Love McDuffie. wasted a lot of time talking about him at draft time.

Well Bradlee Chubb was underwhelming in that defense. So that’s something. Chubb had his best year when year before Fangio got there and his second best year after he left.

Yeah I could see them pursuing Jessie Bates or Gardner Johnson as a Poyer replacement. Probably a too expensive. I also like Drue Tranquill as an Edmunds replacement. I also think Byron Murphy could be a playmaking safety if he moves off CB (similar to when we signed Micah Hyde.) No reel big fish, except maybe Bates.

Rd 1 happy with the Diggs trade A+ Rd 2 Epenesa. Yuck. F. The pick here should have been Ezra Cleveland, who has turned into an excellent guard. AJ Dillon, Logan Wilson, Van Jefferson, Kristian Fulton or Jeremy Chinn would have been ideal as well. But with our OL need, Cleveland would be nice to have right now. I think they wanted Kyle Dugger and thought he would drop to them and got all screwed up when the Pats grabbed him early. Rd 3 Moss. F. Just yuck. I hate this pick, now and hated it then. The thing is that there isn’t a whole ton of talent that got picked right after him. Maybe Cam Dantzler, Devin Duvernay. Jonathan Greenard is better than AJ Epenesa and went right after. Rd 4 Davis - B. I am not a Davis guy, too many drops for me, but he outperforms most players picked in the 4th. They just missed on Kevin Dotson who is a very good guard for the Steelers and L’Jarius Sneed who is an important cog in the KC defense. But Davis pick was solid. Rd 5 - Fromm - F - A cheap long term backup for Josh? Sure its a solid idea. But they never committed to him and he was pretty bad. Wasted pick. They missed on Darnell Mooney, who has turned into an impact player on the Bears. Rd 6 Bass - B + Really good pick, but still a kicker. Jon Runyan, Quez Watkins, and Jordan Fuller went right after. An argument can be made for those guys. Rd 6 Giants legend Hodgins - F - again its an F because he did nothing for us. Yes we made a mistake releasing him, and I like him as a player but they had no plan to get him involved and its a failure. Rd 7 - Jackson- A - I am not a fan of his game, but to have made the contributions he has a 7th round pick is awesome and unlikely. UDFA we could have drafted instead of some of these guys: P Tommy Townsend QB Tyler Huntley RB James Robinson WR Marquez Callaway G Calvin Throckmorton WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine UDFA we signed who is still around: Reggie Gilliam Antonio Williams is still in the NFL and Trey Adams was an interesting pick until he retired. Guys from that draft who are now in our program: WR Isaiah Coulter WR Dezmon Paton

I hear ya. No locking horns here either. Dean to me is more of a will. I dont see him holding up at mike, where Lloyd does. I do think the Eagles give Dean a shot if Edwards is gone, but I still think he is too small. Lloyd was a premium run defender in college and I think he will continue to improve and form a pretty good tandem with Muma. And yes, we have missed out on a number of second round/third round linemen beculause we looked elsewhere and it hurts.

I think he is. I think patience is the key when it comes to a really good athlete who is very long and played a low level of football. I keep using Mike McGlinchey as an example. The difference is that he went to Notre Dame and had a more polished game. He really struggled and finally put it together, though he still gets beat sometimes and is probably their worst linemen. He is going to get paid. Who are you replacing Brown with? Are you going to use a premium pick on a guy to play RT? Meh. A guy who may not be as good as Brown? In free agency? Well we won’t have the cap space to sign a McGlinchey or McGary. McGary is another guy, long and lean and a great athlete. He was so bad his first 3 years that the Falcons turned down his 5th year option, and he finally put it together year 4, and he’s going to laugh all the way to the bank. Brown will pull it together. He has a nasty disposition and a great mentality and motor. I really feel patience is the key with him, but they should bring in some sort of competition.

I don’t care about PFF data. You didn’t know anything about Lloyd? Really? Edmunds at the edge? Anyway, Lloyd played 80% of the defensive snaps, a lot of which came next to another rookie in Chad Muma for a playoff team. Dean is an undersized player who sat the bench and still got hurt (his durability was always a concern.) One guy played and flashed in the NFL. One guy sat the bench and still got hurt and was really good in college. i am definitely not the one joking here

The Broncos seem to be striking out here. They went big game fishing for Payton and Harbaugh and look to be losing out on some of the lower level guys and it looks like Demeco Ryans is going to the Texans. The Broncos may have to circle back and I hope Frazier gets a call. Honestly the Indy job is more attractive because you get to choose your QB and have a high draft pick to do so. In Denver you are stuck with Wilson. That could be the type of job nobody wants and Frazier may be the best they can do ala the Texans and David Culley.

Nah we should have drafted Devin Lloyd in the first, in the second Luke Fortner, Nicholas Petit-Frere, or Abraham Lucas instead of Cook. Then Rachaad White in the 3rd and probably Tariq Woolen with the 4th we traded to move up two spots for Elam. Revisionist, but this was a terrible draft in 2022 and with how great a draft the Giants had, Joe Schoen was a big loss. Malcom Rodriguez in the 6th is better than Bernard.

I agree partially. Sanders played behind lines that were god awful. This line is very, lets say below average. Saffold is terrible. But also do not think the line upgrades come via first round of the draft. I think they add in free agency. Mid level guys like a David Edwards type, and maybe draft some mid round guys. They just continue to pass on interesting mid round linemen year after year.

I really don’t like it, but he’s a top 5 back. This ain’t Breece Hall we are debating. I think you have to pull the trigger if he is there at 27. At least you get big time production for a cheap price for 4 years.

Man when you look at some of the guys picked after him? Ugh wasted opportunity there and another wasted pick. I think it’s a combination of the coach connection and the need for depth at linebacker, I suppose a Milano backup. Baylon Spector looked better every time we saw him. So this, the punter, and Tenuta, 3 wasted draft picks. And that is why we are where we are.

But then you are spending like 6 million or so on the position. In that case I would rather just sign a Miles Sanders, David Montgomery type in that 6-8 million range. Honestly I’d cut down Hines’s pay and replace Devin with a rookie. 3.5 does make some sense though. That was what the range was thats they were going to pay for McKittrick. BTW they got extremely lucky there. Washington did the Bills a favor. He totally sucked this year. No touchdowns. 95 yards rushing, 173 receiving. Got hurt. Might be done as it is his second serious neck injury and he is probably going to get cut. Again, exhibit 6,734 why you don’t pay running backs unless they are elite. After the elite its all the same.

I just want to pay the guy who knocks my socks off. I am just against signing a meh player whose production can be filled by a mid round rookie. Spend another draft pick on another average back. That’s fine in my book. Paying an average RB doesn’t make sense unless he is extremely cheap.

And honestly, I am not sure what they are going to do. It will interesting to see. He’s a perfectly good player and better than a lot in the league. His presence or lack thereof will not be the determining factor whether or not we win a super bowl, that all falls on Josh and the offense at the end of the day. It comes down to dollars and cents. Sure you can pay him like a top 5 backer, but its an overpay. He’s more like a top 15-20 guy. I’ve been a defender of his and felt like he would get better, but after 5 seasons, he is what he is, a solid top 15 inside backer….Paul Pozluzny. You could probably get the same production in this defense from other UFAs like TJ Edwards or Drue Tranquill. They don’t look as impressive, but get the job done and are probably much cheaper.

So if you go back a page or two in this thread, there is a video I posted where Jake Butt analyzes Jack Campbell. A part of the video Campbell knocks the ball out, anticipates a throw, and catches a tipped pass. What Butt says is that the game has truly slowed down for Campbell so he makes these plays off anticipation and instincts. That made a ton of sense to me. As I am watching it I started to think about Tremaine. The game has not slowed down for him. He always plays with his hair on fire. He doesn’t anticipate or make instinctual plays and that is why he doesn’t cause any turnovers. He gets manipulated in coverage and doesn’t anticipate where the ball is going. That is always going to hold him back. Despite being an incredible athlete, he is almost always a half a step behind. The people who cause turnovers are always a half a step ahead. Solid player, but the game is moving too fast for him at this point.

If you have speed, downfield blocking doesn’t matter. I mean I like Singletary, but he isn’t special and that’s why you do not pay him. His blocking is ok, he can catch a little. Solid, but meh. And I think that is why they keep drafting RBs, so they never have to pay one.

My thrift shop WR targets look like this: I would like them to take a look at Randall Cobb. An older guy yes, but I think he could come here and be the Emmanuel Sanders vet who makes big plays for Josh. A slot guy who may be a bit under the radar is Scotty Miller. Runs in the 4.3s and has shown off that speed in games. He catches the ball and has had some very good games in the past in which he kind of took over. He is coming off a bit of a down year. Can he become a faster Cole Beasley? Maybe. All I know is he is faster and younger than Zay McKenzie. I really like Mack Hollins from the Raiders. Honestly whenever I watch them, he makes plays. He is aggressive and he really blocks. He should not be expensive. Hollins is huge, fast, and excels on special teams but is also a functional receiver. He can replace Kumerow as a gunner and actually help the offense. Plus he is a super weird dude, which is awesome. Another under the radar guy who continues to make plays for KC is Justin Watson. Big athlete, great size, big hands and ball skills. Super smart UPENN kid. He posted a big time RAS, 6-2, 215, a 4.4 forty and 40 inch vert. He is showing that he can play in the NFL with KC.

Just add here, I think the Bates looking more comfy at left guard thing has two sides to it. First, he was playing next to Dion as opposed to Spencer Brown. Playing next to an experienced guy makes a lot of difference for a young guy. Also at PSU he made the majority of his starts at LT, so in practice he was never working as a swing type guy and would have taken all his reps in indy as a LT. So perhaps he just has a natural feel for that right side.

I disagree. Teams are going to keep chasing the Sean McVay model and hire losers like Nate Hackett over and over again, every once in awhile you find a Zac Taylor. Just hire good coaches and leaders of men. Side of the ball should not matter. Head coaches are supposed to be CEOs and should not favor one side or the other. I think the Texans are going to hire DeMeco Ryans and the Colts may hire Wink Martindale.

Yeah nobody is going to sign Devin to be a feature back. Maybe a #2. I hope that he is not back. He ain’t it.
