Are the Bills Oppressing Anquan Boldin?
Kelly the Dog replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think, but I am not positive, that I read he gave the signing bonus back. -
That is what we don't know. I imagine that Beane and McD were pissed at him. I imagine some of the players were, too. That he gave up on them. Who knows. Players often think different than we do. More importantly, I think we need WR but I don't think we need him. Matthews and Jones are both possession players who should be playing out of the slot. We don't need a third guy who is much slower. We need big play guys that can play outside and open up the field and make the safeties not crowd up to stop Shady. We probably don't want him.

That one was pretty amazing. How high it was. He crushed it.

No. He's not. The shirt he was wearing was about Malcolm X, someone he admired, who was willing to sit down and talk with Castro to see if they could agree on some things even though they disagreed on a lot of things. That concept was something Kaep thought was a wise thing to do. Then when asked about it, Kaep said that at least Castro spent more on education than prisons. And it wasn't just high school. You ignored 4.0 in college and 38 Wonderlic. He's a smart guy.

It probably doesn't. I have to make decisions all the time about projects and jobs. Usually, most everything has to be right about them or I won't consider it. I want to work and may like the money but I don't want to do something unless 5-6 different criterion are met. I think that is what he is doing. In addition, it's almost impossible for any of these guys in any sport to walk away when they are not absolutely forced to. I think guys second guess their retirements all the time thinking they could play one more year - or one more half year - and really help someone. They're of course, fooling themselves, but they believe it and it doesn't make them liars in my mind for trying to see if some team wants to give them that last chance.

He'd probably have something thoughtful to say about it. He's a very smart guy. 4.0 high school student. 4.0 college student. 1650 SATs. 38 Wonderlic. People that think he's just some dumb, spoiled or angry street thug are ill-informed idiots. I understand if you don't agree with his stance or his actions one bit. People mouthing off about him knowing nothing about him are 10x more ignorant than they are accusing him of being. And I'm against him kneeling for the anthem and always was.

LOL. That's awesome.

Yep. I think he was just wrong about what the team could do. And I think he wasn't honest when he gave his reasons for why he retired. It's possible, however, that he was protecting the Bills by not saying what he felt, that the team was not interested in winning this season but rather trading assets for future considerations he wasn't going to be around for. That could have been legit. And he would have been just wrong in his calculation and not a jerk for lying.

Myself and a lot of people thought that he was somewhat excited that someone offered him decent money to come play on a team coming off a good offensive season where he would be the slot receiver and mentor to Watkins and Zay Jones. He thought he had a decent shot at the playoffs and serve a purpose. When they traded Watkins, we thought that he was discouraged and (perhaps wrongly) thought this team is not going anywhere and his excitement and optimism for the season went away, as is we were tanking.

Go Ravens! Nice tackle there.

They actually talked in the spring. Volin says "he remains intrigued" but that means nothing to me. There is no quote from Boldin. There is no real inference Volin recently spoke to him specifically about it. There is no report of contacting Bills. I think it was all speculation from the earlier contact because Welker had just gone down.

There are a lot of intangibles. Turnovers are a big momentum swing. A score after a turnover can increase that a lot. Also a lot of turnovers give the offense good to great field position. An inability to score somewhat negates the turnover. The scores themselves aren't different as any other. But I can see why people think it's important. Just the amount of times teams go for a big play immediately following one shows that.
-
That's exactly what I thought. And then that he (probably) miscalculated that this team had a real shot at the playoffs. And it's hard to blame him. The Bills don't need a slow possession receiver now. If anything this is a good thing. I doubt we make a trade. But if, say, Jacksonville wanted to give us a 6th or 7th, even though they are relatively worthless, it's more than we have now.

PFF 2017 QB rankings - Taylor # 7!
Kelly the Dog replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all arm strength is not adequately measured by mph at combine. There are endless examples of that. In 2012 Cousins had 4 mph higher than Russell Wilson. Cousins has an average arm at best. Wilson has a cannon. One year Mike Glennon had the worst. One of the only things he has is a strong arm. Dalton and Cam Newton tied one year. That's not even close. Second, while Taylor had a 50, Peterson had a 49. http://blogs.ourlads.com/2017/03/16/quarterback-ball-velocity-at-nfl-combine-2008-2015/
