I just don’t think Ngakoue is a scheme fit. Obviously I’d love to have a player with his skillset, but I just don’t think McDermott would want to hand out a massive contract to a 240 pound defensive end. Even Jerry Hughes is a questionable fit, but as a rotational player he has been okay. If they are handing out a massive contract to a guy, it has to be a perfect fit like Clowney or a Frank Clark, Demarcus Lawrence type. Bigger ends and defensive linemen so that you can have smaller rangey linebackers like Milano make plays is the MO here. That’s just my 2 cents.

Good safety depth which we sort of lack. I do think we upgrade at safety during the draft. Marlowe is limited but was okay on special teams as well.

I think this relationship was over the minute Bill was forced to trade Jimmy Garopollo. Bill wanted to move on but Brady won that battle with Kraft. So for the last couple of years you have a coach who knows his qurterback has more pull than him and a quarterback who knows his coach doesn’t want him. This was a natural break up.

I do like Miller. Always have. But I do think he is coming off a ACL or something. Gordon is the best player on the list, but in terms of being a complimentary piece, Hyde makes the most sense. Some more under the radar ideas: Deandre Washington of the Raiders was a good piece for them when Jacobs was injured last year. He has some breakaway speed and has some pass catching ability out of the backfield. Should come quite cheap. Our old friend Jonathan Williams could make sense. He flashed with the Colts last year. He has some size and speed. I do think he was originally cut in 2017 because he was a bad fit in the Rick Dennison system. I do think he’d fit better now. Matt Breida got a second round tender, but if a team wanted to pursue him, they could try to negotiate different compensation with the Niners. Maybe a 4th? Finally Kenyan Drake got the old Charles Clay Transition tag. With the Cardinals in a place where they need to get Deandre Hopkins a new contract, still need to make additions to their offensive line, and have about half our cap space, Beane could design a heavily front loaded contract that the Cards might struggle to match. Though if you pursue Drake, he becomes your starter and Singletary is the complimentary back. To me, he is the best player available at the position outside of Derrick Henry (who isn’t really available)

I like Higgins. He’d push Duke and Foster off the roster when it is all said and done in my opinion.

I’d like to see him here. Really good complement to Singletary and with Gurley you are also getting a bug time receiver so there are things you can do with him. I think he goes home to Baltimore and splits carries with Ingram and joins Lamar to enhance their rushing attack.

If we didn’t sign Klein it would make some sense as Clay could replace Lorax as the combo off ball sam/rush end. But I think that ship has sailed. I’m guessing he goes to a 3-4 team, maybe the Bucs and goes to play with Brady. I’d say Bucs, Raiders, Cardinals or Falcons. Gruden loves this guy.

I read somewhere he wanted to go to Miami to be closer to family. I still hope the Line buries him on every play, plus he can fight Connor McGovern again, twice a year now that he is with the Jets. But I don’t think there was animosity out the door.

Its a reach but both of these guys were class of 2012 high school graduates and they are both from Maryland, towns about 40 miles apart. I’m guessing there is a chance they know each other. Gurley went to high school in North Carolina, but spend most of his life in Maryland before his teenaged years. I’m guessing they are friends. A stretch, but it would be cool if Diggs started recruiting guys already.

I like Gordon, but I’m not sure that is the right move for this team. Definitely interested in Gurley if he’s cheap. Lamar Miller, Devonta Freeman, Carlos Hyde work just as well as Gordon in my opinion.

Honestly had 3 such occurrences. First was Bryce Paup. I was young and he was my favorite non Bill. I wore number 95 when i was young in his honor. Then it was Chris Speilman. The Lions were on TV a lot and he was probably my favorite linebacker. outside of Bills and Reggie White, Paup and Speilman were my favorite defensive players. Finally it was Drew Bledsoe. Post Kelly, Bledsoe was my favorite quarterback in the league. I even had a Bledsoe Pats jersey as a youngster. When he got traded to the Bills I was already like 18 but I had the same reaction as this kid.

So true. That Ramsey trade kills them. No first rounders for a while. The Gurley deal is what it is. They had to pay him, but kind of backed themselves into a corner. I wonder if people with still see McVay as a genius, or is he just the next McDaniels?

To me the only reason the Gurley idea makes sense is that the Rams have paid most of the guarantee already and he needs to be a part time player. Whomever we bring in needs to share carries with Singletary. Maybe Gurley could be electric again if used selectively. I think the Rams hold onto him past 4 pm and take whatever they can get.

I think that makes sense as well. I like the middle part of this draft and it would be interesting to see them come away with most of their picks in that 2-5 range. He definitely will move about the board.

I like Josh more than all of them, but I liked both Joshes his draft year. Hated Mayfield and was iffy on Darnold. But if I was drafting a guy this year I’d take Herbert. I think he has the best career of the first round guys this year.

Rams don’t have a first round pick until 2022. So it might be tough to make it an Osweiler type or trade.

Also remember that Eric Washington is a HUGE upgrade coach wise. The guy is going to make a huge difference for these guys. Hopefully, he can turn Oliver into the next big thing in the 3 tech world. He’s gotten production out of Addison in both 4-3 and 3-4 defenses and has been with Butler from day 1 of his development. To me, Washington might be the biggest addition to out D line.

Interestingly, there are a couple of fullback upgrades available who could come cheaper. Roosevelt Nix just got cut so the Steelers can get the Watt brothers together and pay the fullback Watt 3 million a year. Nix is better than Watt and DiMarco at this point in his career. Another guy I’ve had my eye on since the draft is Danny Vitale. Finally got a chance to play in Green-bay and was very good. I think he has some Kyle Juszcyk lite type of upside. Highly athletic and can carry the football. i have love for DiMarco and the leadership he brings to the team. But he seems done to me and these guys are upgrades. Nix has nice special teams upside while Vitale has upside as a receiver. So a modest upgrade opportunity. I think we need to add a receiver like Higgins from the Browns as well.

Immediately, Dion Dawkins comes to mind. Whipping boy who can’t play tackle and needs to move to guard because those six plays he was a guard as a rookie. Dion has developed, as many players, especially young offensive linemen, naturally do. Dion has climbed out of the whipping boy situation and now everyone wants to extend him. Cody Ford has now taken over the mantle of tackles who need to play guard passed on through the generations from Cordy to Dion and now to Cody. It is possible to recover from whipping boy status.

I could see a re-structure type extension. But yes, finally healthy, he was very good in the second half of the season. As others have said, I think he stays unless we make a really big ticket addition. I think he is a solid, yet somewhat overpaid piece.
