Good soldier but time to move on.
-
Well hopefully this means Curl is signing with the Bills
-
If they signed him for league minimum, under that 1.7 million comp number, then great. Good depth. Anything more than that is ridiculous. To me these are the types of signings you make in June after the draft.
-
If ya want, go back and watch him vs the Bills. He was awful. Late hit on Allen, then he called out Josh saying he’s a crybaby or something. Then he had a cheap shot on Diggs. He was also the guy 5 yards behind Cook on the pass he dropped. This is a nothing, nobody signing.
-
Bills don’t use a Sam. It’s a 4-2-5
-
He’s terrible. I mean I guess he helps on teams and adds veteran depth, but he’s not much better than AJ Klein
-
As usual the Ravens are going to crush it.
-
I like it. Basically could replace Harty and Sherfield with one guy.

NFL Admits Mistake, Bengals get 3rd Rnd Comp Pick
MrEpsYtown replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems like this system may be broken. -
I think its pretty much apples to apples. I liked the idea of YGM because he hasn't played a lot of straight end and I thought we were going to lose AJ. But yeah I am with you. I like the sack production and high-impact plays that have come from AJ in limited play time. Hopefully, he plays more and takes it up a notch.
-
You just never know with defensive ends. Gross Matos got 2/18 and he and AJ are similar. Gross Matos has been more productive in terms tackles, but AJ has more sacks and impact plays. They are the same age, same draft etc. Matos probably more upside, but with Edge guys you just never know what the value is going to be.

It's a step back for sure. But we have Josh so we will still make the playoffs and be in the thick of it. But barring a Mahomes torn ACL, and an amazing draft, we aren't winning a Super Bowl

I posted this in another thread about soccer. Simmons and Curl are the elite guys left imo. I do think there is a chance they are in on Justin Simmons or Kamren Curl. To me, those are both elite guys. Simmons is a top 5 safety. Curl is a great fit, excellent and is about to turn 25. After that, you have younger guys in that 25-27 range like Julian Blackmon, Jordan Whitehead, Mike Edwards, K'Von Wallace, and Jordan Fuller. I think we likely get one in this group and I like Blackmon a lot. I think he is an awesome fit in what we do defensively. He's a former corner who reminds me of Micah Hyde. Disappointing young guys like Jeremy Chinn and Ashtyn Davis. If you add these guys, I still think you have question marks in the secondary. 30+ vets like Eddie Jackson and Rayshawn Jenkins.

I am curious to see what the real money is for Jones, but I am not sure I love many of the alternatives on the market. They have been trying to find a guy like this for a long time and I am okay with them bringing him back at that price. The injury is a concern, but aside from this injury and an injury in his rookie year, he has been pretty remarkably healthy. I hear you on your concerns. I don't think this team can win a Super Bowl with their HC, so I am definitely against the idea of running it back, and it does appear that is what we are doing. I think we will still add a veteran safety. I think the WR room will look different, but those changes will come via the draft. I get the Chiefs stuff, but they are going to pay an overrated corner the franchise tag, and IMO the contract they gave to Drue Tranquill is way worse than the one given to Taylor Rapp. Chris Jones is worth the money he got, but Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith will be free agents next year and they still don't have a left tackle. The brain trust has tried it all ways and failed. Draft young guys, and let them learn on the fly. That didn't work. Add high-end free agents like Von Miller and Star Lotulelei. That didn't work. Add mid-level free agents to complement the roster like Tim Settle and Trent Murphy...that didn't work. So it appears they are trying the "bring back our own guys and hope they develop approach." This and they will complement the roster with a bunch of rookies through the draft and hope it works. With their cap situation, this appears to be their only choice this offseason. The reality is that this team has Josh Allen and needs to catch lightning in a bottle in the draft to win a Super Bowl. That is their only choice at this point. Their fatal flaw, like a lot of other NFL teams is that they are going to live and die by their guys. They will never step out of their comfort zone. They kind of did with Von Miller and it has been a pretty massive failure. They are never going to draft red flag guys (except Araiza who they gave up on). To me the question isn't really what are they doing? It is why are they still here? But that is where we are at. There will be significant turnover and youth on this roster and it is only happening because it has to with the cap situation. And you just have to hope one of these rookie receivers becomes the next Justin Jefferson.

Happy, if you take what they have done so far, aside from the Jones move, they have gotten younger. The 1 tech market is weird in some ways. Most guys are in that 28-29 year old range. I do hope they go after a Raekwon Davis...26 years old, 6-7, 330. Or a cheaper guy like Leki Fotu, 25 years old, a disappointment in Arizona (who isn't?) so should be cheap and he's 6-5 335. They can still add to the group, and they have to. I am good with the Jones add as long as they don't continue to add a bunch of 32-year-old guys to the DL group. Epenesa replaces Floyd. He will be 26 in September and Floyd will be 32. I don't love Epenesa, but there seems to be some upside and the deal is super fair. Do I wish they had a 3rd and did that Brian Burns trade? Absolutely. I don't like the Cam Lewis signing, I think he is a minimum guy, but on the surface, he is more or less replacing Siran Neal. Lewis will be 27 this Spring and Neal will be 30. They did technically get cheaper here as well. We don't know what Rapp is going to be, but assuming he is replacing Poyer he is 26 (27 in December) and Poyer will be 33 this Spring. But they seem to like Rapp and a lot of the news coming out last offseason when he signed is that Bills engaged with him early as he was going to be the Poyer replacement. Then Poyer came back for a small contract and they still signed Rapp anyway. I think this year was Rapp's tryout period and they like the way he fits. They also got cheaper here. David Edwards will be 27 years old next week. Morse will be 32 in April. They got cheaper here as well and I have always liked Edwards quite a bit. I think this is likely an upgrade as long as he stays healthy. Nothing here is earth-shattering and aside from Jones, they did get significantly younger in multiple spots. They still have to add WRs, and DL, as well as another starting safety. If they add a FA WR he is very unlikely to be younger than Gabe Davis who is only 25. But there are opportunities to get younger at those other positions. I do think the plan is to get younger and cheaper, but Jones is the exception so far.

Justin Simmons released (now visiting N'awlins)
MrEpsYtown replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Simmons is probably one of the best free safeties in the league and always gives KC fits. He has the most interceptions of any player vs Mahomes. -
This is ok. I’d like to see him play more and there is something to be said for signing your own. He has flashed but needs to find consistency. I do wonder if this and miller’s contract affect Greg Rousseau’s 5th year option fate.
-
Everyone finally gets to see how he fits in a WCO…which is likely not great. But I wish him luck
-
meh. I feel like you can just get another UDFA to do what he does.
