  1. I like Duke, and thought he should have been on the field way early in the year. I don't know if DK makes that catch or not, nobody does. But that's like saying a QB who played 2 games and threw 2 picks is turning the ball over at roughly the same rate as a QB who throws 7 picks in 16 games.
  2. No dawg. Though it's a small sample size, Duke's averaging 10.5 drops per 100. 10.5 - 7 = 3.5 So I was wrong. That 50% more drops. 3.5 / 7 = .5
  3. You realize that's a 30% higher drop rate for Duke, right?
  4. It definitely went forward.
  5. A Safety is the correct call. Not because it was recovered. You can not recover an illegal forward pass. It's a dead ball... It's a safety because the illegal forward pass happened in the end zone. SECTION 29 SAFETY It is a Safety if the spot of enforcement for a foul by the offense is behind its own goal line, or if the ball is dead in possession of a team on or behind its own goal line when the impetus (3-17) comes from the team defending that goal line. I didn't think it was either. I assumed a defense could recover a forward lateral like a fumble. But the NFL rule book says that an illegal forward pass is a dead ball if it hits the ground and results in a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the illegal forward pass.
  6. They weren't. The play is dead bc he threw the ball forward. An illegal forward lateral cannot be recovered or advanced. It is a dead play the moment it hits the ground.
  7. I know nobody really want to hear it, but the kickoff was dead the moment he threw the ball forward. The letter of the law says that anytime a running throws the ball forward it is a dead ball when it hits the ground. Turns out a forward lateral can not be recovered or advances. It's treated like an incomplete pass.
  8. It isn't the same, because the South Carolina player passed the ball backwards. That's a live ball. When a runner passes the ball forward, it's a dead ball when it hits the ground. You can't recover it.
  9. Wow, rewatching that in real time, it's maybe even worse. D-Dawk has no one to block so he does a the slowest 360 spin looking for a blocker and completely whiffs. Side Note: Quinton Spain may have hard the surest tackle of the day for the Bills!
  10. We have a very high level defense. And they need a few more player makers to be elite enough to win a Super Bowl. A 2nd shut down CB, and elite Edge Rusher to take over for Jerry Hughes and a run stuffing OLB to take over for Lorenzo.
  11. It oddly worked in our favor. Because of the better field position they had, they chose to go for it on 4th. Had we punted and stopped them, they would have punted in return and then pinned us deeper. Also, the immediate incompletion to Duke saved the time on the clock that would have been consumed by the punt. Kind of like spiking it on 4th and 27 to kill the clock and save 10 seconds. No, I don't think this is what they were thinking.
  12. I was wondering if it was some of the posters in this thread treating them "like they deserve "
  13. Better when the Texans were getting the ball back then what they would have been after onfe of the biggest bone headed touchdowns in playoff history.
  14. Yeah, Tre White went to the ground. Looked at the ref. The ref blew his whistle and made the hand signal for end of play. Tre White got up and celebrated after the play had been whistled dead.
  15. Is there a section in the rules on what exactly happens on a play when a runner throws a forward lateral? And is there a difference between a forward lateral and a forward pass? Because it seems to me that those are two different plays.
  16. There were idiots there. You can hear them sarcasticly cheering Josh in the video that was posted, and yelling "yeah Bills, 4 for 4!" Mocking the four straight super bowl losses.
  17. Won't happen. The league knew the tv ratings would go down the tubes if the game was 23-0 at that point. That's when the black clad officials stepped out from the shadows and put the leagues interests ahead of the rules.
  18. In the kick off section, his actions do not coint as ending the play and it's a live ball. Not an illegal forward pass, but an illegal forward lateral which can be recovered. But the question is if there is another additional section specifically on "giving yourself up" that would allow them to interpret passing the ball to the ref as giving himself up. Otherwise it's just like creating a tuck rule out of thin air to justify a totally wrong call on the field.
  19. I don't think so, because on a kickoff there's no line of scrimmage. So its not an illegal forward pass, it's an illegal forward lateral. If a running back down field initiates an illegal forward lateral, I believe it would be the defenses ball if they recover. Just may not be able to advance it.
  20. Yeah, the rule stipulates that a kick off is dead if the ball lands in the end zone -- unless it is touched.
  21. The only argument you could make was that by throwing it to the ref it was an act of "giving himself up." Up until that point it could have been a trick play. But throwing it to the ref and walking away from the ball is a pretty clear indication that wasn't faking it.
  22. I mean, they changed the rule a few years ago that if the kickoff lands in the endzone it's not a live ball and an automatic touxhback. I guess the only reason guys are catching it when they intend to take a knee is for practice catching?
  23. Well no, his knee was down, but he got off the ground and leapt for the first down before the contact. He wasn't touched while down. Beasley should have gotten more targets.
  24. They should hire Gregg Williams as HC if the Bills don't make it back to the playoffs next year.
  25. Let us know when you cut him.
