  1. Yep. I think he liked McD and his no nonsense act and plan so much that he hired Botterill, thinking he got the hockey version of McDermott.
  2. I just explained why. You get last year against the Chargers and Jax. Those passes that are completions in practice and preseason are INTs in real games.
  3. You probably heard it was “Some gringo’s grandson.”
  4. I hope he proves me wrong. I have been on record here saying that certain players, such as Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, Kellen Moore, Colt McCoy and others will never be good starters in this league, CAN never be good, because they lack the arm strength to play against starters in real games. And it’s my opinion Nate is one of those guys. It’s possible he has just enough and I have not seen it. It’s very infrequent but some guys can improve. Most can’t. IF that is the case, and I fear it is not I’m positive it is, he cannot succeed over time. Sure he can excel in preseason. Sure he can have a good game or two. But he cannot succeed as a starter without sufficient arm. Many here think he does have it. I don’t. Have seen zero evidence of it I also don’t think he handles a real rush well at all. And I don’t think he throws a good accurate slant pattern. Sucks too. Because there is a lot to like about him. And he’s a great guy and teammate. I just don’t think he can throw and there hasn’t been a guy for 30 years that has been able to win without an arm and the only one who came close, Pennington, was somewhat of an aberration.
  5. There is a good chance they line Nate up wide and put Allen behind center, then direct snap to Shady in the backfield or Ray Ray on a jet sweep. Then put in Nate the rest of the game. Just so we can argue for the next six years whether Peterman or Allen really won the starting job.
  6. I agree with all of that. I think last year they overachieved which is great. And next year is the first year I expect them to win. And I like both McD and Beane. But that doesn’t negate any of the five points I made. Nor does it prove they know anything about offense yet (I’m saying they haven’t shown it not that I’m convinced they can’t). Nor does it really say anything about Nate. You asked a question about him and why I thought they would start him, and I gave you a detailed answer to it.
  7. 1. Same reason McDermott allowed himself to be talked into starting Nate against the Chargers. He looks good in practice and preseason. Same reason Gailey started Trent Edwards for three games and then cut him. He looks good in practice and preseason. They bet he can do it when they should know they can’t. 2. McD loves Peterman as a guy and worker and example to his teammates. Loved how he came back from last year and played well in preseason. And preaches to his team about anyone that does all the right things can win the job. 3. If the line stinks and our QBs are getting killed it’s much much easier to go from Nate to Josh then Josh to Nate. 4. We won last year by playing good defense and controlling the ball in close scoring games. He’s gambling (hope against hope) that Nate is going to be smart enough to complete these short passes and not be a turnover machine, as opposed to wild eyed big armed rook throwing it all over the field. 5. He’s just not that smart on offense. Pretty much everyone regressed last year. He hired a terrible OC and OL coach. Didn’t get new players this year to fill glaring holes.
  8. A screen pass to Shady might be a way to avoid a sack or out pattern, cool down the rush and nervousness and adrenaline.
  9. Yep. Clay was wide open. He was throwing on the run, to a tight end who is not fast, but it was ten yards too short. Two of his three bombs to Foster in game one were perfect throws. One pretty long one to KB in Cinci game was dropped.
  10. Terrible throw 40 yards downfield and surely should have been an Int but nowhere near a automatic pick six play. 10 of 11 Bills were between him and the goal line from the 40 yard line.
  11. Name one pass he has ever gunned or proves he has an arm anywhere near Dalton.
  12. I thought his grandmother played lacrosse at Yale.
  13. He doesn’t throw a near easy int let alone a pick six type 30 seconds in. Anywhere around there.
  14. Not when the safety comes over and calls a fair catch on the lob.
  15. Cover it with 50 on the half and 50 on the first pass. I hate the guy and think he won't throw an INT on first pass and will start the second half barring injury. You make 25 or so and still have the SB bet.
  16. Ha. It's only 12 to 1 odds Peterman doesn't start second half. That cracks me up. 10 to 1 his first pass is INT.
  17. They should call that on first down. With supermax protect. Away from any safety.
  18. That would be good. I wonder if St. Doug waddles when he runs away.
  19. One rarely calls balls towards the middle of the field like that, unless I am mistaking the play you are referring to, as dropped pick sixes unless the guy is on the dead run going the other way and it is glaringly obvious. Sideline passes that are jumped are.
  20. Josh's throws are like catching a fly for a DB. Nate's are like catching an intentional walk in a slow pitch softball league.
  21. Yup. I may actually pay to see Skeletor v Greggo.
  22. Ditzy Fitzy has proven he can play in this league and has a significantly stronger arm than Nate. Not a strong one mind you, but he can get the ball down the field if he winds up. He's proven that.
  23. Yup. Last year they had obvious veterans like Eric Wood and Tyrod who were captains along with obvious veteran D players like Kyle and Lorax. Just Hauschka was the lone ST guy. They also made up the veterans council idea if I'm not mistaken. This year outside of Shady, who is somewhat questionable as a captain even though I love the guy, I imagine he just wants more veteran plays who have been here a couple years to be captains. Dimarco has to be by default. Although he is a good leader by example.
  24. They should have him in on all of Nate's pass plays.
  25. Well he made a spectacular diving catch against Gilmore.
