  1. We have the advantage of lots of cap space that they don't have. But this does sound like the usual conjecture from LaConfora. That said, fingers crossed it happens. I want Morse, Williams, Jesse James.
  2. I like James too. I just want us to do whatever we have to do so we don't use our top ten pick on a right tackle. Whether that's Williams, James, Trent Brown whomever. A key move like that kind of unlocks the rest of the offseason. If we can corral a RT, a C, and a TE, everything changes.
  3. If you really want to get crazy, Kenny Stills, who I really like, could be cut or traded. He played with Phillips at Oklahoma and in Miami. Stills would be a great fit for the Josh Allen skill set. But yeah im assuming Daryl Williams is the guy. Geneo Grissom, former Patriot, is also a guy who could be a depth end who is a former Sooner teammate. But I just love Phillips' passion and zeal.
  4. I'm guessing and hoping he is recruiting Daryl Williams. They were teammates at Oklahoma.
  5. I think I'd rather have Daryl Williams than Saffold. But I want Morse and another guy. I'll take Saffold, Spain, Cann, James, Williams, whomever.
  6. They pick up discarded vets on the cheap and make good use of them. That's all I'm saying. They did it with Jason McCourty last year.
  7. Point taken, but they do this every year and make it work somehow.
  8. O'Shaughnessy is an interesting name no one has brought up. He was a KC draft pick who got traded to the Patriots. He got caught in the numbers game and cut, claimed by the Jaguars. The Bills also put in a claim on O'Shaugnessy, and that was before Daboll was here, so he could be a guy they pursue.
  9. I believe Carolina liked him a lot pre draft. I wrote in the other thread, he was really bad for Leslie Frazier in Tampa which led to his trade. Though he was a safety. Hes a Greg Schiano guy, so I could see him being a nice chess piece for the Patriots.
  10. Barron was awful in Leslie Frazier's defense in Tampa which prompted his eventual trade. Though he was a safety at the time. Greg Schiano loves him though. I bet he signs with the Patriots.
  11. I meant maybe the Rams go after Groy again. That ship has sailed for us I think.
  12. John Sullivan is the guy they pivoted to when we matched the Ryan Groy offer sheet. Groy got paid but I'd be pissed if I were him. Rams wa ted him to be their starting center, we matched and he sat on the bench for two years. Maybe they go after Groy again. Sullivan is old.
  13. So I was just kind of snooping around in free agency to see if there are guys out there who the Panthers showed pre draft interest in. 2014 Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, DB, Alabama (PRI) Chris Davis, DB, Auburn (PRO) Pierre Desir, DB, Lindenwood (PRO) Dakota Dozier, OL, Furman (PRO) Kony Ealy, DL, Missouri (PRI) Cameron Fleming, OL, Stanford (PRO) (VINT) Cody Latimer, WR, Indiana (PRI) Marcus Martin, OL, USC (PRI) Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss (PRI) (PRO) Billy Turner, OL, North Dakota State (PRI) Jason Verrett, DB, TCU (PRI) Jimmie Ward, DB, Northern Illinois (PRI) 2015 WR Ty Montgomery, Stanford WR DeVante Parker, Louisville (possible trade target) DE/OLB Za'Darius Smith, Kentucky* DT Carl Davis, Iowa RB Tevin Coleman, Indiana WR Jamison Crowder, Duke* CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State* (could be available for trade) WR Justin Hardy, East Carolina S Landon Collins, Alabama CB Quinten Rollins, Miami (Ohio)* OT Ereck Flowers, Miami CB Ronald Darby, Florida State* LB Denzel Perryman, Miami (FL)* WR Phillip Dorsett, Miami (FL)* DE Mario Edwards Jr, Florida State* WR Breshad Perriman, Central Florida (worked him out last year) WR Nelson Agholor, USC* (possible trade) OL Jeremiah Poutasi, Utah* (RFA) CB Josh Shaw, USC CB Eric Rowe WR Chris Conley Then there are some guys from 2016-2017 who I think could trade targets like Noah Spence, Solomon Thomas, Sterling Shepard, Forrest Lamp, Pat Elflein, Leonard Fournette. Interestingly, guys like Jordan Phillips, Breon Borders, Corey Coleman, Hunter Sharp, Malachi Dupre, Jalen Robinette, Nate Orchard, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Ryan Russell all passed through here at some point and were Panthers pre-draft visitors. I’m sure I am missing a couple as well. Plus we drafted guys like Tre'Davious White, Zay Jones, Dion Dawkins, Tanner Vallejo who visited the Panthers in 2017. Of course you have a guy like Darryl Williams, who visited them, was very good, and is now a UFA. Anyway, it is interesting to take a look at who Beane and McDermott were interested in in past drafts.
  14. I actually really like Lock. I don't like Murray becuase I hate small quarterbacks. I think he might be good, but also think he might get killed. Haskins is interesting but a 1 year guy on a loaded team. Grier reminds me of JP Losman without the elite arm strength, but I do think he has a chance to be good in the right situation. I also like Stidham more than most. But I'm really just glad we don't need one. It's a refreshing feeling.
  15. I think the Phillips situation is kind of unique. He was pretty good for us, but I think he is still in a prove it type of situation. A 1 year deal gives him a chance to prove that his small sample was not a fluke and he likely knew he would not get a much better offer on the open market. I think the depth at defensive line in this year's draft is going to hurt defensive tackles on the free agent market.
  16. Allen is a good player and can help in a lot of ways. I prefer a guy like James becuase he has more height and length. But Allen would be a nice add to the position. My my guess is he goes to Miami and helps Flores establish culture ala Mike Tolbert.
  17. Heres a good opinion piece: https://vikingsterritory.com/2019/opinion/lets-settle-the-anthony-barr-debate# Sorry I don't know how to do the fancy linky stuff with the picture. I think Barr is soft. Realistically though, I think he wants to be a 3-4 OLB and wants to be on the west coast. My best guess is he goes to Arizona.
  18. I think they re-sign him for less. The like him, but weren't going to pay him 7.3 million
  19. I don't love Anthony Barr. When I watch him, I think he's soft. Probably just me. Adding a Sam backer does make sense though and allows the team to use Lorax as more of a rusher. So I uunderstand the thought process, but I've never liked Barr.
  20. Kudos to NFL network for seeing that he'd be a great talent.
  21. Yeah I think he was definitely over drafted and hasn't panned out for them. Probably more of a mid first round guy. He is similar to the types of guys McDermott has made use of in the past, Charles Johnson, Mario Addison, Wes Horton etc.
  22. Carolina had him in for a pre-draft visit that year as well. I'm not sure what he would cost though. I feel like the Niners will take what they can get, as he has been a bust for them. The last time a trade like this went down, the Browns traded the #6 overall pick Barkevious Mingo, to the Patriots for a fifth round pick. The biggest difference there is that Mingo was traded after his third year. Another top ten bust, Derrick Harvey was held on to for too long and he wound up getting waived for nothing. Thomas has been that level of bust for the 49ers in his first two years and I think he'd be a better fit for our scheme. I'd throw them a 5th for sure. He's only 23 years old, going to be 24.
  23. I know he said free agency, but two under the radar guys who could come available and would be great fits imo, Solomon Thomas of the 49ers and Trey Hendrickson of the Saints. Thomas is a bigger end that fits the McDermott mold. If the 49ers draft Joey Bosa, I think they move Thomas. The other guy Hendrickson is another bigger end who has been a part time player and will be losing more playing time to Marcus Davenport. Perhaps a reclamation project like Noah Spence.
