  1. Big difference. You're playing with your emergency QB who is not even a #3. Way less chance to have a long game winning drive. Also WAY less chance to kick a FG for the win, let alone the length of the kick. Plus a tie is as good as a loss. So that factors in a LOT.
  2. It seems comparable but to me it's not. In normal circumstances, with your regular QB, and ability to kick FGs you could easily argue to count on your defense to stop them. In this game, with the conditions, Joe Webb, and inability to kick, combined with a tie is as good as a loss, made it a completely different and easy decision to go for it.
  3. Yep. That was a clear PI or pick that directly affected the play. Easy call.
  4. That one is a no brainer. He has no more timeouts. He has to go for that one. Im usually a try to see the other side kind of guy. And a lot of decisions like the one for this thread, even if I think it's an easy call, it could still be a 60-40 easy call. You can see the other side. I can't believe still that McD made that call. I think it was like 95-5 chance. It was a bad call, but it worked and we have to thank him for it. Doesn't mean it wasn't a bad call.
  5. Who's really not even a QB anymore. He would be somewhere between three and emergency.
  6. I haven't been on the Milano bandwagon like a lot of fans have been but today I thought he had a very good game. Made a bunch of good smart solid plays.
  7. But a tie equals a loss to us. That's the reason it was so bad.
  8. Ha. I picked the same four at the top and then Milano for Washington. But Ferguson was great on the snaps. Both teams long snappers were. It was pretty amazing there were, what, only two turnovers the whole game? And not many mistakes like that.
  9. It was a terrible call. But I don't think you can compare it to any other game because of several factors. Obviously the extreme conditions. But on your third QB who is not even a QB. The fact it is in OT and this late in season when a tie equals a loss, etc. All those additional factors made it a worse call than it would have been in normal conditions.
  10. Fitzy is arguably the smartest player in the league and he makes muttonhead decisions on a regular basis.
  11. Webb can't play QB for any length of time but he's an amazing athlete and had a few very important runs. It was a good idea to use him in wildcat last week. He should get some plays either way.
  12. His time management is really bad. He's a first time head coach on any level. There is a small learning curve. But he's made some gross errors.
  13. That's one of the main reasons it was such a bad call.
  14. Shady webb schmidt reid ferguson milano had a nice game
  15. The poker analogy is a good one. Sure you make a reckless or gut decision sometimes and it works. Doesn't make it a good decision. It's not like a bluff where it is a strategy. It's hitting on 18.
  16. It was a horrible call, but it worked. So in that situation it's tough to blame him. There will never be another situation like this with all the variables to compare it to. The real problem with this is that it rewards bad behavior. On the other teams 40?
  17. He always goes for it. You're nuts.
  18. They should have added a game to it after whatever he said, which was more fair anyway, because it had to be criminally stupid.
  19. First off, just because a team loses a lot doesn't mean it was a "tank." But... the strategy the McBeane duo decided on was awful, and the equivalent of a half tank, which is the worst idea. Either you go all out or you prepare for the future. They wanted both and they got neither (at this point). We don't know, no one does, if this "process" is going to work. I like a lot of what I see and don't like a lot of other stuff. They need to be given a chance to right the ship. And we may not even know next year. But the wishy washy strategy of this year, to me, is not the way to go. We end up 8-8 and not great picks to get the franchise guy and don't have a great feel for a few players. They needed to go one way or the other.
  20. The WR were getting zero separation all game. They were terrible. As was Dennison. As was Tyrod, but it's not like he had guys running free all over.
  21. McDermott and Beane specifically are stocking the team with Boy Scouts. You aren't going to see what you want.
  22. He will be suspended a game, and maybe two reduced to one, because it doesn't matter. If the Pats were in a must win game next week that's when it would be dicey for the league. That was one of the worst plays I've ever seen, worse that the Suh kicks or fight last week or any in recent memory. For a lot of reasons. The play was over for two seconds. He was on the sidelines and down. He was defenseless and hit from behind. You could see Gronk stand over him, wait, then make the decision to drill him (the worst part of it), plus he can be mad about the non-call, but it wasn't dirty, it didn't hurt, it wasn't cheap, it was the official's fault they didn't call it not White's. That decision he made, consciously, is EVERYTHING the league wants to stop. He has to be suspended. But it will end up one game they don't really need. So it's easy decision for league.
  23. It was insane. He didn't make enough plays. But they completely screwed him. There wasn't one rollout or naked boot. The WR were brutally awful this game. They can't trust blocking so they send only 3-4 guys out against six and no one is open. Dennison is criminal.
  24. Funny. I think the opposite. I think Belichick is the GOAT and that without him, Brady would be great but not nearly as great. I think, for instance, that Brady would be killed if he were on the Bills. Belichick has his amazing offense that he runs, or has Brady run, but he has consistently found 5-8 OL each year who pass block tremendously for TB. He gets guys that fit his system on offense and defense. He outcoaches every coach in game plans on both sides of the ball. I think with crappy coaching and lousy blocking, Brady would get abused, however great a passer he is.
  25. Good read and good idea. I can really relate to the Ducasse story because I cry every time I see him out on the field.
