  1. But the designed runs for Josh have been mostly sweeps, draws, and an occasional counter run. Carolina had Cam getting crushed on designed QB powers and dives like they were some high school team. Aside from that, Newton was getting killed on roughing the passer non calls. I guess the refs don’t call it because he’s too big “and should be able to take it.” That to me is the biggest problem, because Josh, being as big as he is, is not being protected by the refs. That’s the real issue. Josh is getting the same non treatment by the refs and eventually it will catch up.
  2. Keeping the powder blue going is a good call
  3. I think the difference is that Manziel blows and never accomplished anything. He is a total loser. Cam has had a highly successful career and people sometimes fail to recognize that because they don’t like him. I just think public perception decides how we see of these players sometimes. But people saying that he sucks and whatever is kind of absurd. He was the most electrifying offense player in the league for a couple of years there. Edit: It is similar to how people perceived Jay Cutler...he really was not much more of a jerk than Phillip Rivers, but perception of him affected his reputation a lot. Again he did not accomplish what Cam has. But I’d mostly agree on the race thing, there are some people out there who might judge him based on that.
  4. I’m guessing Jets or Dolphins. Both have gaping holes at Left Tackle. I could also see the Chargers after they traded Okung. Or maybe the Browns with Bill Callahan as their o line guy.
  5. Yeah I actually think that they could have a pretty good year. To me, Teddy can do everything Joe Burrow did under Joe Brady last year. I think he could have a pretty explosive year. Perfect fit in my opinion.
  6. Rhule loves Dion. One of his first recruits I believe, who really helped establish a new culture at Temple.
  7. Oh well im an idiot! Oops. Good ole reading comprehension.
  8. Maybe the Jets will sign Perriman and Carlos Hyde and trade for Dalton, and the board might meltdown
  9. I think they are okay there with Okung, Paradis, and Moton, Little...they need guards-though they did sign John Miller ?. And I’m guessing they will go all out to try to sign Dion Dawkins next year! I think they go D line or corner.
  10. I think the problem for him is that he has had 1 semi respectable year, and before that was a massive draft bust. He was avalable on waivers and the scrap heap multiple times the last couple of years and could have been had for nothing. Now what do you pay him and which guy are you getting? He is a very risky person to give guaranteed money to. I think he’s still out there becuase no one wants to get burned in this situation.
  11. I’ll just add this...There are some edge players in college ranks who weight 240 lbs and have 31 inch arms. We ain’t drafting those guys. Anything smaller than Jerry Hughes is too small here, and I think he is right on the border. Look for those guys who are 6-3 plus, 33 inch plus arms, in the 260-280 range for this scheme. Guys who don’t have those types of measurables, I think you can ignore. More off the radar school guys who have length but need to put on weight like a Daryll Johnson make sense too. Like Trevis Gipson from Tulsa who has some skill and good length but probably has to gain like 10-15 lbs.
  12. Khalid Kareem is my kind of guy and the kind of guy I think McDermott would target. Long arms, nice size and strength, good run defender. Still has upside. Guys like Baun to me are too small for this scheme. Short arms etc...he’s a 3-4 OLB in my opinion.
  13. Good re-sign. I’m not sure he makes the team, but competition at the bottom of the receiver depth chart is not a bad thing to have and this dude adds a unique skill set.
  14. I know the Patriots connection seems off of the surface, but remember that Newton best years came under Mike Shula in the Erhardt Perkins system...what we and the Patriots run. So he would be very familiar with the system. The Broncos thing makes sense because of the presence of Mike Shula as the quarterbacks coach. Chargers seem like the no brainer, but I guess they aren’t going to go down that road. For Miami, remember that Chan Gailey is their new OC, and I think Cam fits a lot of what Chan likes to do. Darkhorse for me is the Steelers. I think Mike Tomlin would be able to get the best out of Cam and he could replace Big Ben next season.
  15. Broncos actually make a lot of sense with Mike Shula there. Good call.
  16. Taking a raw guy who dominated at a lower level is an interesting strategy and it worked out for Beane with Mario Addison’s development. I think Johnson is the prototype end that McDermott is looking for. Long and athletic. I actually remember Johnson playing a lot of special teams, something that most 4-3 ends don’t do. I like what I saw from him and I really think the believe in him. That said, I do think they will look to the draft to add a guy. They added Jonathan Woodard on a futures deal. Similar type of prospect from Central Arkansas. 6-6, 271, bounced around the league a bit. He’s a interesting add as well. I think he’s more interesting than Mike Love.
  17. Brown wore #2 all through OTAs and such until Scott got cut, the he switched to 15. He typically wore 12 most of his career and wore 13 in Baltimore. Victor Bolden wore 13 but lasted a lot longer than Scott, so maybe Brown settled for 15.
  18. Sucks. I really liked him despite really disliking the Cowboys.
  19. Somebody was talking about trading up into the first. Chiefs are the team to do it with because they literally can’t afford to pay a first rounder. They will probably have to do something with Sammy Watkins, but cap hell is worth it when you win the super bowl.
  20. Maybe was an option rather than Vernon Butler
  21. This logo is truly awful, but I’m not sure it matters unless they put this grotesque thing on a helmet. As long as they keep the classic Rams helmet, its fine....I think. No one is going to wear those hats except for like celebrities trying to look like normal people shopping.
  22. Makes sense. I don’t think McMahon is doing it solely for a profit. McMahon is an ego maniac and I think he can take a certain level of hemorrhaging as he does with WWE at times. I think they have at least next year. But u may be right, they may not make it to the next year. It would have interesting to see what would have happened if they finished this out.
  23. I’m simply saying that there will new best players. Guys like Josh Rosen and stuff who can’t a real look in the NFL. Guys from this years draft who don’t make a squad etc or the guys they push off of squads. Every year there will be a new crop of NFL rejects trying to get a look. A spring football league for these kind of guys is a good idea, and as long as the player salaries remain low, I think they can survive.
  24. I think it has a chance, albeit a small one. A guy like Walker maybe doesn’t get a second look if not for XFL. So in that way it served its purpose, to give guys like Walker, Cam Phillips another look. Perhaps Matt Rhule would have signed him regardless because he’s his guy. So next year, who knows? Guys like Davis Webb, back end roster guys maybe get another shot.
