  1. Basically there are some options in free agency and that is where the line should be built. At center there are three starters: Paradis, Mitch Morse and Nick Easton. Centers: Paradis is has been talked about a lot on here and is a very good player. I do not think he leaves Denver. If he does, I see his most likely landing spot to the Jets. Morse is the guy I really like. He's started a lot of games for Kansas City and he's been hurt a bit this year. His replacements were okay, so maybe KC feels like they can let him walk. But he is an excellent player and has that KC connection. The other guy is Easton, a Harvard alum who can play center and guard. He's been out all year from neck surgery (herniated disc). He could come cheaper and his injury isn't the career threatening type. At guard you you have a few choices like Quinton Spain, Mark Glowinski, AJ Cann amongst others. Any of them would be massive upgrades at the guard spot. At right tackle I am eyeing two guys. Daryl Williams has the Carolina connection and has missed he entire season with a knee injury. He is massive and has graded out very well early in his career. Massive upgrade. The other guy guy who is a bit under the radar is Josh Wells of Jacksonville. He has played a lot of left and right tackle over the past couple of years because of the various injuries in Jacksonville. He's been injured himself this year as well. But the guy has a lot of game experience and I think deserves a shot to start at right tackle somewhere. In a perfect world you get a center, guard and tackle in free agency and that allows you to truly go BPA in ten draft regardless of need and position. With our cap space it is certainly doable.
  2. I think assets need o be spend on both offense and defense. Barr is an interesting player, but I'd rather just use a draft pick and take Josh Allen, who is younger and going to be cheaper. I always thought Anthony Barr was kind of soft. I think teh offensive line needs to be fixed in free agency. The best thing for Josh Allen is to have a veteran line in front of him. I also think we grab a reciever and secondary piece like Eric Rowe who can play corner, safety, and slot. I think you draft defensive line and linebackers this year, because that is where the strength lies. I don't believe in drafting offensive lineman high unless they are a guy like Quentin Nelson who has literally no flaws in his game. I don't like this receiving class either. I think you sign a C (Morse or Easton), a guard (Cann or Glowinski) and right tackle (Daryl Williams or Josh Wells). Grab a receiver like Chris Conley. I think you still draft one somewhere, but you have to grab one in FA. And you sign a tight end or two. Resign Matt Barkley to be the backup. Use your draft picks to go pure BPA and get some younger players on the defensive line.
  3. All very valid points. But think you may have missed my point. I was trying to say the trade up for Zay was stupid and short sighted because there were like 5-6 comparable receivers on the board at the time of the trade up. They forced that pick when they didn't' need to and lost assets doing so. Same with the trade up for Sammy and Reggie Ragland, and Dion Dawkins as well. One could argue the Tremaine trade up is one as well. LVE, Evans etc were still on the board, but the Bills moved up for him because they felt they were getting a top ten talent who dropped a bit. I'm simply saying that that thought process doesn't make a ton of sense. You still have to develop the player but trading up to grab a guy who is similar in potential to 5-6 guys who are still on the board is a poor way to use assets.
  4. Yeah I think the issue Sammy thing is the idea of the trade up in a really good wide reciever draft class. They made a mistake on the player, but, as you said, that happens. I think the issue is more the thought process of making the move. Same with JP Losman. They reached on the 4th best quarterback in the draft and they forced the pick when they just could have waited a bit, or waited a year. Like I said, teh player did not work out, but the thought process on the trade up is the problem. Trading up for Zay Jones when Cooper Kupp, JuJu, Curtis Samuel, Dede Westbrook and Chris Godwin are still on the board. Forcing a move and a reach to get TJ Graham. Forcing the move up for Reggie Ragland when you could have gotten Nick Vigil, Blake Martinez or Joe Schobert later. Those are the issues to me.
  5. Yeah forcing the Losman pick and missing out on Rodgers is huge. And the trade up for Sammy and not Mack. To me those are the ergregious gaffes that have really held the franchise back. Losman one being #1. A lot of people passed on Brady so it is what it is. Dareus pick was one that no one questioned at the time and most felt he might be the best plAyer in the draft. In fact most mocks had us getting Von Miller because no one thought the Broncos would pass on Marcell.
  6. And while mental health and addiction are obviously serious issues as we've discussed in this thread, can everything he's done really be blamed on mental health issues? It seems like a bit of a stretch to me. I really recommend people read that SI article. Especially people who are defending him. I'd like to hear their thoughts after reading. And I'm not trying be an ass, I am genuinely curious about others' take on the article.
  7. Definitely an interesting topic. To me Hughes is nowhere near a guy like Mack, who is just a freak, who plays with a violence and edge about him. He just beats people with sheer violence. He beats the piss out of them. Jerry has a few moves and is a good rush player. His game is more finesse to me. He has a great first step and outside move. He also has a great inside counter spin. That's kind of it. He doesn't use his hands the way Mack does. He doesn't show the variety of pass rushing moves that a guy like Joey Bosa has. When Jerry plays against athletic tackles who take away his outside move and his counter spin, he is toast. He just doesn't have the technique, sheer strength, and athletic ability of Mack imo. Mack is really the closest thing I have seen to Reggie White just embarrassing guys and throwing them around like rag dolls. Jerry is relentless and has anedge to him. But he ain't anywhere near Mack.
  8. Thanks for posting. I don't know if anybody clicked the link here and read the SI article, but it does not paint Gordon in a positive light. If you did not like him before, you might actually like him less after reading. The author does imply that his handler seems to be manipulating him. It's hard to have empathy for the things that Gordon has done. It does not sound that he is all that sorry about them either. I don't know when his mental health issues started, but the crimes he's committed, the shooting, stealing, robbing cars, etc etc do not paint a pretty picture. I did not read this as a the story of a guy who had been "manipulated and used his entire life." That's just my conclusion, but I definitely recommend reading it and I am curious what others think after reading it.
  9. Interested to hear Bruce Arians do some work. Not a Gumble fan, but Trent Green is okay.
  10. Josh seems so genuine to me. A lot of times when players are in these situations it seems awkward or unnatural. Not saying they are bad guys, but sometimes it seems like they are there because the organization is making them. Josh seems to genuinely enjoy do this type of thing. He seems so happy and grateful to be in the NFL. I mean how can anybody root against this guy? He's got confidence and swagger, but a natural and genuine humility about him.
  11. I am sorry if I offended, but I simply don't believe this guy and I think a lot of people have a hard time believing him. I didn't mean to offend, I was simply stating that a lot of people don't recognize Gordon's issues as a mental health issue. Are those people wrong? Yes. Is he lying? In my opinion, probably. Should he be given the benefit of the doubt? At this point, I say no. That's kind of where I stand on Gordon's situation, so I apologize if I hit a nerve. I just think that it is situations like his that cause people to lack sensitivity for mental health issues.
  12. He smokes pot and is using mental health as an excuse. One of the reasons people struggle recognizing mental health as a legit issue is the guys like this who will use it as a crutch.
  13. I mean I don't blame him. He really never was a true #1 and got overpaid because the Bills paid him. But he has not been worth it at all. From day 1 he was more of a full back and doesn't have the length and height to excel in teh middle of field. Plus he's had injury issues. I wouldn't be surprised if he is completely out of the league next year. He's a good blocker, but so was Lee Smith. Smith by the way has three more touchdowns than Clay this year. Lee has three touchdowns. Clay has zero.
  14. I think he used to be one. I don't think he is anymore. There are a few teams around the league that actually have two tight ends who are better than him. I think he is more in the 40 range.
  15. Slurping Butters' Creamy Goo from a straw
  16. Now Devin Smith is a name I haven't heard in a bit. If he's healthy, he is a great fir for what Josh Allen can do. Smith is a chuck it and go get it guy. Perhaps him working out for the Bucs means he is healthy. We should take a look.
  17. Agreed. It appears that us and the front office are not on the same page. People have been calling for us to go after guys like Daurice Fountain, Lazard, Tanner Gentry, yet they look another way. I wonder what it is that they are looking for because guys like Fountain and Lazard were freely available and now are playing on active rosters that have better receivers than we do. I don't get it.
  18. He's on the smaller side, but teh dude put up some ridiculous numbers. I know the game is different, but he is very interesting. There is a little Kurt Warner in his story. He should go somewhere where he has a chance to compete or a place like NY Giants or Patriots who are going to need a replacement soon.
  19. I guess my point is that we seem to always be trying to develop a superstar tight end, while never having a serviceable tight end. I'd like them to add a couple of guys who played tight end in college rather than trying so many conversions.
  20. Nobody watches that crap anyways. Who cares. After eighteen quarterbacks bow out of the game, Josh Allen will probably wind up representing the AFC alongside Jeff Driskel and former pro bowler Tuhrod Taylor.
  21. Swoope is interesting but I really would like us to find an actual real tight end somewhere, not an H back, or converted reciever, basketball player, quarterback. Woodside and Bo Levi Mitchell are relatively interesting guys as #3 guys for next year. Both are on the small side, but kind of interesting.
  22. Bill Teerlink only has the job because his dad was a legend. I'd like to see a more experienced coach working with these guys. Promoting from within after Miek Waufle retired seemed lazy and short sighted. The defensive line should be better than they are. I don't feel Teerlink is getting teh job done. If Dan Quinn gets fired in Atlanta, I'd love to see if he'd come here to be a D-line coach and Assistant head coach, or even replace Leslie Frazier. He and Sean McDermott go way back to William and Mary days.
  23. Foster is just such an interesting case. Obviously there have been many UDFA success stories in the NFL in the past. But typically those are guys who were very successful college players who get overlooked for some reason by the NFL wether it be speed, level of competition, whatever. Foster is the opposite, a big time recruit, a guy who did very little in his college career, went undrafted, and is putting up good numbers. He has more recieving yards this year than he had his entire college career. To me it is such an interesting case and I can't think of any others like it. Even Matt Cassel, who didn't even play in college much got drafted in the seventh round.
  24. I gotta be honest, I am starting to lean this way. When you look at statistics, guys like Jerry Rice, TO, Michael Irvin etc dropped a lot of passes. But they had all world talent that made up for it. It's fine to drop 3 or 4 balls when you are catching 7 and making all world plays. Point being, Zay isn't good enough to drop the ball. He doesn't offer the speed and playmaking ability or upside those guys did, or even Foster or McKenzie do. You don't live with drops from a guy like Zay.
  25. This definitely seems like the wrong forum for this type of thing. Nothing would give me more than them never winning anything else. Hopefully Brady sticks around way too long and is a shell of his former self. I want to see him deteriorate.
