The ten qualities are obvious. There are about 25 a QB needs to show. Allen has already shown that he 1. can throw the deep out. 2. Can throw deep. Two of his three deep balls were great passes. The third was on the money but OB. 3. Can throw over the middle. 4. Can look off a CB and/or a Safety 5. Can deal with a Rush in his face. 6. can stand in the pocket and take a hit without flinching and still hit the pass (to Croom) 7. Can avoid the rush and roll out 8. Can run fast, be elusive, outrun LBs, know when to run, etc, (that is actually 3-4 different traits I'm grouping into one. 9.. Know down and distance (which he showed 3-4 times) 10. Terrific ball handling right off the bat (and shown throughout his college career) on handoffs and play action. 11. Can throw accurate on the run. 12. Command of the hurry up/two minute offense. He has had two chances and they scored 10 points. I could go on...

Please name Josh Allen the starter
Kelly the Dog replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He shouldn't be. They need to make a trade. They were willing to make him the backup last year and it was somewhat of a disaster. So they may do it again. Joe Webb of all people won the snow game. -
Refute either of those two things. Peterman has never once, in an NFL game, thrown a ball on a dart 30 yards. Not once. If not do that you cannot succeed. One play you can succeed. One game you cannot. If you do not know that you don't know football. He has never been able to handle a strong pass rush. Individual plays leaving the pocket early he has shown. Infrequently. He's awful against the rush. He did not show he could do it last week or this week. Immediately leaving the pocket and rolling out like he did once last week (and threw a very very good pass) is not the same thing. He sucks against the rush. He did all last year. He has this year. Allen immediately looked substantially better. The problem and the one thing I feared more than anything is that in practice, and in preseason games, Peterman can succeed. EcUde it is 3/4 speed. And coaches, even decent ones, can be fooled by that. Peterman played great last week. In 10% of what QBs have to do to be successful. All he can do is what he did last week. But we already knew that. He does one thing very well. He reads the defense presnap and throws an 8 yard pass immediately. That's all he does well. Yes, he threw an excellent TD pass to Benjamin. But it's an easy throw all QBs in the entire league can make. He was wide open and Peterman lofted it. Great pass. You cannot deny that. I loved it. But it did not in any way show that he can do the large number of things he cannot do. He's a poor man's Trent Edwards, who was better than Peterman and could not play in the NFL.

Marcus Murphy: Looking Good for the 53
Kelly the Dog replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Murphy tonight not only made the team but he could be the one player that COMPLETELY changes the entire roster. If Murphy can be the #3 RB which seems obvious, and the #1 PR which seems very reasonable AND the KR, then we may be able to keep an extra WR and an extra S or LB or DL or QB. That's a huge advantage. Two games in a row is not a fluke, especially watching the actual plays. That's a valauable guy. -
Please name Josh Allen the starter

Peterman is still horrible. That first pass should have been a pick six and in regular season it is. He cannot throw the ball downfield, and if he cannot, teams will jump routes all day long. He's terrible. -
There is nothing in two games that has showed us that Peterman has gotten over the two things he cannot do, which are his death knell. He cannot get the ball downfield. He cannot handle a strong pass rush. He sucks at both of them and no one can succeeed in real NFL games without an ability to do both. He does neither. Allen does both already. It's a no brainer.

I always thought Allen would start week one and now it seems a no brainer. i didn't expect him to look this good this early. He does so many things well right off the bat. Of course he is going to have some WTf throws, but he has had surprisingly little. He had had three straight drives and three scoring drives. He's already better than both those guys, because what he does they can't do is glaringly obvious. And it is not only arm strength. He is way better in less than one game at avoiding the rush than either of those other two. He's a better scrambler and runner and thrower and he stands in the pocket fearless. He's been remarkably accurate overall. The run by Murphy to the one yard line likely doesn't happen with McCarron or Peterman because Allen was driving down the field with his arm and then we ran. It was pretty obvious. No team, no defense, ever, at any time, is going to be scared of Nathan Peterman's arm. Never. Ever. -
LeSean McCoy allegations
Kelly the Dog replied to FeelingOnYouboty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on the breed, how he or she was actually treated. Some of them you cannot trust. Some of them just like to live in fancy houses and then look down on other dogs in the hood. -
If you consider it as a whole, for one two minute drive, in his first half of a game, it was absolutely insane. The ability to control the play, the avoiding the rush, the pure arm, the accuracy, etc, was off the charts. The play Foster stopped running was ridiculous. That's the top highlight for the entire league if he keeps running and it hits him in stride. Plus the throw to Kahri. Plus the TD. All in his first two minute drive ever. Taken in context, and detailed breakdown, that is way, way better than anything we saw out of Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold or any one else.

If Ray Ray Ray continues to play well he helps the team in a lot of ways. They may be able to keep one less RB. They may not need to keep a guy just for KR or PR (or keep a guy like Taiwan Jones as the KR who is a RB but not a very good one. He can also be used effectively on offense as a gadget back for reverses (they did one last night), jet sweeps, etc. Line him up as the RB and then put him in motion to get a LB trying to cover him out of the backfield. He could be a nice little jack of all trades player and allow us to keep an extra WR or S or QB.

Observations from the Carolina preseason game

You can't tell from the angle in that screen shot. The ball was behind him. He could have caught it but it was still behind him. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 1

It's kinda cool that he is Ray McCloud the third, and it even says McCloud III on his jersey, but it begs the question why isn't his name Ray Ray Ray? -

Reilly made one play where there wasn't a guy within ten yards of him, and dropped another. -
Allen should start with #1's
Kelly the Dog replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. And a lot of it, at least for me, was seeing what kind of guy he was, and how he was handling stuff, and watching several more full games of his. I had seen him play a few games and if you watch casually you can come away not as impressed as some of the other guys. But if you watch close and concentrate on what he did well and bad and what he had to deal with you could see more of why the Bills and some people were so high on him. I had seen all of Rosen and Darnolds games and a ton of Mayfield and Rudolph and Jackson. Anyway, I really like him now and like him substantially more after last night. He did a lot of things well, big and small. -

I hated the pick and he won me over since. I think he should start now. A lot of fans I know and post here hated the pick when it happened feel the same way I do. -

Yep. That's it. And it was fourth down. I bet he doesn't make that decision if it was third. He made very few bad decisions and a lot of good ones. I liked his game when I watched it live. When I watched the replay it looked even better. The third bomb to Foster was just insane. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 1
Kelly the Dog replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He thought it was going to be over because Allen rolled left and he didn't think Allen would throw it to him all the way on the right. But he did. It was an incredible play. Youre right it was a free play but Foster took off full speed and ran 30-40 yards before he decided to stop running. -
Helped themselves/Hurt themselves Preseason Game 1

Coleman clearly has the speed and the talent. I was talking about a receiver who always gets open. We don't know if Coleman can do that. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 1
Kelly the Dog replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. You're wrong. The first bomb to Foster was OB. The second bomb to Foster was the one you're referring to. I thought Foster looked too early and could have caught it and that was the one Tasker was talking about slowing down and not looking back which wasn't great commentary. It was the THIRD bomb when he completely stopped running. That is inarguable. That play started at 2:11 left. He would have caught it totally on the run in the endzone and it would have been the top highlight play in the entire league. You have to see the replay that they iso just Foster. It was brutal. He just figured Josh wouldn't throw it because he scrambled left but he did. And it was an amazing pass. -
Allen should start with #1's
Kelly the Dog replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The throw he makes to Foster with 2:02 left, when he avoids the rush twice, rolls left, then stops and guns it all the way across the field to the endzone is an absolutely tremendous play. If you watch the highlight it looks two yards too far. If you have the replay when they show Foster he stops running then starts again. If he just keeps running it's an incredible TD. Another indication of stats being deceiving and even some replays being deceiving. What a freaking play that was by Allen. -
It is. I said he had a great game. I was just pointing out the same things that were his death knell last year were not disproved by this great performance. He does one basic thing very well and he did it excellent last night. But that’s all he did. But if he cannot do what he was awful at last year he will never be good. It’s possible but highly unlikely imo.

Two of the three deep balls were excellent passes and should have been caught. The third was caught in stride but OB. That was not good but just faded on him.
