Peterman is now officially TRADE BAIT
Kelly the Dog replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
18 yards in the air is not a long pass. Sorry. Regardless of the short v long delineation in that kind of play by play. And the other one wasnt a play. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 1
Kelly the Dog replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was awful. He didn’t track the ball well on the bomb you mentioned he could have caught. Way worse there was another bomb to him that was overthrown by three yards except he stopped running for it then saw it was coming and started again. It likely would have hit him in stride. Coaches are going to kill him in the tape sessions. And I was really pulling for the guy. He did get open though. -

Great throw and catch. I mentioned it several times in posts. Still didn’t show the things he needs to show to succeed. -
Don’t buy NFL app for live stream.
Kelly the Dog replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Game Pass has a history of not working well on phones or tablets as far as live streaming. I'm not sure why. Some people it works for and I have heard a lot of complaints from others. Tonight for me, through a laptop, projected onto a big screen and other monitors, it worked great. Better than ever. -
Caption this! KB vs Cam edition
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think if you look closely, Benjamin kept saying Donkey Kong Suh, and Cam had no idea what that meant and it pissed him off. -
Being on here and other sites and twitter every day since he's been here? If you had to say what does Nate Peterman do well you wouldn't say he knows where he wants to go with the ball presnap, makes quick decisions, has a quick release and throws an accurate short pass? He hasn't ever shown any consistent ability to complete long passes or deep outs or deep crosses or anything over 20 yards that wasn't a lob or showed the requisite arm strength. There was one excellent sideline toss of 21 yards last preseason. There wasn't even one attempt tonight.

Are we now a pass first offense?
Kelly the Dog replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not a chance. They need to find out who is going to win the QB job. Shady didn't play. That's why they threw all the time. i did very much like the offense Daboll ran though. Way better than Dennison. -
Observations from the Carolina preseason game
Kelly the Dog replied to KingBoots8's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ivory is extremely good. Not a chance he is cut. He's the perfect compliment to Shady and has been one of the top 2-3 hardest runners in the entire league. The only question mark is whether his legs are shot and one play in TC and even one tonight, which was terrific, showed it's not. He's going to be a valuable player this year. -
I can name every pass he threw. He did not throw one ball that required requisite arm strength. Not one. He played excellent, doing the one thing we already know he does very well. That doesn't show me anything. That's like watching Stephon Curry shooting free throws and saying "that guy is an amazing shooter!" He may be but he has to show the ability to hit ten other kinds of shots. Peterman has never shown that ability. He has shown exactly what he did tonight, he just did it great tonight.

He did not throw one pass downfield tonight. He did not throw one pass that required any arm strength whatsoever. What are you talking about? The TD was a less than 20 yard lob. -
Name the throws when he was terribly inaccurate. There were a couple at most. Name any throw when he had time and space and just missed it being inaccurate. He was pretty accurate. Reilly dropped his second pass that would have been a first down that was right on the money. Foster misjudged two bombs that were great passes. One deep pass to Foster was OB (his first one) but 60 yards in the air you cannot say that was a bad pass because he is inaccurate.

So you believe that Nate never has to throw a ball downfield or a tough pass the rest of his career? -
Marcus Murphy: Looking Good for the 53
Kelly the Dog replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very true. Murphy, however, may Ben the exception. They signed him and kept him and even played him last year. There have been reports that he has been one of the consistent performers throughout camp. This isn't a one time thing. He showed numerous skills tonight. Great elusiveness, cutting and awareness. Great acceleration which has nothing to do with anyone you're playing. Very hard running each and every carry. Ability to catch. Ability to quickly change direction. Was back for KO. Really fought hard for yards at first down and near goal line. That's not at all the same of some RBs fans became infatuated with who had long runs or huge holes or 1-2 big plays. Murphy really shined. -
Helped themselves/Hurt themselves Preseason Game 1
Kelly the Dog replied to folz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing is, he was REALLY bad, and yet he was open if not wide open if not running by defenders all night long. Not enough reason to keep him. He sucked. But that is a talent we don't have. -

Agreed. The real problem is that a guy like Nate can look great in preseason. Colt McCoy can. Kellen Moore can. Trent Edwards could. A bunch of guys can. Because it's 80% speed and the stuff they can't do is not exposed. Peterman was great tonight. You can't fault him for a TD drive. I did think his Int was his fault for a pass well behind the receiver. But not matter how great he played or his stats were he NEVER EVER EVER showed that his fatal flaws do not still lurk. Not once. He didn't throw downfield. He didn't show velocity. He didn't handle a strong rush. He didn't look to his third and fourth read. He did what he does well very well. There are twenty other elements of quarterbacking he didn't show and no one can be good without showing them. -
Josh Allen ain’t bad
Kelly the Dog replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was vocal about not wanting to draft Allen. But the more you know about him and watch him and listen to him, the more you can believe in him. I've been convinced. Not that he is going to be a star but he has as good a chance as any of them. So much of a QB's success is preparation, attitude, coachability, desire, decency, humility, confidence (those two in a row seem contradictory but they're not), and leadership, that has nothing to do with ability. Allen has a LOT of stuff going for him. He has the size, the skills, the desire, and the fortitude to succeed. That's a huge advantage. There are still only 4-5 guys on the planet that excell at this job consistently. So all that he has doesn't guarantee anything. But he's ahead of the game. He has ALL the tools. Not a lot of guys have even that. Yes he did. Allen is our guy now though. I was very happy with him and he wasn't my choice at all in the draft. -
Not to mention that we have one star and one thing we do well and it's called Shady. Every team in the NFL if they really want to take away one element of your game can do a decent job of it. If we cannot get the ball downfield they can somewhat neuter Shady. That why we need the threat and arm of Allen.

Josh Allen ain’t bad
Kelly the Dog replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The escapability, strength under the rush to not be taken down, foot speed, awareness, etc, in his first game was extremely encouraging. Little stuff like that is a huge sign for me. I think he showed more than the other two guys, who had better games/stats, because he flashed those football skills all of which are important. -
No no no no no. Peterman played great tonight. But he did what Peterman does well. That's it! We already knew that. What all his fans like about him is what he did well. He DIDN'T do one thing to show he has improved on his deficiencies. Not once. In order to play QB at a high level in this league you have to do twenty five different things. He does a few. The things he hasn't shown he can do is what his detractors think will kill his chances. NOTHING he did tonight, no matter how well he played, affects that. You cant really fault him for doing what he does well. And his TD drive was terrific. I loved it. But it doesn't show that he can now do the stuff that prevented him from being an NFL QB. Not to mentiin that his INT was well behind his target when it was an easy pass.

What makes you think that? Peterman showed one thing well. It's an important thing, quick decision and release and short ball accuracy but it is one thing and we knew that already. McCarron showed a bunch of things, an ability to look to second and third options, an ability to handle the rush, an ability to throw downfield at least 20 yards. And has by all or most accounts been slightly better in practices.
