This is what I think. McDermott is going to install his defense and I imagine will call defensive signals. The OC is 10x the more important hire. The DC here needs to be one of two things, a very solid, experienced guy who used to be a HC and can help McD out - a guy just like Frazier - or an up and coming whiz kid who is on his way to being a great DC in a few years. Both the other guys rumored, John Butler and Al Holcomb, fit that bill.

Bills Hire Sean McDermott as New Head Coach

The DB coach for the Texans, John Butler, is a rumor to be DC, and the LB coach for the Panthers, Al Holcomb, is a rumor to be the DC. -
The new jw Tweets 1/11 - Questions on Whaley & TT

Normally it is part of his job. In this case, IMO, these last two years, when he was officially the GM it was a little different simply because we had a HC in Rex Ryan that was a media slut and loved the camera and watching himself talk. So Whaley, who doesn't like talking to the media, didn't have to. Rex had a lot of power, a direct line to the owner, and a lot of mouth. Whaley also works for an owner who hates TBN and isn't really comfortable in front of a camera, although he wants people to love him. Something which is somewhat contradictory. jw, who I will defend to no end, is a member of the media. So he is, perhaps rightfully, pissed off at Whaley for not making himself available like a normal GM would do, during the season. And especially pissed off at him for his non-answers at the press conference. I don't feel the same way as jw because I think the answers were already glaringly obvious before the press conference even started. And guys rarely if ever tell the truth at those things anyway. The media, jw included, felt slighted. A lot of fans were pissed, too. -

It's a lot easier to believe that Whaley and Monos are tight than it is to believe that Monos is grappling for more power over Whaley. -

I'm not sure what jw heard or didn't hear, and believe his reporting, but keep in mind there are a lot of "people in the building" at OBD, and a lot of them have been there for awhile, and there are a lot of leaks out of OBD, and people in the building does not necessarily mean that Terry and Kim are unhappy with what Whaley did. I'm sure they knew pretty much what he was going to say before he went out there. If he doesn't have power, and he definitely wants to move on from Tyrod, they may as well fire him now and hire Monos. I'm just not sure that either of those two things are entirely true. -
Nope. Not at all.

That could very well be. It was clear to me that we were virtually NEVER getting the Rex Ryan defense, so that conjecture makes sense. He had Rob, Thurman, and Ed Reed there, and surely there were too many cooks in the kitchen. And that's where a lot of the disorganization came from. So again, that makes sense. The only thing that doesn't make sense in that is usually a ballsy, loudmouthed, braggadocio would never come to the conclusion that he couldn't do this any more.

He was a solid OL coach for a lot of years. The DC thing was just bizarre and I don't hold that against him. We could do a lot worse but I still would rather keep Kromer. This probably means that Lynn is not coming back although that is not a given. It implies, but doesn't prove, that McDermott knows who the OC is going to be, and that's not a good sign for McCoy, IMO. But that is total conjecture.

The same number of teams that can say they got caught cheating twice and paid the two highest penalties in league history for their crimes.

Mike McCoy interviewing with Denver today

There are all kinds of reasons that McCoy may or may not choose Buffalo over Denver. -
Potential Bidding War over McCoy?
Kelly the Dog replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. Forever, however, it's been easy to see how when an OC or a DC becomes an HC, they do not spend 100% of their time on the O or the D. It's somewhere, I imagine, between 30-80% of their time considering the other side of the ball, special teams, meetings, duties only a HC has, etc. And I do not think you can just attribute a guy's offense if he is the HC but an O guy all to him. Frank Reich was getting HC interviews from being the OC even though I even posted here that it was totally McCoy's offense, meaning playbook. No. You don't have to ask that. It's a dumb question. That's why you asked that. -
He left her bedside time and time again and was praised for it. I call it leaving your wife. You said, "1st she had passed before he went and helped work out the CBA." He helped work out the CBA for months and months. The day she died he was doing it.

Players "fear" him because of his success not personality and actions? -
No. Wrong. Who is the tool? http://www.patriots.com/news/2012/06/18/robert-kraft-selected-pfwas-2012-george-halas-award-winner

Yup. It's one of those, if a tree falls at the florist things.
