He was average. He had three bad years, one very good one and one up and down one. In 2005 that team was all LT. 1500 yards and 18 TDs. 3-3 in stretch. Brees faded at the end. In the last three wins they had as many rushing yards as passing yards. In the playoff push he was not good before he got hurt in the last game. They lost 2 of three before that. The second last game that they had to win against KC he was horrible. The last seven drives of the game they had 5 punts an int and over on downs.
Don't need to compare stats. The Chargers are on all the time in LA. I always liked watching them. They had a lot of fun players in those days. So I saw them a lot. Brees was just okay most of the time in his five years. And pretty good about a third of the time. If they thought he was very good they don't draft Rivers. Period.
I watched a lot of those games. As a rookie he got beat out by an absolutely washed up and terrible Flutie. He was not a good quarterback at all his second year. They didnt have to draft Rivers, look what they did to get Brees, trade the pick get LT and then choose a QB at 32.
The Dolphins chose Culpepper because they were still worried about Brees shoulder. According to Saban, years later, Saban said he wanted him but the Fins medical staff overruled him. That always sounded fishy to me.
Two days ago there was an article from Charlotte observer about Dorsey interviewing with Bills. No mention or insinuation he asked for release. Just the opposite. That he will still be integral to rejuvenating Cam.

I believe that he is. He is still on the official Bills coach page although that page is not completely reliable. Assistants get a lot shorter contracts. Kromer's for instance, was already up. I believe the Bills allowed Lal to interview for jobs but not sure that rumor was true.
Yep. What will be interesting is if Dennison is a system guy, or a more system/play to your player strengths guy. If Tyrod is the guy, and I'm thinking more and more he will be, we will know within about 3-4 games.
Tyrod could easily be a Jake Plummer 2005 QB. Ton of effective rollouts. 18 TD 7 Int. 90 rating. Pro Bowl. 13-3.
Not at all saying we are going 13-3. Far from it. But that kind of season from a limited quarterback was very effective.
Easy. I was talking about production and stats and credit for it. It's Kubiak's system, his offense and game plans and he did the play-calling. Guys like Kubiak and McCarthy and Andy Reid that run the whole offensive show and call the plays are on the 80% end. So sure, guys Dennison did the smaller percentage of the offense that Kubiak ran. But he never ran an offense, had a system of his own, so he doesn't get the credit for it and shouldn't take the blame either.
That's true. And good post. As far as Im concerned he's our guy now and he has a clean slate, even if I'm not all that inspired. We could have done a hell of a lot worse. I'm also of the school of thought to keep Tyrod, so if Dennison is in favor of that I will think a lot more of him.
Yep. He does. And Dennison has terrific experience, as a player in three Super Bowls, special teams coach, defensive coach, tight ends coach, you don't find better experience than that.
Yup. And maybe get Von Miller to announce the games.
I said it above. I'm always wary of guys who were OCs under HCs who ran the entire show on that side of the ball and called plays, too. It's possible he will do well on his own. And he had great experience. But it was always Kubiak. I'm rooting for him.
Cutler does not seem to be a Sean McDermott kind of guy. I would doubt that is the player that SD is going to bet on to keep his first HC job out of the gutter.
I'm not sure what Twitter ire you're referring to but the Broncos offense was Kubiak, not Dennison.
Still, he has great experience. Maybe he just needed a chance to step out on his own.
I'm always wary of how much credit to give any OC under a HC who runs the whole offensive show like Kubiak does. I like Dennison's experience but he's never really had his own offense. I'm sure he's prepared for it, and has it ready to be installed. But it's still a guy who never ran the show.
Lot of experience. Uninspiring hire, for me. I am glad we got a guy who has done the job though. If you gave me ten choices he would probably be near the bottom though.
I would argue that around the league, frazier, Castillo, waufle, babich, and boras were very strong hires. Skipper perhaps not. But the rest of them are successful veteran hires.
None of them anywhere anytime say anything you can take to the bank. Anyone can parse these things any number of ways but less than zero real information is the norm. It's the equivalent of a network (usually female) reporter asking HC questions before or at halftime of the game. Nothing is ever learned.
My original entry in this thread was the simple fact it was a theory - brought up by Shoop - about a clip - discussed by John Murphy - about a bills.com interview - days ago - by Chris Brown - interviewing Doug Whaley. I just thought no matter what was said it was ridiculous to parse it. All it was missing was Russ Brandon and Ron Burgundy.
