Please name Josh Allen the starter
Kelly the Dog replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen was 9-13 which is 69%. One of his incompletions was a spike to stop the clock. So he was actually 9-12 for 75%. These kind of stats are meaningless. -
Who will start preseason game 3 vs Bengals?
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he said was, "After today we will start to move into a blend into a normal week as we prepare for the next game. Part of that is so our players can get acclimated to the routine of a normal regular season week." That to me says Wednesday is game plan day and Friday is walk through of game plan day and Sunday is game day and all of those would be Allen days. -
Allen didn't make more than Peterman. Allen didn't throw any pass nearly as bad as Peterman's first which was a gift wrapped pick six dropped. Allen scored points on all of his drives, Peterman had three and outs. Allen didn't run out of bounds across the LOS and then throw a pass, which is a loss of down and a penalty. To me, it's relatively none because as I said before, 100 out of 100 NFL QBs would have seen the exact same thing. It's not recognition to just count to three or four.

Many teams, including the Bills I'm pretty sure, practice on Mondays and have Tuesdays off. It's because they want them to move a little the next day after the tough game rather than rest. I did a quick google search and the first few articles I clicked on showed that, discussing the Monday practice during the regular season last year. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/11/6/16612872/buffalo-bills-monday-injury-report-practice-charles-clay-ej-gaines-cordy-glenn-zay-jones https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/bills-marcell-dareus-missing-mondays-practice/ -
Only regular and post season games count. Peterman's performances in them has been godawful. The worst half in NFL history. The problems I and many others here had with him before, during and after his performances have not been fixed at all, even by his supposed stellar play this preseason. He hasn't thrown ONE PASS that that would allay those fears, which were the same reason he was a fifth round pick. And until he shows in real games that he can do what I and others say he cannot do, which he hasn't even shown in this historic preseason that he has had, that problem still exists.

I don't understand your reasoning. A normal game week schedule has the Bills start practice on Monday getting ready for the Sunday opponent. Today is Monday and Allen is in with the ones. Even if they switch days off, Peterman is with the ones tomorrow, but Allen is with them on the most important practice day of the week, Wednesday, when they install the game plan. I'm not saying any of this proves Allen starts or doesn't, I just don't understand the reasoning. The normal game work week seems to show the advantage to JA. -

You had your nightmare last game but the defender dropped it right in his hands. -

That was really weak effort by Breer. -

He also had to apologize to his team for making that mistake last year. You hardly ever hear of that. If he starts Peterman who tanks again, which is a very possible if not likely scenario, and maybe a Savage situation where he benches him at halftime of game one, is he going to want to apologize to the team again? I'm no fan of Peterman. But McD started Peterman with the ones in OTAs and in camp for a reason and something I could support. He rewarded Peterman for his off season work and his attitude, combined with not anointing Allen or even McCarron the starter, and he wanted Allen to beat the competition out in front of the team to win their support and trust rather than just hand him the keys to the car. It worked. Now you're seeing several members of the defense coming out and saying how good he is. It's setting McD up perfectly for his very logical plan and process to work. It's just a matter of when he pulls the trigger and makes Allen the starter. It could be this week. -
So you don't think that 100 out of 100 NFL quarterbacks would have looked at that defense Peterman was faced with, saw a safety and two defenders on two of our guys to the left, and saw only three defenders and no safety on our three receivers to the right, and wouldn't have immediately looked right, you know, where there were three single coverage guys, and seen one of them immediately rush, leaving his man wide open five yards down the field? That was some brilliant recognition?!! Watch the damn play. It's Pop Warner league stuff. You guys are embarrassing yourselves.

That's ridiculous. Stats tell only a small part of the story. People are not going crazy over Peterman's stats because of the kinds of throws he made and didn't make. If he threw some balls down the field or showed he could throw a deep out or deep dig then they would be giving him credit because he would have been showing things he hadn't shown before. We know he can do what he has been doing the two games. That's what's he's very good at. It's the stuff that a lot of fans think he hasn't shown or cannot do that he hasn't thrown. If all Allen has done is shown one thing, even if it was a deep ball there would be criticism of him. Like their was Tyrod. But Allen has already shown he can throw left, right or over the middle. Short, medium and long. Rolling left, right or in the pocket. He's shown it all. Nate has shown much less. He's done the same thing a bunch of times, stuff we knew he could do. I didn't answer it because it makes no difference and has nothing to do with anything. It would have been a dumb play before, during or after the lead change. It forced a punt. And it was only his third or fourth worse mistake.
-
I give him credit where I believe it is warranted. He doesn't deserve any special credit on that particular play if you watch it with your own eyes. He threw a couple very nice passes in the game. One to O'Leary that was not the TD play and one to Proehl on the sideline. He also made a bunch of mistakes.

NFL Network doesn't have a crew per se for these games. They just take the local broadcasts from each team. Sometimes they even split them up between halves. If it wasn't Tasker talking on the play it was Bernie Kosar the Cleveland local preseason analyst or the play by play guy. Regardless, it was not any kind of difficult read for anyone.

Bills defenders praise Josh Allen.
Kelly the Dog replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That, like Aaron Rodgers, who Hyde played against in practices for a few years, Allen was listening to the defensive calls being made as they were lining up presnap, trying to figure out what they were doing on defense. -
That was Tasker who is always wrong. Just do yourself a favor and look at the play yourself. There are three total receivers to the right and three total defenders. To the left there is the safety and more defenders than receivers. Unless you want to give Peterman credit for being able to count to four, there was no sleuthing going on when he was reading the defense. If you go watch the play and come back here and try to explain why that was some really smart play it will be embarrassing. That was the only play. As soon as Peterman dropped back instantly he saw O'Leary's guy blitzing and O'Leary completely uncovered. It was a high school play. For an eight year old. For an eight year old.

That blurb from Micah also shows that Josh was playing with the ones against the ones today in practice. Not that it is surprising but something we didn't know for sure. -
He didn't recognize and exploit weakness. It was an obvious easy play that every QB dressed in that game would have made. Watch it from the endzone. It was simple. There were three receivers to the right. The lone safety was to the left. He looked immediately right and saw no one covering Nick. It took no recognition whatsoever.

One way is throwing an easy 4 yard pass to a wide open TE that wasn't covered that Gerhard DeBeer could have easily completed and getting credit for a 35 yard TD. Another way is throwing a stupid 3 yard pass to a covered receiver on 3rd and 6 that counts as a completion to your great % but is a lousy decision and play.
