NFL Kickoff/TNF: Falcons at Eagles

Bills fans would be calling for Foles to be benched already. -

I don't hate going for it there but that is a pretty weak play call. Bunch everyone at the LOS, take out your WR, force them to play 11 in the box and then just run off tackle. Ugh. -

LOL. I was thinking I wish Nate could throw that easy pass. -
What I haven’t seen from Peterman
Kelly the Dog replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. That's the whole thing. It's either not enough or just enough. If it's just enough he can be a decent player. I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully Sunday I will. That pass to Reilly was the second best pass he ever threw as a Bill. Really good. The best was last preseason when he threw a perfect pass over defenders about 20 yards downfield right at the sidelines, maybe also to Reilly. Great, great pass. But it wasn't any arm strength indicator. Agreed. And he's cooked already. He shouldn't even be playing. -

Maybe not. But Chan cut Trent as soon as he knew he couldn't play in the regular season. Three games in. I don't think he is going to throw two picks early either. A very small chance. But he might. And if it's a pick six because he can't throw an out pattern, he's done. So there is pressure. -

No, he won't. If he throws two picks EARLY because he cannot throw an out pattern he is done. For good. He is not like other backups. I don't think they are not going to give him another chance if that happens. If he throws two in the whole game, sure. he will likely play the whole game and start the next one (although he shouldn't). If he throws two picks in the first three series he probably gets Savaged. -

I hope Nate crushes it. If praying actually worked, I would pray that Nate crushes it. I very, very, very much hope he crushes it. I fear he is going to get crushed. -

In some ways, it is better that he is playing on the road. If this game was at New Era, boos for him and booze for us could come very early. -

If he throws two INTS early, his career is over. I do truly understand what you are saying. But as soon as he plays bad he goes to the bench and never gets off it. You as a fan may think that he's just going back to where he should be or always was going to be. But he doesn't think that. He probably still thinks he is going to be Tom Brady. As soon as he throws that first INT, especially if it's early, an enormous avalanche of pressure comes on him. -
Spending big money on a non-qb
Kelly the Dog replied to lookylookyherecomescookie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Rams are a crappy example to use. I watched every game of theirs last year. They may be the only team in the league that can afford to do that. I rarely use this term but Sean McVay is a freakin' genius coaching offense. Goff ran it well but Tyrod could have ran it well. Even if you hate Tyrod. Anyone with any smarts at all could have made the plays that Goff was asked to make. He's easily replaceable on that team simply because of McVay. "Dude's a witch." -

Disagree, WEO. Peterman owes his career to McD. There is a lot of pressure on Nate to perform. He desperately does not want to be known as the only player in NFL history whose HC had to stand up and apologize to the team for playing him, TWICE! -

Trent could throw a pretty good quick 12-15 yard out. Nate can't. -

The real problem is that 99 out of 100 high school coaches anywhere in this country know to do that. Our only hope is the Ravens overthink it and say to themselves, "They'll never think we're going to lay off them, that would be retarded, let's do it and fool 'em!!" -

Every qb in the NFL, including all of the PS and all of the weak armed ones like Matt Barkley can throw the ball 55 yards in the air. Every one. That does nothing to dispel weak arm worries. -

Zips is probably a good description. The Reilly pass was a great pass and the one that made me think he possibly has enough zip on them. I wasn't convinced though. Just my opinion. If he shows that he can throw a wee bit harder than that, 20 yards downfield, I will completely change my opinion of him. I just haven't seen it yet. That was a great pass because it was very accurate and as you said between a few guys, and almost twenty yards. I personally just didn't see that it was enough of a dart to make defenders lay off jumping him all day long. -

The TD pass to Streater than was called back was almost 30 yards in the air IIRC but it was just a lob and I could throw a pass like that. It showed nothing whatsoever about his arm strength, or ability to get downfield either way. It may or may not have been a completion without the glaring pushoff by Streater. Totally agree. The only other way we can really score some points is if Daboll designs and calls some clever plays and short passes to Shady, Murphy, Ray Ray, Croom or Thomas, with the Ravens crowding the box, we execute them, and they somehow break tackles and/or break free and have an open field ahead of them because the Ravens were so bunched up. -

It was 18 yards in the air with no one really near Benjamin. Good pass, right on the money, but not long and not difficult. -
It would be false, and completely different, my friend. Unless you are in the middle of the pocket, and see what only you can see with your helmet on in real time while thinking of where all receivers are, and simultaneously reading the defense, and simultaneously looking where the defenders are and will be where you are thinking of throwing it, ALL while Terrell Suggs is drooling to tear your head off and puncture your spleen 1-2 yards away from you and coming fast, you have little idea what it is like, regardless of your college or preseason or practice or classroom career.

I have never seen him be a complete NFL starting quarterback. Something you can easily do in a 21 point loss. It just means showing all of the essential qualities. So far, he either doesn't possess them all, or he has been playing possum for 24 straight years.
