  1. The guy that pressured and blitzed every play?
  2. You don't think McDermott is conservative?
  3. Dungy had Peyton Manning for six years. The opposite of conservative.
  4. Neither of those were. Staubach was one of the most revolutionary QBs. Bob Hayes was the opposite. Knox was not an overly conservative coach. On either side of the ball. When he had Ferguson and Cribbs here we were not conservative.
  5. He was not always conservative. They won with both great offense and defense. Bart Starr, Paul Hornug, the WR, TE, was not at all conservative.
  6. They were dropbacks and scrambles or QB draws. Not at all same thing.
  7. I'm trying to think of one. In any sport. Don't make this a hate McDermott stance or thread. I like him. I'm glad we have him. But it's arguable that his blatant conservative nature holds this team back. There are no facts. This is ALL opinion. And some of his conservative nature surely helps. We're 10-5 and will likely finish 11-5. But the object is to win it all. Josh is a unique talent. We need to score more points or there is little chance to win it all and that is the object. I think he needs to relinquish some of his dearly held nature in order to be great. I don't think you can be great without a killer instinct.
  8. So lame. Inside the three? Sure. But not at the 8. That's been a lousy call all year.
  9. Especially because we have been noticeably better recently by blitzing. Yes, Brady can hurt you if you do it too much. But today his receivers would not get huge separation. They weren't going to hurt us by breaking 30 yard plays. The way to beat him is to pressure him. Especially now. And we were soft. Huge mistake IMO.
  10. That's where I am. Especially defense.
  11. I think McDermott has a huge influence on the playcalling. And Daboll is somewhat hamstrung by McD's conservative nature.
  12. Josh is a playmaker. Period. It's obvious and consistent. Trying to make him a game manager puts restraints on him. I think we're a better, more dangerous team, and possible great team if the shackles are taken off
  13. Been an issue the entire year. McDermott has been an overall huge plus but how many consistently conservative coaches have been great in any sport? Seems like all the great ones have killer instincts.
  14. Poor fundamental tackling has been one of two huge problems all season.
  15. I'm a big McDermott fan and still am but I think he made a ton of tactical errors that affected the game. Not putting Tre on Edelman when Wallace and K Johnson could have handled Sanu and Harry was a huge mistake. Not pressuring more, when they were not getting real separation was a big mistake. Handcuffing the offense, to me, is not worth the trade off. There is a lot to like about him. And usually his defensive game plans are solid. But I think it cost them today.
  16. Would it be legal for a defensive player to come up from behind when a RB or QB or WR who was stood up or being tackled and just punch him as hard as you can in the back or solar plexus?
  17. Cool. Do that. Vegas is great place to watch a hockey game. Great move putting that arena right in the middle of the strip. Should be fun. It'll definitely be loaded with Sabres fans.
  18. You going to be in Vegas for Sabres game? I'll be there.
  19. That was so embarrassing on so many levels.
  20. So you think that if Ed Oliver ran at the QB and instead of trying to tackle him he just punched him as hard as he could in the chest close to the ball that is legal?
  21. I still think he’s valuable this year. It’s ridiculous to run him off tackle. Or if you need a bunch of yards. But 3rd or 4th needing a couple yards he's very good. Plus he still hurts defenders. I wouldn't use him as much as we do, but he's a valuable cog.
  22. I think he definitely missed the ball. I can’t imagine punching someone in the gut if you miss is legal.
  23. That’s not what I am arguing. I understood what you are saying and players have tried to punch balls out forever. That’s not the point. The point is if you miss and just punch a player in the chest or gut or balls it should be a penalty. Like if you try to swat a ball away from a QB but miss and hit him in the helmet it is a penalty. I’ve been watching football for over 50 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player swing as hard as Watt did with a punch, miss the ball and hit the player. That can’t be legal or guys would do it all the time.
  24. Dead cap isn’t going to matter at all to the Bills next year. The savings on Star’s salary to be able to retain Shaq and Phillips on that line would be worth it. And I think Star is better than most give him credit for. We have 80-90m to spend. We aren’t going to. Dead money from Star is immaterial. Yep. His sack totals are crazy for a DT outside of Donald. Usually there are 1-2 DTs at most that get 10 sacks.
