So I was reading an article on the athletic that says that the Niners only gave Matt Breida the second round tender with the idea that they would be able to trade him later for a mid round pick. I like Cole Mcdonald from Hawaii in the late rounds as a guy who could eventually be a #2. I like his arm and athleticism, has a weird release, but I’m not sure if its a major problem, its just weird. And he's one of the guys out in California training with Josh Allen, so there would be a relationship there. I believe the Montez kid is as well.

Irvin seems more respectful and appreciative of his peers. Smith was talking trash about guys at the combine. Super annoying

The problem with Daboll’s empty formation is that two of the five guys In the formation are DiMarco and Lee Smith. They don’t use a true 5 WR formation, they use it as a way to create a mismatch. They go empty with 21 personnel.

I just think the circumstances this year may force teams into going for immediate value and impact over projected value.

In actually think the backs will go higher than usual in this draft. If said it a few times, but with this virus situation, it’s going to be very difficult to get production out of rookies who play positions that will need significant development time. It will be more of a crapshoot than ever before. So I think teams are going to go heavy on corners, defensive line, running backs...the plug and play positions. I think the high risk, low floor players may go later than usual.

Good work Gunner. How many of those guys do you think fit here? I mean I keep seeing people talk about Willikies and Tuzska and Anae and Baun their 31-32 inch arms and thinking there is no way they get drafted here. What are your thoughts on fit?

The brass ?? on Hyde made that possible. And I know this is not a popular opinion, but I love the Reds. I think they should go Red jersey with white pants at some point. But i love the reds.

Nah I am looking at the totality of a guys career and Yeldon has been a solid #2 for awhile now. He was a starter for a year or two. To me he got buried in the interest of veteran grit, and he had those couple of fumbles. I don’t think he’s a big deal, but I think he is a solid #2 guy. Now if they want it to be more of a 1-2 punch like 2 guys to carry the load, then they probably need someone better. Singletary should be getting 20-25 carries per game; not a timeshare. Also there is no guarantee that any of the backs in this draft available in round 2-3 will be any better than Yeldon.

I still like Kyle Sloter to replace Webb and maybe develop into a #2. But I like Barkley and I agree that he’s been really good for Josh in the QB room. I thought we’d try to grab Kyle Allen, but now he is in a situation where he has a chance to start. Outside of that, maybe a guy like Trevor Siemian, who spent a year with Diggs could help speed the Josh Allen and Diggs connection. But I still think that Barkley is good enough for now.

They also traded some of their good yoing depth by sending Chris Wormley to the Steelers. They also lost Patrick Owunasor and Josh Bynes at the linebacker spot. While they did aquire Calais Campbell, I don’t think they are better on defense. And offensively, Marshal Yanda retired and they traded Hayden Hurst and are sitting with like 14 million in cap.

It seems like the favorite on the board is AJ Dillon. Similar to James Connor as a bigger back, but still has speed. But Dillon is about 20lbs heavier and also ran a faster 40.

I actually have no problem with Yeldon as a #2 if they actually dress him and let him play. He’s not amazing or anything, but he’s a solid #2 who could excel in the passing game. But it does seem likely that a Devonta Freeman type winds up here once people can take physicals.

I totally disagreed with that move. I think there were two factors at bay there. First Williams didn’t offer any special teams prowess. Secondly, McDermott wanted to keep Mike Tolbert to establish his culture. I didn’t love that they kept Tolbert, but it made some sense. The one that got me was keeping journeyman Joe Banyard who was Kelly Skipper’s guy for culture in the room. Banyard was cut in October or something and they kept Taiwan Jones for special teams. Williams should have made that team over Banyard.

I actually brought this up in a thread somewhere. He looked pretty good for the Colts in spot duty. I think he would be a good change of pace to Singletary.

I love Morse and was super hyped about his signing. I thought he was good, not great. But he is by far the best interior linemen here. Anyway, a trade would incur a 10 million dollar dead cap hit with 2 million in savings. There is no way that happens, but I could see them moving on after this year if things aren’t great. But I think he plays out his contract here.

Carolina played him at guard last year just out of necessity. But he could play either guard spots and right tackle. In theory he could push Ford and Nsekhe. Good depth to have though. Probably more talented than Jon Feliciano, though ai do like Feliciano.

And to me, this is why the draft is not going to hold the same level of importance as it has in the past. It will be more of a crapshoot than ever before and unlikely that any one will be caught up quickly. That’s why running backs and edge players make sense, because they can acclimate more quickly than say a corner or linebacker

Having Gaines and Josh Norman around is good for White and Milano because they are examples that prove that the grass isn’t always greener, and sometimes fit is more important than anything. A good cautionary tale for those guys to see in the locker room every day.

Unfortunatley no smashing fullback really available. But I do think Dalton Keene is the next Kyle Juszcyk and I hope we take him. He is a Swiss army knife player who double as a tight end and a fullback. Love that guy. I think be could slip into the third round.

I tend to agree, but I do think that if Kmet came out next year, he’s definitely a first round pick. Right now he is a work in progress. It is not an amazing class, but there are some good players in the bunch.

I think kicker is a different animal, but once you get into rounds 5-7 I would rather have the best kicker or punter as opposed to the 45th best guard. I think you are right, that you go BPA within tiers and whatnot, but if the value is that much greater at another position, you draft that guy. The value has to be close to the same, otherwise you are drafting for need.

The only thing with Kmet, is that like Knox, he’s a bit raw. He needs some time so You may not get an immediate impact. But right away he becomes your best red zone threat. Like I said, he just turned 21 last week, so he’s a young 21. But I think his upside is immense. At the very least, I think he could be similar to Kyle Rudolph.

I think Moss needs to become and H back type and do some fullback things. But I like his upside. Love Keene, and like above I do think he can double as a fullback/tight end. I know its early, but I think he is going on day 2. To me, if he’s there in the second you take him. I’d rather have the best tight end in the draft over the 7th running back or tenth defensive end. There is some boom or bust there as he just turned 21. So he will probably need some time. Love Kmet though. And he has the length and height that make him the perfect complement to Knox. Kmet is Gronk to Knox’s Hernandez (minus the murdering). Or more conservatively, Kmet is Typer Higbee and Knox is Gerald Everett.
