  1. I played with this dude: Great guy. So I know like 3 people who played in the NFL, so I never say never.
  2. Has Joe B. ever heard of comp picks? Damn! 😁
  3. I like the Z. Smith fit. I think he probably winds up with the Giants back with Martindale, but he would be a nice add.
  4. To me, Wyatt is a 3 tech type who would be more of a rotational piece with Oliver. I like the player, but we already have a better version of him imo.
  5. I would probably lean towards a better blocker. James O'Shaughnessy, Kyle Rudolph, Geoff Swaim come to mind as guys who are #2's and considered very good blockers. Eric Tomlinson is one of the better guys, but he offers very little as a receiver. What I would do is sign Patrick Ricard. He is technically a fullback who provides great blocking, but can also play tight end, H back, and defensive end.
  6. Big splash! See, everyone worrying about cap space, there is a way around all this stuff.
  7. It was a smart play by his agent. The college crop is underwhelming and Nagy proved that he was the problem. So Trubisky comes out smelling like roses.
  8. To me its CMC or Mack. JMO.
  9. I get it, but those are vet minimum type guys so they would not factor in the formula. I am totally ok with him just signing 1 or two impact type free agents, but there are too many holes on the roster and that has never been Beane's MO. I think there is zero chance he goes into the draft without some type of punter, but I may be wrong. I guess it is important to avoid overpaying those bottom feeders so they don't factor into the formula. But I will be shocked if he doesn't address needs in free agency. He has kind of always said he looks at free agency as a way to plug holes so they can draft BPA.
  10. Draft picks are definitely good. But the good players are gone in May. If you guys want to win a championship you can't worry about the comp picks. Beane needs to assemble the best roster he can going into the draft. I would be good with it if we didn't have so many holes to fill, but as good as this roster is, it is going to be facing a good amount of turnover. Teams like the Pats, Ravens, Titans, and Packers navigate comp picks by just not signing anyone. But the Ravens and Pats suffered because they did not replace the guys they lost and depended on the draft. How would the reaction be here if Beane sits on his hands, sits out free agency and just drafts a bunch of guys?
  11. Is everybody really okay with losing Trubisky, Wallace, Phillips. Hughes, McKenzie, Addison, Sanders and not replacing them? Like I know we have 9 draft picks, but in order to get the comp pics you have to replace those guys with trades, through the draft, or by signing released players. Say you lose Trubisky, Wallace, Phillips, and McKenzie and replace them with K. Allen, Donte Jackson, Taven Bryan, Christian Kirk....no draft pick. Hughes, Addison, Sanders won't be signing for a lot imo, so you aren't getting a comp pick. I get that it isn't super complicated, but how are you replacing all these guys? How do you replace the guys you lose?
  12. I am surprised the Eagles never flipped him to the left side.
  13. You are right. I just don't think Brandon Beane is going to hold off on signing guys he is interested in because he is trying to gather comp picks. It is kind of an untapped thing, but as we improve and start to lose more players, it is more practical to navigate. But I do think he is going to focus on trying to get the best players on the team, rather than trying to signed released guys vs UFAs. Not sure if it is the right move or not, but I feel like it would be low on his list of priorities. JMO
  14. Agreed that those are the "splash" moves out there, not necessarily the right ones. But no one cares about Allen Robinson etc.
  15. The problem with the Fisher thing in 2013 is that Lane Johnson went right after, Terron Armstead went in the 3rd and David Bakhtiari went in the 4th. He is very meh when compare to thos guys. When you draft for need and draft guys undeserving of the #1 pick, you make mistakes. I mean we draft EJ Manuel that day, so I guess the joke was on us. What a crap first round. Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins and that's pretty much it.
  16. This is where I am. A trade for McCaffrey or Mack would be the big splash tradewise. Gronk would be the big splash free agent wise. I love Brandon Scherff, but signing a right guard is not a big splash. Neither is signing Chandler Jones imo. Maybe Von Miller.
  17. This formula is too complicated to navigate to really use it as a strategy. We have holes to plug, so hopefully the Bills sign some sort of mid to high level free agent and that will cancel out Trubisky. After that, you also have to grab a corner and a DT, plus you need a backup QB. Unless you plug holes with the draft and sit out free agency, it is hard to muster thee picks.
  18. I disagree because I think a rookie left tackle is going to make some mistakes that could get that shiny new toy killed. And if he isn’t going to start at left tackle day 1, he doesn’t deserve to be the #1 pick. Jacksonville should take Hutchinson and sign a veteran like Terron Armstead, or resign their own in Cam Robinson. Passing on a talent like Hutchinson to draft tackles with question marks is nuts to me. Sign a vet, even a guy like Duane Brown. That is what will help Lawrence more than anything imo.
  19. I totally thought that Miami just cut him and forgot he was back on the Pats 🤷‍♂️
  20. Is this the big name? Anyway, guessing he goes to Pittsburgh with Flores.
  21. Same type of hype as Brandon Reilly, David Sills, Austin Proehl etc who came before, extending back to Jordy Nelson who was actually good. Edit: I actually liked Sills' game.
  22. I saw on facebook that the Bills visited with Araiza at the combine. Don't know how to link it or anything. I don't think it is a huge deal, but it is interesting. Are teams limited on how many people they can visit with at the combine?
  23. The Jags are insane if they pass on Hutchinson. What they need is a veteran left tackle to protect Lawrence
  24. Interesting tidbit on Kirk is that apparently best friends with Kyle Allen. They are like childhood best friends and went to A&M together. Explains why they were all together. Kirk is probably the perfect add, and having Kyle Allen as a long term backup behind Josh makes a ton of sense.
  25. Interesting to look at the list of 2018 pre draft guys they had interest in since a bunch of the names on the list will be free agents this offseason. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/sports/erry-2018/04/b675f821924437/2018_nfl_draft_which_prospects.html
