  1. Yeldon was coached by Kelly Skipper for the majority of his career. I think he is an interesting guy who could thrive in Daboll's offense, as the James White type. I dunno. I'm good with it. He's better than anything in the draft this year not named Jacobs.
  2. So with Clark there is the Morgan connection and I like Clark a lot. Heath Farwell would also know him well. With th the Texans, their general manager Brian Gaine was here with the Bills under Brandon Beane. So there is a close relationship there and negotiations can probably be made quite easily becuase there is an element of trust. We also have John Butler on staff, and while he was the DB coach with the Texans, he would obviously know Clowney very well, would know his character in the locker room and see how he worked each day in practice. I do think Clowney would have a huge breakout in a 4-3 with much less responsibility. I'd take either one in a heartbeat.
  3. Duke Williams wearing 82. Apparently Gelber is snooping around the locker room.
  4. I think there are teams out there, like Atlanta and Tampa who would really like having Shaq, so I do think he has some trade value. But I do like the strides he's made. I think it really depends on how the rest of the offseason goes.
  5. That Jones pick really sticks out. Seems a bit crazy, but he must have gotten some sniffs that the Giants really like Jones, and maybe a team like Cincy as well, maenaing the Giants have to take him at 6 if they want him. Who knows?
  6. Perhaps a Paul Heyman with a massive cordless phone?
  7. Ebron was seen as more of an athlete and a flexed tight end in the vein of a Graham type. He was not a great blocker and very inconsistent but had athletic upside and found a home as more of a #2 in Indy. Howard is closer to Hock in type and ability but he was seen as a huge underachiever, and hasn't really busted out in the NFL. He was a 5 star guy who did very little at Bama, so people questioned his heart and effort. Honestly, his NFL production is still pretty underwhelming considering his physical skill set. I think Hockenson is a different animal altogether.
  8. I think the reason people like Hockenson is that he is a bit of a unicorn. He's a rare traditional tight end who can do everything at a very high level. A guy like Tyler Kroft can do a bit of everything, but nothing elite. Hock gives you elite in every aspect of the game and that is rare. I think at best he winds up being the second coming of Gronk and at the very worst he's Heath Miller or Kyle Rudolph. Cook is a 1 dimensional player, who can't block and has been a journeyman for a reason. I don't know about replacement value stuff, but I do think Hockenson is unique and needs to be treated that way. Most draft people think he is maybe the 5th or 6th best player in the draft overall.
  9. Its defintely the heel version we got here.
  10. That is pretty cool. Though I don't think Murphy makes the team.
  11. I think that word "rare" stands out to me. Hockenson is a rare player at his position, the kind of guy we have not seen come out in a long time. The other thing with Hockenson that I think many people ignore is that he came out early. If he went back to school next year, with Fant gone, he would have been their go to guy, put up massive numbers, and probably talked about as a top 5 pick next year. I'm okay with the pick.
  12. If that's the way the board falls I am all for Hockenson. He's a pretty unique prospect in a lot of ways and I think that our team is in a unique situation. Forget about bias from the past and things of that nature. His selection here makes a ton of sense on a lot of levels. And he's a better prospect than all the crap offensive linemen that people want becuase they are safe. He's likely the BPA in that situation. I also, and I've mentioned this a bunch of times, think that the Bills would be wise to hide their interest in Hockenson as best as they can to avoid having someone trade up into that 8 spot.
  13. I'm not sure enough people here really understand how good Frank Clark is. He's really good.
  14. It's not you. He made no impact. He looked tiny and overmatched. He's not the penetrating 3 Tech people are making him out to be. He's a 1 Tech who can play some three. Right now I'd start Jordan Phillips over him at the three as he has more penetrating ability. I'm not writing off Harry, but people are putting a bit too much stock in his improvement. I think he will be a good rotational player for us, but not a dominate starter.
  15. I love Dion, but man his body looks pretty sloppy in those pictures. Not that I should judge from my couch, but he looks a little out of shape.
  16. I think in a perfect world trade a 2 for Clark. Maybe next years two also. If you do a swap of first round picks, you would have to find a way to trade back up to try and grab Oliver.
  17. Im not sure how much more he is worth, but to me he is the much better player. I don't know how to really quantify it in terms of draft compensation. I'd do a swap of firsts and a third and fourth, something like that. He's much more well rounded when it comes to rushing the passer and stopping the run. Ford is more of a pass rusher, but ironically Clark actually has more career sacks and 1 less year in the league. Clark is only 25 years old and has had three straight years of high level production, while Ford has had a very inconsistent career, while lining up opposite Tampa Hali and Justin Houston a on the same line with Chris Jones. Clark has been really good, and to me, he is just scratching the surface of what he is capable of.
  18. That would be the best case scenario!
  19. Clark is so much better than Ansah. It isn't even close. He's also much younger. You can still get a 3 Tech in other parts of the draft. I love Oliver, but I'd rather have Clark.
  20. People have to realize that drafting an offensive linemen, a right tackle or a guard at 9 in this draft is pure lunacy. There are no Quentin Nelsons or Lane Johnsons here. Taylor has big upside, but he might also be Ereck Flowers, and you can buy linemen in free agency. It's much harder to find big time skill position players. If the defensive line talent is gone, take a shot of Metcalf or Hockenson.
  21. I agree on Morse. He's by far the best center we've had since Hull. If he stays healthy we are going to see a huge difference.
  22. If all of the top defensive talent is gone, and our regime can't trade down, and are going to pick a right tackle or a guard, I would strongly prefer they take a shot on Hockenson or Metcalf. If all of the top defensive talent is gone, I'd rather take a boom or bust receiver then an offensive linemen. Or I'd just take Hockenson. In 2020, unless you can get Tyreek Hill or Amari Cooper or Michael Thomas, or you really like old guys, it's going to be hard to get better receivers. Like I said, Metcalf scares me, but if Oliver etc are all gone, I'm willing to take a shot.
  23. Man we got a gem becuase he pulled his hammy on that 40 at the combine. It all worked out nicely so far.
  24. I think the difference here, for me anyway, is that Bakhtiari was a 4th round pick and we are talking about #9 overall here. Bakhtiari was a flawed prospect who was drafted and developed well. That's why he went in the 4th. I don't think you take a flawed prospect in the top ten. Bahktiari also hits that 34 inch arm length that is typically the cutoff for NFL scouting people when it comes to left tackles. Neither Williams or Dillard do. Dion Dawkins checks in at 35 inches.
  25. Probably just checking out Anthony Johnson
