I think he looks pretty good, looks stout against the run. I think the entire d line is playing lights out.

One thing about Gilliam, and I can’t find where I saw it, but he apparently has a ridiculous wingspan, which is one if the reasons he had so many blocked kicks in college. Interesting H back guy, especially down on the goaline.

I think what we were seeing was more of a veer option. I think that is a weird choice in an NFL game. Great high school play, but you are truly lambing out the running back there. I like veer option for a guy like lamar jackson, who has that explosive speed out of the mesh. Josh takes a bit to get to the rpms, so a zone option makes more sense. Essentially, i say we saw veer option because there was a same side mesh with the back, whereas your zone option is a crossface mesh. I thought it was a strange choice.

I dunno. I thought Oliver put guys on roller skates all day. That interior pressure we have been lacking for many years. I also thought Phillips held up really well for a guy who has had such a long layoff. Zimmer had the splash plays, and i like him, but Oliver was a beast in there.

A common misconception on Johnson is that he was a poor fit with Greggo...but in Trumaine’s best years with the Rams his defensive coordinator was Gregg Williams.

At 30 and having been a street free agent awhile now, since March, I think he is at that point already. He has to reinvent himself if his career is going to continue, imo. I feel like we are good in the slot and I think Johnson could be an all pro again at safety.

Johnson should move to safety. Very good tackling, excellent ball skills, good size. Would be a nice depth upgrade if he made that switch. Perhaps he’d fare better as a zone corner here, but i think a safety switch would revitalize his career.

These Browns are very unlikeable. Back in the Kelly Holcomb-Tim Couch days I kind of felt bad for them. Not these guys.

I know people hate it, but Trent Murphy was pretty damn good yesterday. And others said, Oliver was schooling the interior guys. I though Addison and Hughes were dominate as well.

I agree with this 100%. I think this really stood out. We essentially saw a highschool/college run game today.

Todd Davis is probably the best player out there at the linebacker position. He makes sense if those guys are going to out long.

Yep this is definitely true. But if there are a couple of weeks of inactivity from him on offense, I think they look at the others. If he is not providing an offensive spark, he’s not really serving a purpose on the roster imo. Totally forgot about T. Jones. Playoffs PTSD has pushed him deep into a place in my brain.

I wonder who are staring gunners will be. It was a lot of Foster and Neal last year. Maybe Gabe Davis or Jaquan Johnson? I wonder if Kumerow is sitting by to see if he is needed more than say an Isiah McKenzie. I think we will probably see Kumerow or Duke swipe his spot in the next few weeks.

I always liked DiMarco, but he was very disappointed during his time here. Makes me think of those false reports that we signed Kyle Juszcyk who would have been a huge get. I hope we try to travel down that road in free agency again this off season.

Bates and Boettger can play center, but aren’t natural centers like Boehm is. I’m guessing Bates is the #2 guy on the depth chart. There is depth there, but if you think Harrison is better than those guys, it makes sense to kick the tires. I don’t think he would replace Boettger or Bates. I think this team really likes those guys, and I think they would lose them to other teams if released. Just my opinion.

I think a part of his contract becomes dead cap this year but I think its non consequential.

It allowed them to keep Hodgins. If they IRed him he would be out for the season and if they waived him another team could have swiped him. Roberts and Marlowe not being subject to waivers allowed the Bills to use two roster spots for one day. With Feliciano, if he were put on IR before the cut down, he’d be out for the season, but now they can bring him back, I’m pretty sure anyways. It let the Bills play with two bonus spots for 24 hours.

It comes full circle as he will learn from Brady, but not the way a lot of people thought. My understanding is that he excelled on special teams and as a blocker, but also had some clutch catches over the last couple of years and was a favorite of Aaron Rodgers. Good guy to have around imo.

Panthers cut Kaare Vedvik...so he’s a better fit now.

Butler is gonna start imo, but Phillips, Jefferson gonna be on the field a lot.

Richie Leone has been the best punter in the CFL for a few years. Could be an interesting grab. Punting is punting.

Ingram is a very good player, but really not what these guys look for as prototype edge players. Short arms, kind of a guy without a position here imo.

Agreed. We just went through this with Dion Dawkins...and Cordy Glenn before him...this likely won’t go away for a while because pre draft prognosticators said Ford would be an all pro guard. But if Ford improves his play like Dion did, it has a chance to go away. Raw tackles like Dion and Ford take some time to develop in the NFL. And in Ford’s case, Oklahoma did not ask him to do much technique wise. The things he is being asked to do in the NFL are things he’s never done before. Patience will pay off here.
