Holy smokes. Bad enough it was the most critical play in the game. It was after a timeout that IMO they never should have called, and they knew there's were 10 men on but couldn't call another because of the penalty. Truly fortunate. But our guys made the play.

Derek Carr - Emotional? Or a Jerk?

The kind that will bend over backwards for you. I never really understood that. -

Three weeks I think. Cincinnati, Bucs, then Raiders. -
Hate to say it, and its obvious, but the Pats and Brady are incredible at that. Both of the last two weeks the Bills game ended a little before the Pats game did. A week ago, when Brady got the ball before the last drive, I thought to myself, unbelievable, he is going to do this AGAiN. I expected it. And he did it. When I saw them down by 14 in the fourth I totally expected them to tie it and then win in overtime. I was very surprised they lost a game when they were down 14 late, and the did tie it before losing. It's ridiculous, cheaters or not.

How incredible would it be if EJ is the starter when they come to New Era. -
The waiting is the hardest part. Or at the very least, don't do me like that.

i understand the distinction. They didn't have to make the distinction either way. I see why people arguing it was in his control are saying it, too. He tries to regain possession and he gets his fingers on it. That, to me, my opinion, is clearly non possession by both sight and logic. It didn't need to be stands or confirmed. That happens other times with questionable calls. They call it stands when it's clearly confirmed. -

I think that shows he didn't have control. He tries to regain but can't. It he had control the ball would not have gone five yards. -
Bills vs. Falcons Postgame

Not sure if this was brought up here or elsewhere but Bad Santa said an interesting thing on GR today. The whole interview was worth listening to for his insight, especially about McD. He also said that the defense in general and Tre White in particular, every day in practice, will pick up any loose ball like that, whether it's an incomplete pass or not, and scoop it up and run it all the way back to the other endzone. White does that all the time. That's really a great thing. -

On the Micah Hyde call, the rule is, and was perfectly enforced, that the ground can aid your catch if you show clear possession and the ball doesn't move from the contact to the ground. Even though it was inarguably clear the ball hit the ground, Hyde had two hands on it and the ball didn't move. So they rightfully ruled it a catch according to the rules. If the ball would have moved a tiny bit they would have ruled it incomplete because the ball moving indicated no longer having total possession. Same thing with the Ryan play. The fact it moved out of his hand was the reason for the ruling, no longer control and possession. -

What's funny about that is I first saw that stat after the game on Twitter. Then I went to ESPN stats, just because it was the first one that came up on the google search. And I made sure that the stats I looked at were from four games and not three. And the first two I saw were definitively four games. So I just assumed it had been updated. And that's what they showed. In retrospect maybe they were in the middle of updating the stats. -

Thornton has played pretty decent each game. -
has Jerry Hughes turned over a new leaf?

The two years previous he was in the Insane Clown Posse defense. No one was ready or sure what they were supposed to do, as well as frustrated. He's an emotional guy. Now they just ask him to line up and do mostly the same thing every play. It shows. -
They have been sellling these for a few years.

I thought they took him off life support and he passed away. Perhaps premature report.

Micah Hyde is our best defensive player so far

Top five reasons for the 3-1 start - in order

Luck for sure. Although I think most fans believe in general you make your own luck and the fact we haven't made a lot of mistakes directly correlates to that luck. Injuries or lack thereof has helped for sure. This coming week will be a test. Going back to the 4-3 I think has to be attributed to coaching period. -

One of the reasons the Seahags didn't try harder to keep Hauschka was because he missed six extra points last year and four the year before. But he's been a very reliable kicker overall. -
That just sucks. More crap to a crappy day after a Bills win. RIP Tom.

I assume many of us have a different hierarchy of what has been the most important elements to our unexpected success. It includes entire units, single players, coaches and front office. Just for an exercise, please list your personal top five. Include reasons if you like. Mine are: 1. Coach McD, who has won me over, for his getting the players ready and on the same page and producing on all three phases. 2. The defense as a whole. Incredible as a unit with all three sub-units producing. 3. Hauschka. Tough choice but both of the last two wins had a lot to do with phenomenal kicking. 4. Tyrod. With no real run game and no real weapons he's been great. Not overall great. Just relative great. 5. The DBs as a unit. Really tough choice. Front seven have helped tremendously. All four individually have been very good. Tre as a rookie; sheesh. Micah has been our best player I think.

Holmes might be okay as a patchwork. He caught an easy TD. He showed quick reflexes and awareness for a second TD. Yesterday he caught a nice pass over the middle for a first down I think. He has had genuine success in the league before. We had planned on him being the number two before the season started and he didn't have a good preseason but he possesses talent. I'm not sure he can produce but it's possible.

That's a good point. I was torn on opening night. I wanted the Chiefs to lose more than the Pats before it started. But watching the game I wanted the Pats to lose. That surely was not a no brainer. It was easy to watch that game and not care because a loss to either was good in some real way.

That's a very good assessment. I would add that Tyrod himself missed three quarters of preseason games because of his injury, which hurt his growing into the offense. I wouldn't say Dareus is an F at all. Maybe C. He had an injury last week. He was decent yesterday. The defense has been fantastic but we have one clear weakness, the 10-20 yard zone in the middle of the field, and yestday had issues with backs out the backfield. And we are truly in a bend but not break defense and we are clearly not breaking but there is the bending part. So it's quibbling but I would say A and not A+. Dennison has been pretty good at times. I would give him a C because he should have run this offense all four games he did last game. Plus the Dennison and McD Tolbert fetish rivals the Rex Ryan toe fetish. It's just... Ewww. Special teams K game has been extraordinary. P game very good. Return game terrible. The long return we gave up yesterday in the fourth could have hurt us bad. So I think that's more of a B+. Hauchska has been A++.
