  1. Yep. Gilmore played pretty good. If we believe McCourty saying it was his fault. But the Pats D overall, missing some parts, just like their offense, looks vulnerable. I'm not at all ready to imagine that as a trend
  2. It was just a stupid thing to say. I imagine that he wishes he didn't say it. It's just dumb But Michaels has been very good at what he does for a long time. He's getting old. I'm giving him a break. The Pats have three Bills players. Hogan is average. Gilislee will help them a lot and I wish we kept him but they have three other guys. Gilmore they gambled on. They don't usually pay that much money. Satan obviously thought he was great. We'll see.
  3. The top pick or top.two doesn't mean or guarantee anything. You have to get lucky AND be smart. Is Goff, Wentz or Dak the guy you want? Is Marriota or Winston the guy? There are precious few sure things. The only one in the last ten years is Luck and a lot of fans don't even think he is worth it. Even high first round picks are less than 50-50 to become solid franchise quarterbacks. There are only 10-12 people in the world who can excel consistently.
  4. That's what booze can do to you. Yes, Edelman. But I guess the point is the same. Bellichick was prescient enough to groom Edelman to do what Welker did. Then he acquired Amendola to be his failsafe. But Amendola can't take the physical punishment Welker and Edelman could. Hogan surely can't. This could really affect their efficiency in a huge way.
  5. Do you think Bellichick is a shrewd evaluator of talent or he really doesn't know what he is doing?
  6. I agree. Until proven otherwise we are still talking maybe the best coach ever and one of the best QBs ever. One game doesn't show anything.
  7. Exactly. Key word: But. Chances are they will still be the Patriots and still the team to beat.
  8. Ignoring anything more important or more physical (obviously a Navy Seal or 100 other jobs are harder) it's hard to imagine a more difficult job to succeed in than analyst for an NFL game. It's self-evident by the fact there isn't one, ever, that is consensus good. You have to have a good voice, speak clearly, live, on the spot, constantly making new insightful comments, that appeal (this is the biggie) to casual fans as well as ultra serious fans, cannot repeat yourself, cannot take back any thing you say, cannot be too inside baseball or too generic, cannot truly criticize players or coaches or teams or the league, cannot ballwash, cannot favor teams or players you know, and constantly be entertaining and insightful and fresh. Live. Always. It's an impossible job. Which is why there is rarely if ever a guy most everyone likes.
  9. One game means nothing as of now. The next two three will either show a vulnerability or show this was an aberration. There are reasons to believe that there are chinks in the armor. We'll see.
  10. After this loss, Brady goes to 51-2 against AFC opponents at home in regular season since 2007. That's insane. Pats looked vulnerable though. Berry hurt really hurts Chiefs. Pats D was weak. Welker out really changes them. Hogan can't play that position, and neither can Amendola because he won't last. Outside of Brady that's the most important position on their offense. More than Gronk.
  11. It is possible that Gilmore is overrated. I personally thought he was substantially better than most Bills fans seemed to think. I assumed we wouldn't sign him because some team would offer him an outrageous amount he probably wasn't worth. I was shocked by how much Satan offered him. And until Satan is shown to make a LOT of mistakes, so many that his team actually suffers, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. That Gilmore is very good and worth it. Satan isn't infallible. He makes mistakes. He made a huge investment in Gilmore. Inarguably the best coach in football thought Gilmore was great. You can't even question that by the contract Satan offered. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  12. When I was living in Phoenix from the mid 80s to the mid 90s I became a huge Suns fan. The Barkley years. One of the last years Danny Ainge was the coach. The Suns lost their first eleven or so games. Ainge's son, who was about eight years old or so, came home from school and went up to his dad and said, "Knock knock." Danny Ainge said, "Who's there?" His kid says "Owen." Ainge says "Owen who?" His kid says "Owen Eleven."
  13. 20-17 Bills. Bigger scare than it should be. We control the game but don't score. Jets get a fluke TD or turnover that gives them the lead. We could lose if McDermott isn't ready to make good decisions under pressure. I think, however, we hang on at home.
  14. No way to just assume they are vulnerable but they were bad. No Welker really hurts them. Brady was off. The line didn't run block. Hogan did nothing. Defense was very vulnerable. They were out coached of all things. They really had no answers on offense or defense. It's just one game. I'm just assuming it's an aberration.
  15. Steal and deflate footballs I think.
  16. They have four or five good RB. And yet they choose him to get the ball at the goal line and the most carries.
  17. We have a game. Alex Smith leading the league in TD passes and sacks.
  18. How so? He scored 8 TDs last year and led the league in average per carry. We have no good guy like him now. He scored two TDs already in his first half on the Pats. They went out of their way to acquire him and paid a good amount for him.
  19. Bills a good bit worse without Mike, Patriots a good bit better with Mike.
  20. I wouldn't count him out one tiny bit but he's been off quite a few times already. I assume it's just rust. Hopefully it's aged rust.
  21. Apparently the name TDMike went a little over his head.
  22. Who had Alex Smith leading the league in sacks at any point in this season? Anyone?
  23. Gillislee is good. Said it was dumb to not re-sign him when it happened, will say it again, and probably all season. He's going to score 20 TDs on this team if he stays the short yardage back and doesn't get hurt.
  24. Why do you ever rush three against Brady. It's so stupid.
