Who cares. But I really doubt it. He could have, of course, turned us down for the QB coach to take the Rams QB coach, but who cares about that, too. I think we are likely back to Childress who was the guy all long, he knows of these hires, he's taking a few days off to be with his family after the long season and doesn't want to have to answer questions or take a plane trip to Buff for a couple days. It could also be, of course, a guy still in the playoffs, who also has had his say in these hires.

Kelly Skipper Named Bills' RB Coach

That's actually pretty good production for McFadden who was injured half the time and Michael Bush, with no passing game whatsoever. -
Kelly Skipper Named Bills' RB Coach

Castillo and Boras are very good coaches. I would prefer to have kept Kromer for OL but Castillo is very good. Who are you against and why, besides this guy? -
Kelly Skipper Named Bills' RB Coach

He didn't have much to work with in his day. I don't really think you need to teach Shady, Gilislee and Felton much. Uninspiring hire but to me, the RB coach is one of our least important hires. -
Offensive Coordinator candidates
Kelly the Dog replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, the list is suspect. John Blake and Bobby April, Jr. will be gone. Although it's possible that they keep them on until the contract runs out, who knows. Kromer was rumored to be interviewed for am OC position, I think with the Rams. Maybe he asked for release of his contract. It would be different if he were to become OC anyway, and there is no indication of the Bills doing this. That said, I would imagine that the total evaluation that McDermott and Castillo and Boras of Tyrod is not complete yet. They may not even know for sure what their final evaluation would be after speaking with each other about the film. Not to mention who knows what the real deal is for the OC position at OBD. It was just a thought that I would not at all mind that scenario, considering the apparent alternatives out there. -
Offensive Coordinator candidates

I know the report is that Kromer was released from his contract, which of course was due to Castillo getting the job. But I wonder if there is a consideration to hire a Kromer as OC and keep Chris Palmer in his position, and run a variation of the offense the players are familiar with. Which of course includes Tyrod. Kromer could do what Lynn did, meaning work from a solid framework and playbook already established and tweak it to his and his head coaches wants. -
Three exceptions to the rule out of the last five? That sounds reasonable.

He was great fighting the White Walkers in Game of Thrones.

McDermott is hiring very veteran coaches, some with coordinator or even HC experience. This will help him make the transition and, say if they keep Sanjay Lal, would help a young OC if that is the route he chooses.

One of those "type" things is that they already hired a OL/run game coordinator and today a TE coach. It's a little strange to not have the OC in on those decisions. If they know he is their guy, and they know he is good with the hires, a guy whose team is still in the playoffs makes more sense than not.

Well, Boras did coach Jared Cook for three years, the guy who made the spectacular sideline grab to win the Packer game.

Didn't with Edwards, Wanny or Rex.

Chip Kelly interviewing for Jags OC
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Compared to what we are allegedly interviewing I would love to have Chip Kelly and he'd probably lobby for Tyrod. Maybe not having to worry about defense and the rest of HC duties would be great for him. I'd be very much in favor of this. I don't see how it works in Jax as a Saint Doug and Sgt Slaughter sammich though. -
Chip Kelly interviewing for Jags OC

It's surely a recipe for disaster, but the offense will likely be a lot better with Chip Kelly running it than Nate Can't Hackett. That is, until HC Marrone insists on the three-headed Ryan Nuefeld Syndrome offense comprised of three (often slow, white) TEs who scare no one. -
Rivers not interested in LA - nevermind he is

If Bills dump Taylor, where does he end up?

I would be much more comfortable with Cam Cameron than Greg Olsen. Of course, I may be more comfortable with Tila Tequila or Miko Grimes than Greg Olsen. -
Draft question: which do you take?
Kelly the Dog replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. I would guess there are 20+ factors in every single decision on whether or not BPA is the best choice. All of the ones I indicated, what you just did, a few other obvious ones, plus ones we probably didn't know about. -
Rivers not interested in LA - nevermind he is
Kelly the Dog replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Rivers to Buffalo talk needs to stop, too. It's extremely unlikely. But the idea that he wouldn't do it because of his family seems a little ridiculous, too. Virtually every single player and coach talking about a buffalo when they leave say what a great place to raise a family, and what a great community it is. Word around the league is it's a great family place, one of the very best. No one really knows what Rivers considers important in the "family" sense outside of his religious views. -
Draft question: which do you take?
Kelly the Dog replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points. There is no team anywhere, any time, that automatically takes BPA. Otherwise you could just set your draft in a set order like a predraft fantasy football program and not even attend or watch the draft and just do it by computer. -
McDermott said flat out that he is going to have his mitts in all three phases of the game, rather than concentrating on his specialty, defense, which got him the job. That said, I think it's very prudent if not imperative that he give control of the offense to an experienced OC rather than a first timer or up and comer. He is one of those himself. He covered himself extremely well with the defensive hires. Castillo was a good start (although I would have preferred to keep Kromer) but this offense is going to be crucial to McDermott's success, and trusting it to a guy with no real experience is a big gamble. And don't say Anthony Lynn was a first timer. He spent 24 years in the league, was an Assistant HC for 4-5, started developing his own offense ten years ago, etc. If you found "that" guy, sure, hire him. He's not a young, inexperienced up and comer.

The only place that the idea that Childress "may" be out of the running seems to be a Vic tweet. I would not automatically assume this to be the truth. It may ultimately turn out to be true, who knows now, but it's a flimsy case for it being true. One Vic tweet, saying he "may" be out of the running. Edit: For clarity sake, Vic said that Childress "Appears" to be out of the picture, not "may" be. Same thing, but since I used the quotes...
