I know it's the dreaded Panthers connection, but My first target would be Ricky Proehl. Not sure he would want to leave his business endeavors to do it. Another guy I think would be interesting is Wes Welker. He was a great route runner and is well versed in the offensive system. He just spent a year on the Texans staff as an offensive assistant. He's young, but makes a lot of sense. Shawn Jefferson formerly of the Dolphins is another interesting, youngish former NFL player. He's credited with a lot of Jarvis Landry's development. Jerricho Cotchery is an assistant receiver coach for the Panthers. Another youngish coach who had a successful NFL career despite having little talent. He succeeded by running good routes and catching the ball. He also played for Beane and McDermott, and Brian Daboll when he coached on the Jets staff. I like the the idea of guys who were former NFL players who had successful careers, despite not being supremely talented. They are typically good at teaching the positional nuances needs to be successful.

Gronk likely headed for retirement per Rapoport
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like him a lot as well. You know what's crazy is between Daboll, Rob Boras, and now Bobby Johnson we have tight end experts on staff yet we can't find one. I hope they find a way to target Hockenson. -
Bills sign OT Jeremiah Sirles to 1 year extension
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I'm the Bills I go after Daryl Williams as a starter at right tackle and add a guy like Josh Wells as the swing guy. Wells has played a good amount of left tackle over the years in Jacksonville. Mills as a backup is fine, but I'd worry about him as a swing guy if he actually had to go in a game as a left tackle. -

There is some value in a guy who can play all five offensive line positions. Typically it allows you to dress an extra guy at another position in game day. I'm fine with it. Hopefully he has an uphill battle to make the 53 becuase we add a bunch of good players. -
OT Jonah Williams in the first
MrEpsYtown replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing I have mentioned, and I think I did in this thread somewhere, is that I think Williams could be a really good center. He's got great technique etc, but is bad against speed rushes and gets overpowered at times. This really isn't as much of a problem inside. He is also very smart and has great intangibles. I think he's a center. I'd be willing to draft him in a trade down and I would make him my center. -
OT Jonah Williams in the first

Ive felt this way for a while now. He'd be a huge reach and the amount of talent you'd pass on in terms of defensive linemen would makes this pick even more ludicrous. Never draft non elite linemen in the top ten. Never! -
Bills hire Bobby Johnson as offensive line coach
MrEpsYtown replied to GimmeSomeProcess's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The one thing that I will say in Frazier' defense is that the players absolutely love him. He is a well respected Tony Dungy disciple. I think he just needs to be a bit more aggressive like they were in the Miami game. -
Their biggest issue is going to find 4-3 defensive ends. They don't really have any on the roster. But the rest of their personnel, Williamson, Williams, Lee, Adams etc fit nicely

Gerald McCoy: Cap casualty
MrEpsYtown replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I gotcha. I don't think Phillips is going to cost too much, but I may be wrong. McCoy should get a reasonable deal. -
Gerald McCoy: Cap casualty

Gerald McCoy had his best seasons playing the 3 tech in Leslie Frazier's 4-3 defense. Just saying. -
Gerald McCoy: Cap casualty
MrEpsYtown replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure I agree with that. They play very different positions and Phillips is a depth player. He isn't a full time starter. McCoy is a great player and he's just 30 years old. You could easily sign both. I'd rather draft Williams. Oliver, Simmons, Wilkins, but I would take McCoy in a heartbeat. -
Pretty much the only good thing to come out of the Rex Ryan regime. Maybe Shady too.

Dave DeGugielmo O Line Available
MrEpsYtown replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's a fair concern, but I will say that he was working with a lot of young players in 2015. Shaq Mason and Tre Jackson were rookies. Cam Fleming was young. David Andrews was a rookie I believe and he was awful. And Nate Solder got hurt early. I think it's a blip on his career, but it would not concern me going forward. He seems to be what the line here need and he's likely to be in lock step with Daboll. He is not a Vlad Ducasse guy either. When he was with the Jets there was some internal conflict because the higher ups were making him play Ducasse over Slauson. -
Bills hire Heath Farwell as ST coordinator
MrEpsYtown replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the idea of a young guy with some fresh ideas, who was a special teams captain in his career and won a super bowl with some dynamic special teams. I like this. He also played for Leslie Frazier when he was the DC in Minnesota. So this is more of a Frazier connection than it is a Panthers connection. -
Dave DeGugielmo O Line Available
MrEpsYtown replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dave DeGugielmo is old school and abrasive. He is the anti Castillo and he is exactly what this line needs. He wouldn't stand for a guy like Dawkins getting comfortable. But the guys who play for him love him as he gives them a bit of rough edge. Cool article: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2018/09/21/how-dave-deguglielmo-has-brought-indianapolis-colts-offensive-line-together/1370061002/ Now I don't know if he brings Glowinski, but his guy is Matt Slauson. He's been his guy for a while and would fit nicely between Mitch Morse and Dawkins. I like him because he is the complete opposite of Castillo. He also has some insight into how the Colts gashed our defense in embarrassing fashion. I really want a return to a power running game. -

We should be all over this one I think. -

Future intercontinental champion I'm guessing. His promos will be cringe worthy. Chris Masters esque. Aaron Hernandez was not available. -
It's because they didn't have a quarterback. Quarterback, scheme, defense in that order. Everyone else are role players, running backs, linemen, receivers.
-
I gotta say I am kind of with Mr. Weo. And I think I get what he's saying. Having dominate top ten linemen but a lack of overall talent, like Tennessee with Conklin and Lewan, is like putting lipstick on a pig. It's cool that they are good and PFF likes them, it doesn't mean anything because the team doesn't win. It's kind of the same argument as the Joe Thomas situation. Like it or not, linemen are role players. They can put a team over the top, but they aren't superstars by any means. And I am a big line guy. I was a college lineman and I've been coaching high school linemen for 12 years. There is one top ten lineman left in the playoffs, and its Eric Fisher, and he's okay. Largely considered a bust. The Patriots should sign James Harrison for one game so he can dominate Fisher again. It's about the quarterback, the system, and the defense.

Report: Joe Philbin has interviewed with Bills
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess it was reported Browns, Minnesota, and us. Browns filled OC and OL coach and Minnesota is going the Kubiak way, so I think we are the ones left at the moment. I guess it depends on what teams like the Jets and Bengals do. -

I think the most impressive part of the article is that it seems he transformed Iowa into Offensive Line U. It all started with him, which is pretty cool. -

MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no real connection here, however Philbin falls in the Mike Sherman tree, Sherman worked very closely with Andy Reid way back when. Just coaching tree connections. I'd be okay with Philbin. All I know is that he is a well respected coach. I didn't love his demeanor on those hard knocks shows though. I still prefer Ray Brown. -
O Line and Special Teams Coaches Hiring Wait
MrEpsYtown replied to BubbaT's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks! Brown can bring RT Daryl Williams with him. He was huge for his development during their time in Carolina. Norwell can't really be moved until 2020. Mitch Morse is the best center on the market imo. He plays for KC and is just a really solid, smart player. He's still young as well. -
GB Packers hire Nate Hackett as OC

Yep im interested to see if it was Marrone who was the problem. And I'm assuming he was.
