2020 mock drafts/ fanspeak/ draft network
MrEpsYtown replied to ScorpionZero's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he would add an element of size and as a very young and pretty raw guy, I think he has a ton of room to grow. I think we have a lot of dynamic weapons and I’d like to add some size like Kmet and Claypool. -
I said it yesterday and I know its very tonfoil hat-ish. But I think the NFL makes sure Tua winds up in LA. 1 year on Allen’s deal. 2 on Brown’s. I don’t think it would be giving up on Brown it would just be trading for a guy who really excels at what your quarterback does well. I love Brown, but I wanted to get some opinions.

I think they get Tua somehow. They do have a pretty good defense, but the issue for their offense is that they don’t have any deep speed to capitalize on Tyrod’s deep ball prowess. Keenan Allen excels in working the intermediate areas of the field, that 10-25 range. The Chargers badly need deep speed in their recieving corps. In a contract year, his stats may dwindle. So I throw this out there for fun, John Brown for Keenan Allen...who says no? Stats are pretty comparable. Salaries mostly wash out, but Allen is in the final year of his contract whereas Brown has two more years, including this one. Josh’s arm strength really comes into play in that 15 to 25 yard area of the field where Keenan really excels. So who says no?

I know he’s a 4-3 guy, but I thought he was more of a zone coverage guy. But 4-3 is a great move. Jon Allen, Daron Payne, Montez Sweat, Kerrigan and potentially Chase Young? That defensive line is going to be good. -

yeah i could not remember if he moved from tackle to guard or guard to tackle. The last good right tackle we had was probably Jason Peters before he moved to left tackle. What’s ironic here is that Darby was traded out of Buffalo because he was not a good fit for McDermott’s “Ron Rivera” style defense where Josh Norman was the prototype. So Ron Rivera gets the job in Washington, cuts Norman, signs Darby. ?♂️ I’m guessing maybe Rivera is going more man? I wonder if he will run a 3-4 like he did in Carolina in 2019. -

Probably because it worked that one time when Mike Gandy moved to guard from LT and Jason Peters took over left tackle. I think Brad Butler made a similar move. -

No one cares about Josh Rosen. The big ticket possibility to LA is Tua. I think the league will make it so. -

I think Jameis should go to the Chargers and compete with Tyrod. Tyrod could teach Jamies how to be more conservative and gunshy. That would not stop them from drafting a guy high like Love or Herbert. Something tells me that the league will want Tua there in LA and try to tap into the Hawaiian fan base. But boy they have a glaring hole at the left tackle spot. The Steelers idea is a really good one. I think Mike Tomlin could reel Winston in and he could take over for Big Ben. I do think that Cam could wind up in in NE with his knowledge of the EP passing system. I think the league will work to make sure Tua gets to LA, so I think the Dolphins wind up grabbing Love or Herbert, or trying to work that trade with the Bengals, but I do think the Bengals wind up with Burrow. La: Tua Pitt: Winston Cincy: Burrow NE: Cam Miami: Love -

Its all the same stuff people were saying about Dion Dawkins and now everyone wants to re-sign him. Ford showed enough flashes, he needs a chance to develop just like Dion did. If he doesn’t show progression this year, then you move him to guard. But that’s why Nsehke and Williams are here. They are the fallback options imo. -
RB is a really GLARING need, right?
MrEpsYtown replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I was reading an article on the athletic that says that the Niners only gave Matt Breida the second round tender with the idea that they would be able to trade him later for a mid round pick. Would you do it for say a 4th or fifth? Behind a paywall by heres the link: https://theathletic.com/1698741/2020/03/25/49ers-mailbag-jerry-jeudy-or-ceedee-lamb-the-teams-most-enticing-trade-bait/ -
I like Cole Mcdonald from Hawaii in the late rounds as a guy who could eventually be a #2. I like his arm and athleticism, has a weird release, but I’m not sure if its a major problem, its just weird. And he's one of the guys out in California training with Josh Allen, so there would be a relationship there. I believe the Montez kid is as well.

NFL Network, Steve Smith Sr....

Irvin seems more respectful and appreciative of his peers. Smith was talking trash about guys at the combine. Super annoying -
Defending Allen in "empty" this year will be brutal
MrEpsYtown replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with Daboll’s empty formation is that two of the five guys In the formation are DiMarco and Lee Smith. They don’t use a true 5 WR formation, they use it as a way to create a mismatch. They go empty with 21 personnel. -

I just think the circumstances this year may force teams into going for immediate value and impact over projected value. -

In actually think the backs will go higher than usual in this draft. If said it a few times, but with this virus situation, it’s going to be very difficult to get production out of rookies who play positions that will need significant development time. It will be more of a crapshoot than ever before. So I think teams are going to go heavy on corners, defensive line, running backs...the plug and play positions. I think the high risk, low floor players may go later than usual. -
Good work Gunner. How many of those guys do you think fit here? I mean I keep seeing people talk about Willikies and Tuzska and Anae and Baun their 31-32 inch arms and thinking there is no way they get drafted here. What are your thoughts on fit?

Micah Hyde On-side Kick Return vs. Dolphins
MrEpsYtown replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The brass ?? on Hyde made that possible. And I know this is not a popular opinion, but I love the Reds. I think they should go Red jersey with white pants at some point. But i love the reds. -

Nah I am looking at the totality of a guys career and Yeldon has been a solid #2 for awhile now. He was a starter for a year or two. To me he got buried in the interest of veteran grit, and he had those couple of fumbles. I don’t think he’s a big deal, but I think he is a solid #2 guy. Now if they want it to be more of a 1-2 punch like 2 guys to carry the load, then they probably need someone better. Singletary should be getting 20-25 carries per game; not a timeshare. Also there is no guarantee that any of the backs in this draft available in round 2-3 will be any better than Yeldon. -
I still like Kyle Sloter to replace Webb and maybe develop into a #2. But I like Barkley and I agree that he’s been really good for Josh in the QB room. I thought we’d try to grab Kyle Allen, but now he is in a situation where he has a chance to start. Outside of that, maybe a guy like Trevor Siemian, who spent a year with Diggs could help speed the Josh Allen and Diggs connection. But I still think that Barkley is good enough for now.

They also traded some of their good yoing depth by sending Chris Wormley to the Steelers. They also lost Patrick Owunasor and Josh Bynes at the linebacker spot. While they did aquire Calais Campbell, I don’t think they are better on defense. And offensively, Marshal Yanda retired and they traded Hayden Hurst and are sitting with like 14 million in cap.
