  1. I know the Patriots connection seems off of the surface, but remember that Newton best years came under Mike Shula in the Erhardt Perkins system...what we and the Patriots run. So he would be very familiar with the system. The Broncos thing makes sense because of the presence of Mike Shula as the quarterbacks coach. Chargers seem like the no brainer, but I guess they aren’t going to go down that road. For Miami, remember that Chan Gailey is their new OC, and I think Cam fits a lot of what Chan likes to do. Darkhorse for me is the Steelers. I think Mike Tomlin would be able to get the best out of Cam and he could replace Big Ben next season.
  2. Broncos actually make a lot of sense with Mike Shula there. Good call.
  3. Taking a raw guy who dominated at a lower level is an interesting strategy and it worked out for Beane with Mario Addison’s development. I think Johnson is the prototype end that McDermott is looking for. Long and athletic. I actually remember Johnson playing a lot of special teams, something that most 4-3 ends don’t do. I like what I saw from him and I really think the believe in him. That said, I do think they will look to the draft to add a guy. They added Jonathan Woodard on a futures deal. Similar type of prospect from Central Arkansas. 6-6, 271, bounced around the league a bit. He’s a interesting add as well. I think he’s more interesting than Mike Love.
  4. Brown wore #2 all through OTAs and such until Scott got cut, the he switched to 15. He typically wore 12 most of his career and wore 13 in Baltimore. Victor Bolden wore 13 but lasted a lot longer than Scott, so maybe Brown settled for 15.
  5. Sucks. I really liked him despite really disliking the Cowboys.
  6. Somebody was talking about trading up into the first. Chiefs are the team to do it with because they literally can’t afford to pay a first rounder. They will probably have to do something with Sammy Watkins, but cap hell is worth it when you win the super bowl.
  7. Maybe was an option rather than Vernon Butler
  8. This logo is truly awful, but I’m not sure it matters unless they put this grotesque thing on a helmet. As long as they keep the classic Rams helmet, its fine....I think. No one is going to wear those hats except for like celebrities trying to look like normal people shopping.
  9. Makes sense. I don’t think McMahon is doing it solely for a profit. McMahon is an ego maniac and I think he can take a certain level of hemorrhaging as he does with WWE at times. I think they have at least next year. But u may be right, they may not make it to the next year. It would have interesting to see what would have happened if they finished this out.
  10. I’m simply saying that there will new best players. Guys like Josh Rosen and stuff who can’t a real look in the NFL. Guys from this years draft who don’t make a squad etc or the guys they push off of squads. Every year there will be a new crop of NFL rejects trying to get a look. A spring football league for these kind of guys is a good idea, and as long as the player salaries remain low, I think they can survive.
  11. I think it has a chance, albeit a small one. A guy like Walker maybe doesn’t get a second look if not for XFL. So in that way it served its purpose, to give guys like Walker, Cam Phillips another look. Perhaps Matt Rhule would have signed him regardless because he’s his guy. So next year, who knows? Guys like Davis Webb, back end roster guys maybe get another shot.
  12. Bridgewater Will Grier PJ Walker and technically Cam Newton
  13. Do you agree that he could double as a fullback-tight end? I like the way he plays too.
  14. Just fyi, guys in this draft who are technically tight ends but can play play fullback. I know a lot of fullbacks go quite low in the draft, but these guys offer more versatility and can be on the field way more than the traditional fullback. Dalton Keene VA tech Jared Pickney Vanderbilt Thaddeus Moss LSU Josiah Deguara Cincinnati I really like Keene. He reminds me a bit of Juszcyk as a jack of all trades kind of player. Keene also put up some impressive combine numbers. He is also used to doing a million different things at Virginia Tech. The interesting one to me is Moss. If you could convince that kid that he’s basically Juszcyk and going to used all over the field, he could have some ridiculous upside.
  15. Daboll, in the Jets game especially and in the Houston game looked like he was trying to get a mismatch. The went 5 wide with Lee Smith/Kroft and DiMarco in the game. If the other team came out in base defense they would throw, if the defense was in a sub package, they could shift to heavy formation and smash with the run. This is a good strategy but just did not work because Smith and DiMarco do not offer mismatch situations. Texans linebackers were way more athletic than them.
  16. Smith I think could. He played some fullback when he was with the Raiders. I’m not sure Sweeney is a good enough blocker at this point, but I could see him taking over these duties in the future.
  17. I really wish they went after Dan Vitale as a guy who can do more in the passing game. If the Bills want to have a guy who can block but also split out as a receiver when they go empty sets, they should have pursued Vitale. I don’t have a problem with DiMarco, I just have a problem with the way they use him. If they are going to do more of that stuff they need a Delanie Walker-Kyle Juszcyk type. There are a few of those body types in the draft this year.
  18. I think Jameis was done once he did that whole licking fingers thing. Its almost weirder than Brady kissing everyone.
  19. Side note on PJ Walker to the Panthers thing, I 100% think that this could make Kyle Allen available. Walker is Matt Rhule’s guy and I’m guessing he is being brought in to compete with Allen behind Bridgewater. The reason I bring it up is that Kyle Allen would be the absolute best pick to be Josh Allen’s backup. They are close, and they train all offseason together with Jordan Palmer. I’m sure Allen would like a chance to start again somewhere, but not sure he will get it. Anyway, the guy has some upside and got a good amount experience last year. Hypothetical, I know, but the perfect fit imo.
  20. Matt Rhule Temple guy And here’s one more, also a Temple guy: Maybe we sign him next year as linebacker depth? He will be a former Panther at that point. ?‍♂️
  21. I think they are quite different. Kamara is just a ridiculous receiver out of the back field. He’s longer and leaner than Devin. Kamara to me is a different type if runner. Singletary is like a little bowling ball, with deceptive speed and burst who makes quick cuts to make guys miss. Very much a LeSean McCoy type. He has some Travis Henry in him minus the terrible life decisions. He actually reminds me a lot of Garrison Hearst minus the long speed (he ran a 4.38!).
  22. Parham would be an interesting grab. Raw small school guy who has some upside. I think I remember reading he came to football really late in life, so the rawest of the raw. But an interesting guy. The easy connection to make is Artis-Payne as a former Carolina draft pick. Not sure he moves the needle.
  23. On the Pennington discussion, he was drafted 18th overall. Burrow is going 1 and you are passing on a generational talent like Chase Young to take him. So I think its different. To me this is like taking Sam Bradford over Suh and McCoy. Remember that Bradford threw 50 TD passes for that loaded Sooners team as a Sophomore. I think Burrow will be good, I just don’t know that he is that much of an upgrade over Dalton that I would pass on Young, or 3 first rounders. But I think it comes down to how much you like Burrow.
  24. If I’m the Bengals I try to trade down for a haul like this, if not I just take Chase Young. I actually don’t like Burrow. I mean the dude threw 60 touchdowns, unbelievable. But just something about his game I don’t love. I just don’t think he’s going to be great in the pros. Ironically, I think its a very Andy Dalton-ish career. I’d just take Young and role with Andy.
  25. Totally agree with you, but the biggest difference, unfortunately, is that they won six championships. So if they have a little dip, it’s no big deal. I do hope they wind up in qb purgatory for the next 20 years also, but somehow I think Belichick will figure it out. All that aside, our team is bow equipped to beat those guys anyways, even if they figure it out.
