    It's been NFL policy for decades to let the player who has been with the team before to start the workouts as the incumbent. It's ceremonial but makes sense. I doubt Peterman makes the 53, regardless of the fact that McDermott clearly likes him

    Yep. A great defense versus just a good defense, helps an average offense a lot. Turnovers, field position all game, actual points, time, more drives, etc.

    I don't think we are going to sign him either. It's possible but not very likely. We do have the money and the need. We don't know if Beane and McD want him at his price or he wants the Bills at his price. Probably not.

    The very definition of "****ty fan" is not wanting the team to succeed or improve just so you can be proven right on an opinion. Look it up. Cover One did about twenty videos on that very thing.

    We need about 3m to sign Allen and we have about 17 post-Ritchie. We have a lot of money to spend and not come close to the cap.

    Yeah, it's impossible to tell with these guys. He won one so maybe that isn't his top priority. Some guys go for the city, some for the coaches, some for the money, some for the fit, some for what the wife and kids want, etc. Usually there are numerous factors that go into it. I just was saying that I'm not sure we have to overpay for defensive players just because "it's the Bills."

    Agreed. The LBs could go from abysmal before the draft, to exciting post draft and this signing, if it were to happen.

    Probably not, but we could probably get Zay Jones to teach him how to break up passes. For that matter, he could help all the LBs and DBs.

    For an offensive player like a WR we may have to overpay, or even an OL. But I think players around the league know McD as a solid defensive coach and would like to play in his defense, especially with several other good players.

    He doesn't have to clear waivers as a veteran.

    He did because I did. But you got my original point. Player B just wants out for any reason. Forget age. Forget a specific other team. He just throws a fake tantrum and “because he’s a detriment to the team” the Bills just release him. It’s a bad precedent.

    So what happens when Jerry Hughes decides he doesn’t want to play for the Bills anymore. He wants to play for the Pats. He throws a fit and retires. They just let him do it?

    And it was the season before. He came in late and we won the first four or five games.

    You don’t offer a guy $9m a season without knowing what his injury is about. The Eagles don’t make a trade for a #1 pick without knowing. That’s ludicrous. That story was played out to make the Bills not look bad in their negotiations. I recall arguing about this here non stop when it happened.

    The Bills offered Peters $9m. They knew everything they needed to know about him and the injury and his agent and the marketplace. They just didn’t want to pay him the market rate. Philly not only was willing, they gave the Bills a #1 pick to have the pleasure and honor of paying him $10m.
