Its not a bad idea, simply based on the fact that the Saints really are in a bad way cap space wise in 2021 on paper right now. And that isn’t counting guys like Kamara and Demario Davis who will be UFAs. Plus they have fifth year options on Lattimore and Ramzcyk. I’m sure they will find a way, but can’t keep everyone.

Harrison Bryant the TE from FIU. Or knowing Doug Marrone, Simpson the guard from Clemson

He’s smaller than Josh so that makes sense

Anything unloaded of Paul Reuben's is not ideal.

Last year he went up for Knox, not Singletary. And I agree that he will make the move for the guys he targets if he things the value is there. -

I think he’s more of a strong safety, but I don’t think it matters in this scheme. I think they are quite interchangeable. I think Hyde and Poyer both play free and strong throughout games depending on what the defensive coverage and front is. But I feel like Hyde is technically the free safety. Not sure though. -
Mine is Carter Coughlin Minnesota. He is an undersized edge player Who I think is athletic enough to make the move to Will or Sam as an off ball guy. He was all over the field for Minnesota and the dude can ball. To me he’s the kind of guy who will make a team, be a special teams beast, and eventually develop into a starter somewhere. Ran a 4.57 40 at the combine. The video shows him in the backfield and dominating some pretty good offensive lines.

Beane and McDermott trading up is all about targeting specific people. Trading up for Dawson Knox for example. Beane used picks 112 and 131 to move up and grab Knox. 112 wound up being Bryce Love and 131 was Wes Martin a backup guard. I'd rather have Knox. And I am sure the Redskins would rather have Knox too as they have a huge need at tight end. The next tight end taken after Knox was Trevon Wesco and Foster Moreau (who I like) was avalable at 137. I know it is cherry picking, but if you look at what was drafted between picks 96 and 131, it is nothing special besides Maxx Crosby. I would rather have one Dawson Knox over two meh players. Just to add, Maxx Crosby was picked at 106, I would have loved to have him, but again, it would have required a trade up from pick 112, and probably would have cost 131 anyway. So they targeted Knox. Time will tell if it was the right move, but Bryce Love and Wes Martin would have likely had trouble making the team last year. Our roster is even better than it was last year, and it is going to be very difficult for 7 rookies to crack the roster. So rather than lose draft picks for nothing when you cut them, ala Austin Proehl, use picks to trade up and target guys you are really confident can crack your roster. I think Beane and McDermott move about the board and grab 4-5 guys they have targeted. It did not work with Zay Jones, it looks promising with Knox. The idea of trading picks to get guys you want and have specifically targeted is a great philosophy. Now they might grab the wrong people, but the intent is correct. If this franchise had more guts in the past we would have had Ben Roethlisberger for the last 20 years. -
I hear you, but the NFL has a mob mentality. If the Dolphins feel good about him, but 31 our teams are saying he’s no good, sometimes teams get scared and start to question their own board. Unanimous opinion is a huge thing in the NFL. If what you are saying is true, why would anybody ever send out any smokescreens? They do because it creates doubt, controversy, and sometimes leads teams to make different decisions. I think it happens more than we think it does. Lamery Tunsil dropped to 13 because a video surfaced of him in a gas mask smoking pot and everyone got scared to pick him. NFL teams are influenced by what other teams are saying because they get scared. If you can convince enough people that Cordy Glenn is a guard, you might just be able to get him in the second round. If you are the Chargers and you want Tua, you do this hoping the Dolphins are influenced and go in another direction. It’s going to come down tho how much a team trusts its borard.

The NFL needs the Chargers move to LA to work and LA football in general. There is a lot of money to lose on that deal. Like I said it’s my own tin foil hat hypothesis. I explained it, but the fact that the NFL needs things to work in LA, the Chargers need a face of the franchise, LA has the largest population of pacific Islanders of any city in the US outside of Hawaii and there just so happens to be a star Quarterback of pacific island descent in the draft, and its a position of need for the Chargers. That’s why I think he winds up there. You are tapping into a big fanbase. Ofcourse it’s presumptuous. 95% of the content on here is. Kind of like any mock draft or speculation. That’s the purpose of the board. Nobody knows where teams rank anybody except for the teams themselves. So Matt Miller, Mel Kiper, Daniel Jeremiah, their entire career is based on presumption and speculation.

I don’t think he has the twitch or speed to really play there though. He’s a man without a position, so that’s why I was saying he could be valuable as a team as fullback who can also be a rotational base end.
-
I think he could find a home on more hybrid teams like the Ravens, Pats, Lions. I don’t think he is a fit here because he doesn’t fit the profile of what they have shown they like in edge players. 31 inch arms are the biggest red flag. That said, if I were Willekes, I would move to fullback. He could be the next Patrick Ricard as a two way player. He could probably gain 20lbs and move inside to tackle. But yeah I would draft him as a fullback/DL two way player. He has a ability on the edge and he was a high school running back, so being a fullback would not be that foreign.

Yep I agree. I think the smokescreens never work, but if they Chargers can create enough controversy around Tua to get people to pass on him, maybe you get Miami to question their choice. I think there is a chance that Miami could really like Love, but Tua fits great with what Chan Gailey likes to do. But my tinfoil hat interpretation here is that the league needs this LA thing to work. LA has the highest population of Pacific Islanders, of all of the cities outside of the state of Hawaii. They need to tap into that population of fans. Las Vegas is way up there too, which is why Marcus Mariota is there. I think everyone gets together here for the good of the league and gets Tua to LA.

I feel like he would be at his best as a 4-3 Will where his speed would come into play. Could he be Thomas Davis or Derrick Brooks maybe? He could be a Tremaine Edmunds type of Mike, though faster and not quite as stout. Maybe he’s a Brian Urlacher type. If he were drafted by the Dolphins, I think Simmons could be used as prime years Jamie Collins, kind of all over the field doing a lot of different thinks. I think playing him inside in a 3-4 might hamper him a bit, so I think he’d be best going to a hybrid team Or a 4-3 team. Though cream always rises and I think this guy is close to can’t miss.

Dolphins should probably hire @NewEra because it’s very likely he did a better job with their picks here in the mock draft than they will in real life.

Chargers having a nice draft with Tua and Taylor
