Roster is set, pre-season over, how are you feeling?

We suck at QB, WR, C, OG, OT, and LB until we don't suck. 6-10 unless Allen is pretty good early. -

"Big Name" cuts around the league...

Morning Bo? He had some talent. -
Right. Anyone lower than the third round has some fairly large question mark to their game. Not saying anyone 1-3 doesnt, only that if you are picked in the 4th or 5th round they are just hoping against hope you're going to become a starter. Any random season you look back on the fifth round and there just are not many good players that come out of it. There are what, 80 or so players taken in the 6th and 7th round. All of them have huge question marks. And many if not most are like you described, have one special skill or talent or measurable. But the chances of them being in the league and contributing three years later are very small. And the only reason a lot of them have jobs is because their GM doesn't want to admit he made a mistake.

I just meant how they turn out and whether they get to be eventual decent or even good NFL players. Totally agree that the ones drafted are freakish at one thing or athletic, etc, and drafters take chances on them over guys without the gifts but are just good if not very good football players. I ONLY meant the chance of them becoming good is the same. You're right on the difference you noted.

Sal Carpaccio: Corey Coleman Is In Trouble
Kelly the Dog replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McBeane only likes Boy Scouts. Coleman was more like Juvi cell President. -
We are probably going to punt a good amount this year. I understand valuing special teams but with very few KO going to be returned against the Bills because Hauschka has a good leg, is the second best gunner really going to be that much worse when PR for all teams are rarely more than 10 yards per?
-
Surely true. They obviously think he can learn to track it. Getting separation is probably harder to learn. He may be the only WR on the entire team that gets separation. KB is very good but he doesn't. Kerley used to and he is serviceable but he really doesn't at this stage. Zay is so so although he surely has potential to become a guy who gets it. Holmes doesn't. Ray Ray Ray is a rook. That could be reason alone to keep him. He gets open. He's fast. He has skills.

Foster may still get released when they sign a guy like Tanner Gentry or someone else but if they like him for PS it's a good move. Plus it makes sense they released Coleman. I really hate the way he tracks the ball in the air but they obviously think he can improve on it. Some can and some can't. The kid can fly and he gets open. A lot. I'd rather have him than a bunch of the other players they could have kept.

If you hate the Bills why are you here?
Kelly the Dog replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. But some are more stupider than others. -
McCarron was always going to make it. The Brass still doesn't know what it has in Peterman in a regular season game with real bullets. If he starts the season and then doesn't tank (unlikely IMO) they can trade AJ for a mid round pick to a team with a injury to their starter or backup. If they start Allen right off the bat they can wait and do the same. If they start Peterout and he tanks they can get rid of Peterout and put him on PS and keep AJ as backup or starter. I think you have to keep him until you know whether Peterman has Trent Edwards Syndrome or not, and if they think Allen is ready to play.

Not a bad point. -
I'm not trying to get in a pissing match at all. It's a legitimate question. He had two total KR last year. He was decent three years ago on Oakland as a returner. But Ray Ray Ray and Murphy, who is well ahead of him on the RB chart showed well in that role. He's never returned a punt in his entire career. He's not the gunner, Holmes is. I don't recall him making plays on ST when I watch and he doesn't record a lot of tackles in the stats. So I'm very serious, what is it that he actually does on ST that makes not only a roster spot but a game day 46 spot because you're surely not going to keep him just for ST and then not dress him. He does have good straight away speed.
