Solomon Thomas is an option for Bills
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's a solid player...but he doesn't get sacks and that has been the issue. I think he projects better in our defense whether he plays end or tackle. -

Don't go blind, that's what I would do. Swap with Houston, 9, 2020 2nd, and a 5th for Clowney, #23 and a late pick. Trade a 4th for Solomon Thomas. Or perhaps trade them Zay Jones for Thomas straight up. Maybe play Thomas as a 3 tech full time. Trade Jerry Hughes to the Giants for a 2020 3rd, or the opportunity to trade up from 23 to 17. Or trade up in the second round. James Bettcher Connection. Clowney-Star-Thomas-Murphy -

I'll take it! -
How can you take a player in the top ten who does not know how to run block? The audio says he's been working on getting his body in the right position and such. Seriously? He's just learning now? He didn't like football in high school? C'mon Buffalo, don't do it. Dillard is so not the guy. He has good feet and he's big. That guy is not a top ten pick. This is a guy who looks the part who wants to make a living. Don't do it.

HOU open to moving Clowney- Mort

Way less, but he isn't near the player Clowney is. Thomas is like a more effective, suped up Shaq Lawson. -

This is what I posted in the Clark thread: A swap of first rounders and a 2020 second rounder isn't crazy. It is basically teh same as the value Seattle got for Clark. I know the draft chart isn't the be all end all. But 9 is worth 1350 and 23 is worth 760. The difference is 590. The number 29 pick the Chiefs traded is worth 640. Buffalo would be 50 points shy here which is the value of a late fourth rounder, and we have two of those. You could also likely work Jerry Hughes into the trade if you really wanted to and recoup some value in draft picks. Maybe you could trade Hughes to the Giants and James bettcher for a move up or a 2020 third. I would offer the Texans a swap of ones, a 2020 second rounder, and a 2019 4th. It's a fair deal for both teams and would be the same value that Seattle got for Clark. We would still have nine picks is year. It's a no brainer to me. The Chief's cost is really misleading. They did not give up a ton. See above. -

Thomas is not super long, but I think he would be functional in our defense. Dude is super strong and stout. He needs to do more as a pass rusher. -

I brought him up as a possible target a while back. What do I win? -

Andre Dillard -
I'd rather have Wilkins than any of the OL. But in this mock I'd take Hockenson 100%.
-
That's why I like doing these mocks. If Quarterbacks don't go early, our choices at 9 and 40 will be limited. I know that sounds obvious, but we need these quarterbacks to go. I just took Lock as the Broncos. Daniel Jones is still available in our mock as well. They will probably go earlier in reality and that should push some talent down. It dries up quick and I don't think this is an amazing draft honestly and that's why I hope we package some pics to move around teh board to grab the players we target.
-
It's true. That's why PFF is flawed though. I don't believe you can just look at an overall grade. As an OL coach, I need the guy to be able to block the other team's best player at the most important, nerve racking moments of the game. He can't give up the game changing sack. That's what makes a guy elite or not elite. Offensive play callers call plays assuming their left tackle is going to stone the other team's best rusher.

I think Williams is going to be a Kelvin Beachum-Eric Fisher type of tackle. Which to me, you don't draft in the top ten.He would probably be okay. I think he projects to be a good guard, not as good as Zach Martin, but maybe have a TJ Lang type of career. Again, you don't make that pick at 9. I think he would be an all pro center, top 10 type. His intelligence, footwork and agility project amazing there. But again, it's hard to justify in the top ten. I think it really depends what else is on the board. I think he could be the best center in the league eventually. Dillard, all I see is Jonathan Martin. A finesse player who is really soft and does not like to mix it up. I just don't see a heartbeat there. I don't see any edge in his play at all. I would hate the pick. I think he's a second rounder at best. With all off the power players we have added in Spain, Long, Feliciano, Nsekhe, Waddle...I really hope we are not interested in this guy. Taylor I could live with because I think he has the chance to be the best right tackle in the league who could possibly play left tackle.
-
Oliver is the guy. It's so perfect that it's crazy. Outside of Oliver I am intrigued by TJ Hockenson. Obviously I love Bosa, Williams, Allen but those seem unrealistic.I would be disappointed with most other outcomes. I'd be okay with Christian Wilkins and I think he will go higher than a lot of people think. I could sell myself on Jonah Williams or Jawaan Taylor. I love Dalton Risner and think he'd be perfect in a trade down.

Giants select in the first round ...
MrEpsYtown replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do think there is a small possibility, and I am totally just in my own head, that we could move Jerry Hughes to the Giants. Though he wasn't great in Indy, Hughes showed great improvement under James Bettcher, then Bettcher was moved to Arizona with Bruce Arians and Hughes was traded. So I could see a trade of Hughes to the Giants to possibly move up somewhere...maybe in the second. At the risk of going blind, I'd do a swap of 1's with Houston, and a 2020 2nd for Clowney. Then I'd trade Hughes to the Giants for something. Maybe a swap of 1s to get to seventeen, or maybe a 2020 third rounder to recoup a bit of what I lost in the Clowney trade. Or their second rounder for our third this year. I dunno. -

I think it makes sense to stick with Eli a bit more. If they suck again, you can take some of the better quarterbacks next year. If not, now there seems to be guys like Nick Foles, Derek Carr etc who hit the market. Just a few years ago guys like that were never available. But as teams cycle through coaches, people always want their own guy. -

Yeah I think they go defense. Allen, Williams, Oliver...whoever is left of those top guys. -
I've come around on Williams, honestly I think because I have a strong dislike for Dillard and I am hoping and praying we don't draft him. But anyway, if I draft Williams I'm probably sticking him at right guard and leaving Dawkins where he is. It is possible that Bobby Johnson doesn't like Dawkins, but that does not seem very likely. In theory though, if you draft Williams, perhaps you can get some value by trading Dion to the Panthers, who we jumped in front of to draft Dawkins, or even perhaps to the Giants. But if I'm going to draft an offensive linemen, I'd rather they just draft Hockenson and try something different.

Would you want Ziggy Ansah if he hits the open market?
MrEpsYtown replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he isn't going to be cleared by August, it's not worth it to sign him imo. There are no guarantees he will actually be ready to play. Especially if he wants a ton of money.
