed on to draft right tackles and guards, it is astounding. Never pass on talent to plug holes. Even trading down...that's how you become the Browns. This is coming bing from a former linemen and a current high school line coach.

I think this is interesting information but it really is hard to quantify things. When we did this last year everyone went Chris Trappaso and went all in on Mason Rudolph because we had scouts at a bunch of OK state games. And low and behold we have no OK state players.n

I remember being so happy to get Hardy, but it became obvious rather quickly that our seventh rounder Stevie Johnson was the better prospect. It still took him awhile to get a shot. That was a weird draft for recievers. You had Hardy and Sweed, but also Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. Almost every single mock draft had us taking Kelly or Thomas in the first. So many busts, but then you also had Jordy Nelson, DeSean Jackson, and Pierre Garçon (in the 6th) and Danny Amendola was an UDFA.

If you do a crappy job, you lose your job. He sucked and he lost his job. He deserves the mocking and such. If he didn't want to get mocked, he should have played better. Society has become very apologetic about stuff like this. He sucks so he needs to go bag groceries. You shouldn't feel any worse for him than you do for Gibran Hamdan, or Brian Brohm, or Levi Brown, or whatever other scrub quarterbacks we have seen around here. I'm sure Craig Nall was a nice guy too. But he sucked. No one was crying when he lost his job. The Alex Smith comparison is not a good one. he was the #1 pick in the draft with immense athletic upside. That's why he got a number of extra chances. Peterman was a 5th round pick with little to no athletic upside or talent.

I like Milano a lot, but McDermott will upgrade that position when he gets the chance. If there is a chance to grab a Lavonte David type, he will do it. Also, if this regime gets fired at some point (please no one turn this into a fire McDermott debate, I'm just saying in terms of keeping a long term jersey) and we bring in a 3-4 defense again, Milano will be gone. He is exclusively a 4-3 WILL. He also, technically, will only have two years left on his rookie deal after this season. I think you have to go Edmunds. He is a first round pick they traded up for and very young. He will be around for awhile. The other thing about Edmunds, is that he is scheme versatile. In fact, many draftniks loved him as a 3-4 OLB edge player. He could also play inside in a 3-4 and could probably play defensive end. He's faster than most safeties as well. If at some point there is a regime change and we wind up in a 3-4 again, Edmunds still fits.

The keep writing these articles every year and he keeps proving them wrong. He'll eliminate gluten and dairy and start drinking stem cells like Christopher Reeve in South Park. And he will sell the soul of his youngest to the devil and they will be there again at the end.

I know it's a ways away, but I am interested to see how his free agency pans out. Curious to see who the next sucker is.

Very sad. He seemed to alienate a lot of the people around and he wound up so alone. He pushed them away and they kind of abandoned him. I always believe that the time when a person needs the most love and support is when they are at the bottom. People who are having issues often get pushed away, or push themselves away from family and friends. Those people need to do everything in their power to try and bring that person having issues back in. So please, if you know someone is having mental health issues, drug issues, etc etc, pushing them out is the worst thing you can do because the time when he or she are at the bottom, is the time when they need you the most.

Foster must just be a slow learner or something, because he clearly learned nothing at Alabama for four years either. But he's an explosive athlete and I feel like he will get there. I'd love to bring in Stevie Johnson to be his personal coach and show him how develop some of that route running swagger. Honestly, I didn't realize he was 6-2. I'm excited to watch him develop, hopefully he does.

Levi is just one of those guys who will never test well. That's why he was a walk one and and why he went undrafted. But he is surely a gamer who people will always underestimate. I dot know that he is truly a starting corner in this league, but I will not dare doubt him and I will be cheering every step of the way. He's still faster than Josh Norman. I'm actually more concerned with Levi's bulk than his speed.

I like Deonte but to me he is more of a 3-4 on a contending team. I would have preferred to poach some younger guys off practice squads. I do think Thompson will help us and I can see him catching a few bombs from Josh Allen. I also think having speed on the field with Deonte and Foster stretching it will have the biggest impact on Zay Jones running the intermediate routes. He could wind up with 40/50 catches over the final few games here.

Humber is slow and can't cover anymore. Going to teh Pats isn't going to change that.

I'm having trouble finding interesting 4-3 linebackers on the open market to add depth. This is what I've got: Corey Nelson - former Bronco and Falcon Marquis Flowers - Former Pat and Bengal. He's a converted safety who I think would be a good fit as Milano's backup and a special teams guy. I thought he played well for the Pats when we played them last year. Most recently with the Lions I believe. Nicholas Grigsby - just cut from the Pats. Has good speed and mainly a special teamer Tyrell Adams - projects as SAM and we ironically signed him last year but then cut him because of a failed physical. He was released from injured reserve, so I don't know how healthy he is. He's the guy who blocked that punt in the Texans game this year. I would actually go after Flowers or Adams just to add depth and maybe groom a younger guy to take Lorax's place next year.

Yep this is where I am. A piece of crap among other pieces of crap is now simply a pile of crap. You can keep that together as long as you want, but it will still be a pile of crap.
