  1. He was ground chuck then for sure but the Rams had putrid quarterbacking. And their defense was killer. He was basically a conservative guy on offense, and a good coach. But that is kind of the point. He's Marty Scottenheimer. His limitations stopped him from being a great coach.
  2. 61-66 which was their prime they were 1st, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 2nd in scoring. They had an aggressive defense. Yes the game was way different but he was not at all a conservative guy. He attacked all game, just sometimes it was with a powerful running attack that bulldozed opponents.
  3. We need a stud WR though more than a stud DE. Our defense is very good without great LDE play and I think there is a good chance we re-sign Lawson. Let Murphy go. Hughes is still very good. Spend some FA money on a pass rusher and draft a WR high.
  4. I'm talking both sides of the ball though. He's conservative on defense too. A very good coach but bend but not break and he doesn't Blitz a lot. When we have we have been much better. The combination of a conservative offense with a bend but not break defense has VERY little room for error and almost all of our losses including today show that. I'm not just talking offense. It's both sides, time management, special teams, etc. The Broncos had a great defense.
  5. Sign Shaq and release Murphy and gamble on a young pass rusher you like. Pay Phillips although he is going to be overpaid.
  6. I would play Foster over McKenzie and activate Duke for 6-8 snaps a game. But McD is so worried about ST and they aren't that good.
  7. It's very tough to know where McD's influence ends and Daboll's independence begins. I personally think Daboll would be much more aggressive on his own. I think McD insists on running more and restraining Josh more than Daboll does.
  8. I do but not on that play. That was all on us. Not one of those receivers, more than 15-20 yards downfield, even started to look for the ball before he had to throw it. It's possible one of them ran the wrong route but not one of them even turned their head to look for the ball. I love John Brown but some plays he doesn't run his pattern to the end and sometimes Josh throws to him and if he's running full speed he may have a chance.
  9. It would be smarter to play to his ridiculous strengths than make him fit this offense.
  10. That was not at all a routine throw. He cannot under any circumstance throw it on a line or be short. The DB was right there. He cannot be long, which he was because it is out or the end zone. He cannot loft it unless it is perfect. That said, he had another chance later on a harder throw. But a top level QB hits one of those two. Neither was easy at all. But he needs to hit one of the two difficult ones. And he didn't. Neither was a routine throw. And he did hit two ridiculous bombs. I think this is a huge problem but more McD dictating than Daboll. Hard to know. But I think Josh and Daboll are hamstrung by McD.
  11. You're not very good at this, huh. You just said "Because the Pats score when they need to." That's the whole freakin' point! You don't give them that chance because they will score and beat you.
  12. That would actually help the run game tremendously. Especially a guy like Singletary.
  13. There was one play when the announcers were saying that Josh needs to get rid of the ball quicker and on the replay they were showing NOT ONE of the three receivers in his vision had even finished their pattern and looked for the ball. Not one. It was ridiculous. There was nothing and no one to throw at.
  14. Our running game is not our problem whatsoever. Singletary is ridiculous at getting as many yards as he should or can. It's not like this line is opening huge holes and no one is getting through them. Singletary has been amazing for the touches. Who do you want to take some of his touches?
  15. Why? Josh is excellent as a runner from 2 yards in. He can run or throw. Both Singletary and Gore are good for two yards. They have a very good record this year for red zone scoring from in close. They already scored earlier in the game from there. Why would we be doomed?
  16. It happens so often. Granted, because of the TV angles of the live play we see his rush every time easier than most. But it's pretty obvious.
  17. They won at home, they may not necessarily be a clearly better team. It's close. They're probably slightly better. But we can beat them and match up with them. And the margin is slight.
  18. Missed tackles has been their biggest problem the entire season. They would be a legendary defense without the numerous missed tackles. Not sure where that is coming from
  19. That was not an easy pass. Yes, we would love for him to hit it but he cannot risk it being short. He missed Knox earlier on an even harder one. It looked fairly easy but it was not at all. A lot of times the TV angles are grossly inadequate. That said, even though neither of those two passes were easy for anyone, you would have liked for him to hit one of the two. Anyone who thinks those were routine passes knows nothing. It needs to be a near perfect pass.
  20. We no huddle. We don't hurry up. There is a difference. But the bigger difference is when we put DiMarco and or Lee Smith in. That makes the defense put an extra defender or even two into the box. That hurts us way more than helps for numerous reasons.
  21. No question. I think for sure that McDermott would have kicked it. It's possible I guess he would have gone for two but highly unlikely. My point was 99% of every game I personally would kick it, tie it, and go to overtime. BUT... the Pats are SO good at scoring when they need to, especially a FG, this may be the only situation where I would go for two right at the end. Every decision you make at any time is what gives you the best chance to win. One play at the two yard line for the Bills because of Josh's running ability is likely at least 50%. The chance you will beat them in OT on the road is likely less than 50%. So this may be the only team you go for two against. Because it gives you a better chance to win.
  22. To me the spread is more important. Singletary is just ridiculous at making people miss, so they less players in the box the easier it is. Josh is much better when the defense is not bunched up all in the box for numerous different reasons, especially running when the blocking breaks down. He's able to scramble and run up the middle way better when they go three wide. It's not even close. The Ravens, Steelers and Pats are at their best when they crowd the line and pressure you. It makes NO sense to draw the defense in. None.
  23. Yep. It was dumb against the Steelers and it didn't work. The fact they won is immaterial. It rewarded bad behavior. They're clearly better with three wide, one TE and one RB. And in the no huddle. It's not even close.
