  1. Thank you! Having an eligible number allows you to move that glorified tackle in Fisher around more. You can overload one side and have Fisher play a wing off the ball. Basically, you can play him off the ball and shift him and things of that nature. You can also run balanced formations with Fisher on one side and a tackle as the tight end on the other, which gives you strong running looks both ways, but also gives you the ability to have tackle eligible plays away from Fisher. You have an eligible tackle who does not have to declare as eligible. You can do do stuff like the Patriots did and hide Fisher as a tackle even though he is a tight end. The Patriots fooled the Ravens becuase they only had four linemen in the game with seven skill position players. Though the tight end, hidden as the left tackle was the eligible receiver and the slot player was not. So you can have looks like that, but with Fisher's tackle experience, you would still have a strong threat to run the ball as well.
  2. He had some injuries and when he did play he was not great. Maybe he just isn't happy, but a smallish tackle could make for a really good blocking tight end.
  3. It's not as much of a red flag for Taylor because Dillard has short arms. Also Taylor shows a ton of power in his game on film, where Dillard does not. His bench should be better. His arms are shorter than Jonah Williams, who everyone is calling T Rex. Also Dillard's three cone is not as good as Dion Dawkins, who happens to have much longer arms, and everyone wants to make a guard for some reason. Dillard is Jake Fisher. Look at their combine numbers. Again a finesse, spread tackle with short arms. All pretty much the same, except Fisher had an elite three cone time, and has longer arms.
  4. So I think Fisher is interesting, but we can't bank on anything yet. McDermott seems to love DiMarco. That said I wouldn't hesitate to replace him with younger guys with upside. Michael Burton, formerly of the Bears and Lions has been one of the better fullbacks in the league over the past 3-4 years and he's currently a free agent. He would be a huge upgrade. Just turned 27 and is a former teammate of Tyler Kroft at Rutgers. Dan Vitale has been floating around the league. In fact we claimed him at one point and waived him becuase a failed physical or something. He was the Super back at Northwestern and is only 25. I think he has some untapped potential as a blocker and receiver. He would also become the fastest player in the running back room. He kind of reminds me of Zach Line, who got the ball a lot in college and took a while to develop into a great fullback. Vitale is going through that transition right now, but there is upside here.
  5. I really like Long. He played a ton of right guard at Nebraska and played a bit of right guard for the Skins. They made him a center out of necessity and he wound up getting that big contract from the Jets. I think he's a guard and I would like to see what he could do if they just left him at right guard, which seems like his natural position. I am also one of the few that actually like Wyatt Teller. I think that if we sign Spain, Teller basically enters a three way competition at right guard with Long and Feliciano. I think Teller has upside and I think he would go in the second or third round in this draft. Most of his college experience was at left guard I believe. Guys like he and Dawkins are converted defensive linemen and so there is some rawness to their game. But there is also an element of nastiness there. Spain, Long, Feliciano, Teller all have some nastiness to their game. Ike Boettger has some of that as well.
  6. Okay yeah it looks like he earned a tryout at rookie minicamp here in 2017. Then the DOD changed the rules or something.
  7. I thought he spent some OTAs time with us or something
  8. I'm good with this. I wanted the team to sign a cheap guy like Eric Tomlinson, who is a 6-6, 265 lbs tight end who re-signed with the Jets after they non tendered him. Fisher is a much better athlete, bigger, and has bigger upside for sure. Daboll did some fun stuff last year with unbalanced formations, so having a guy like this can add to the variety. Let's see what happens. I still think they should look into Maxx Williams and roll with 4 tight ends like the Ravens. I also do do not think this keeps them from drafting a guy high. Both Fisher and Croom are longshot projects who are on the opposite sides of styles.
  9. Well he certainly likes to tackle!
  10. I think they move around the board a lot. 10 picks are not making this team. I would love a trade up to get Bosa, as long as I don't have to give up 2020 picks.
  11. I like Long a lot as a bounce back guy at guard. Feliciano is interesting, but Spain is better than both.
  12. I mean it's crazy this guy is still available. Beane must be looking around with more money saying what the hell.
  13. Super fast special teams guy, from what I know. That's about it. Maybe a Dan Morgan connection.
  14. I literally was going to type the same thing.
  15. Yeah I'm not impressed by Dillard. This is like the Jake Fisher type. Long, lean, college spread tackle that just can't handle the power and speed of the ends in the NFL. Now I don't like Jonah Williams at left tackle either, but one thing that I find to be funny is that Jonah Williams arms are too short at 33 and 5/8 but no one complains about Dillard's at 33, 1/2? He's long, tall, lean, short arms, played in an air raid system so has no run game polish, and is not super strong. That's not really a recipe for NFL success imo.
  16. Good points all around.
  17. There is some great all 22 film of him smashing people at tackle in 2017 and I think a lot of that had to do with being next to Richie.
  18. I think any tackle would be better at guard. Tackle is the more difficult position and that is why failed tackles are moved to guard. Tyron Smith is an awesome left tackle. He would be first ballot hall of fame at guard. This is an obvious concept in my opinion. The idea that Dawkins would be better at guard is pretty much true of every left tackle in the league. It's true, he would be better at guard, but that doesn't mean he can't be a great left tackle. The guy had a great 3 cone, 35 inch arms, and is a former defensive lineman so he is still a bit raw. Like Gunner said, you do not move him unless you know for sure he can't play tackle. Again this idea is coming from Mike Mayock's comments and like 7 plays during his rookie year. What about the like 600 plays he played awesome at left tackle his rookie year? One is a small sample, and one is not. Yes he had down year, and he admitted he got complacent. Sophomore slumps are not new. It happens. I think this is an idea that needs to die.
  19. I saw he weighed in at 271, so it makes it a bit better. But yeah 4.8 is a bit slow. Still faster than Preston Brown!
  20. I think that was Simmons. But yes the NFL is full of it. Fergusons ban is even dumber. A simple battery at a McDonalds or something.
  21. Yep I agree. There are only two guys on the roster right now, so adding a project like Fisher, while having another project in Croom, in no way would keep them from drafting another guy. I do think, in theory, you could move on from DiMarco if Fisher can be an Hback, blocking tight end and fullback, which he did a bit for the Bengals. The Ravens rolled with 4 tight ends last year, all with different skill sets, and I think Beane is looking for guys who complement one another. Now I feel they added Fisher and say Maxx Williams, they probably aren't drafting a guy high.
  22. Yep Carruth is a really bad one.
