  1. While impossible to know for sure, I imagine they chose this guy ONLY because he knew the Dennison system and therefore could play in a couple days and give the WRs and TEs and RBs still fighting for jobs a fighting chance... and that during the regular season they keep TT and Peterman as we both expect, they will choose a different young arm for the PS to try to develop. This guy wasn't even in a camp.
  2. While it is inarguable that the Bills have sucked for twenty years, I am of the opinion that a GM and anyone on the personnel side needs to always, always, always think in terms of short term, midterm, and long term simultaneously - and one of the main problems we have had is everyone was always thinking only in terms of short term and ignoring mid and long term. That said, knowing these jokers were only thinking short term at the expense of midterm and long term, it's incredible that they managed to have botched the short term so much.
  3. While that is a good point, you're still asking the management team to choose someone to run their new business they genuinely believe is inferior to another guy, whether they have a track record or not. You hired them because you believe in their judgment and vision. Now you are asking them to take a lesser manager.
  4. Exactly. And tangibles are much better than oranges.
  5. Would you rather hire a new manager for your widget company that will make you more money this coming year but is not as good a manager as another guy you believe will make you less money this year but more for the next 10-20 than the first guy?
  6. Where is Geno Smith when you really need him?
  7. The same reason that a coupon worth $5 off a pizza in a year isn't nearly worth as much to you as a $5 off coupon that is good for right now. In fact, the reason that it is somewhat consensus opinion around NFL circles that you lose approximately one round for each year is that ESPN polled all 32 owners, head coaches and GMs and asked them would they rather have $4 off a pizza today or $5 off a pizza in a year, and 92 of the 96 said $4 today.
  8. I think we could still get a sixth for Kyle Williams.
  9. Why not give the guy two weeks instead of a few days.
  10. If they don't think TT is ready, I think there is 90% chance they sign a veteran QB that may have to play game one, a hugely important game in their season considering it it is their first, the coach and GMs first, and against the lowly Jets where a loss is intolerable.
  11. Then they sign a veteran QB to play Thurs and backup J Peterman game one.
  12. The signing of Wenning makes me believe that the Bills all but know Tyrod is back for game one, which is some relief.
  13. Who was it that said Wenning isn't everything, he is the only thing?
  14. Of course not, but it's value. Two years from now, when the pick is made in the fourth round, Beane and McD could be fighting for their jobs after two straight terrible seasons. I'm not predicting that it's just a fact. One year from now they won't be under that particular gun. And a fourth round pick is likely not going to help them in that third year. That's why picks are thought to be devalued about a round per year.
  15. How does it hurt the team? On the field? No. In the front office where the main decision makers are new? No. With the training or scouting staff knowing RR is no longer a fit? No. In the locker room where they may like the guy but feel bad for him because he will likely not be able to reach his potential in this system? Probably not. With the fans? Maybe some like yourself but by a short gaze into all of the responses the fans seem to be more glad we got what we did or glad he will get a chance in a system that plays to his strengths. I'm not completely happy with the trade but don't really know what he has done in camp. If Beane and McD think that it is only a matter of time before RR is fully healthy and could still be a force in this league like a lot of people do I don't like it much. If they think that he is just too slow and a deficiency of pass coverage in a passing league so even at 100% he is not going to be more than a 1-2 down average starter then I think they got good value. Either of those could be true. A fourth round pick, even though guy's around the NFL value them very rarely pan out. A 5th rounder, which this is equivalent to, even less.
  16. We have a head start on winning the 2019 offseason.
  17. I do. The 2019 fourth round pick stands a 9.36% chance of becoming a decent NFL starter or contributor by 2021 and beyond.
  18. He was at the stadium exactly two hours before the game he wasn't going to play in. He probably didn't think it was all that important to miss stretching he wasn't going to do. McD, however, wanted all the players on the team to go through what his game day road experience was to be like, so it would not be new to anyone when they did it during the regular season. That is why guys like Glenn and Matthews traveled with the team and even did some warmups. So McD had good reason to be strict about this. I think it was a very minor infraction that deserved its penalty. I sometimes stick up for Dareus but his interview was awful. He acted like a jerk imo. He should have been much more apologetic for breaking the team rule.
  19. That's what I was thinking. If Beane and McD know a few things: That 1) Thomas is making the team at TE3, that they were good with Peterman at QB2 and were going to release Yates and only keep two active QBs and 3) all but know TT will be back 100% by opener then I think it's a good idea. Even if they bring in a # 4 guy to play some Thursday and not risk Peterman hurt.
  20. Laconfora saw him arrive at the stadium two hours before the game by himself and some players were already stretching on the field. He was very likely just late to arrive, although it was still two hours before the game. Inexcusable though. Just show up on time.
  21. Sure. But they had a great center there. That one example doesn't at all say to me they value the center position more than anyone else would. But I understand what you are saying.
  22. This wasn't a restructure. It was a full two year extension. It will be for starter money both years
  23. Why would McDermott have anything whatsoever to do with what the Panthers did with or especially paid their center?
  24. They haven't said yet. May not although it will likely come out tonight or tomorrow. Chances are high he was late for a meeting. If it was something last night it wouldn't have happened/been learned at 5pm, they would have sent him back earlier today.
  25. All reports so far this year are that Dareus has worked extremely hard, from a few different coaches and a couple players.
