Fair enough. That is a legitimate POV. I think Josh should play right now for about five separate reasons. 1. IMO, Peterman is a disaster waiting to happen. No need to rehash. Others disagree and that is fine and they may be right. 2. Our OL stinks right now and Peterman is likely to get killed behind it a lot more than bigger, more mobile, faster Josh who spent his entire college career used to jailbreaks, and Peterman is not good under a heavy rush. 3. What we discussed above. I don't think Josh will play well right away, but do think the earlier he plays, the quicker we get to him being good or great. There is no apprenticeship for starting QB in regular season NFL games. 4. We can only use half of our offense and half of the field with Nate, and the entire field with Josh. 5. Perhaps most importantly, the run game. The Ravens are going to line up 8-9 in the box all game long and take Shady and our run game out of the game, and dare Nate to beat them over the top. I'm skeptical that he can for several reasons, not all of which are his doing. If Josh is in, they MUST respect his cannon and they cannot just crowd the line and stop the run like that.

So in other words, not what you expect?

I agree with all or mostly all of that. There are good and bad things about both schools of thought, and both ways have both failed and succeeded with other QBs. No one on earth knows if it is smarter or not to let Josh sit for awhile. My only point is that in my opinion, the amount that he learns on the actual field if he plays right now, because it is the real thing, is better for him in the short, mid, and long term, UNLESS it is a confidence killer, which I truly don't think it will or would ever be because he's a strong willed, smart kid, who is used to not only being chased on 90% of pass plays but physical and mental abuse.

Five minutes into game one he will want one turnover all year.

I didn't see the need to start a whole new thread on this, but of course, the Patriots did it again. They signed a guy they don't need right off the team they are playing this sunday. Patriots signed TE Stephen Anderson to the practice squad. Wouldn't you know it, the Patriots are about to play Anderson's former team Houston. A 2016 UDFA, Anderson had some 2017 fantasy relevance for the Texans' banged up tight end group, catching 25 passes for 342 yards. That's not true at all. Flight Simulators are almost exactly like flying. You have to react in real time to real life situations, replicating the real thing. Being on the sidelines of a game or working scout team is NOTHING like that.

I said this at other times in other ways but I think it warrants repeating. Josh was criticized in college for being inaccurate. But there are at least three different types of inaccuracy. 1] Guys that just do not have the touch to throw consistently accurate. 2] Guys that have crappy mechanics that causes them to be inaccurate too often. 3] Guys with good mechanics whose mechanics break down too often which causes those passes to be inaccurate. The first two are a lot harder to fix than the third. Josh has pretty good if not very good mechanics, even counting the Jordan Palmer feet too far apart observation. Because of the rush, and lack of talent around him, Josh (his mistake) let his mechanics break down too often when he tried to force too many throws or rely on his arm to get him out of trouble. But that is not really an inaccurate passer problem, it's a decision problem, and he already looks way, way better at it in the three games he has played. It's completely learnable and coachable. He's not an inaccurate passer at all.

No. You go back and read. I was responding to what you said, which was simply the fact that these two players play the same position makes it a worthwhile discussion, which IMO is nonsense, so I gave a ridiculous comparison between two players as an example of why.

So you actually think that there are valid discussions to be had comparing the merits of Khalil Mack to Aaron Maybin, who does what better or worse at various elements of the position, because this is a valid comparison that deserves the time, energy and thought that needs to go into such a discussion?

Maybe he thinks Allen will someday have a bust in Canton. The way he denies crap you know it's more like projection.

I'll be surprised if Kyle plays but he is not human, and it would be great.

Not I agree with many of them but that is the kind of stuff I was hoping for.

Those are some interesting stats and predictions. Not a bad effort. Of course everyone is going to have wildly different numbers in some places but it seemed somewhat like he knew the team versus a lot of other national guys.

I think we are 6-10 as well unless Josh lights it up. I was hoping for more specific examples of stuff you predict we will see from players or units though for this thread. There are other record and game prediction threads.

That's exactly how I was. Hated it initially. But soon came to embrace it, mostly because of what he has done since, how he has acted, a deeper dive into his play and his past, and what he did in the three games. I'm all in now.
