While that may be true, you do one of two things, you build off that and not totally rebuild, or you don't worry about that in year one you just tear it down and go for a three year plan. To me, they are screweing themselves on a three year plan. If they tore it all down last year, suffered the lean year, built upon it this year, and then by the third year they would be in the second year of the rebuild and not the first, that would make sense. You don't tear it all down in the second year, especially if you overachieved in the first. It doesn't make much sense. Right now we are behind where we were last year. If you tore it all down then we would be slightly ahead.

McD took over defensive play calling in 2nd half
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We want McD calling plays on defense if only to take him away from thinking too much on the offense. He's a conservative guy. He needs to let Josh be Josh and wing it all over, risk some turnovers but score some points. -
Plus the fact that while Josh will miss open guys he will also just gun the ball right on the money at times, which is the kind of pass that allows for breakaways on slants.

Zay really wanted to drop the bomb, the defense just wouldn't let him.

You are not watching the games if you don't think Allen will throw into tight windows. He does it all the time. He did it on the TD especially. He did it a bunch of times in preseason. He tried to several times today. That's absurd.

Fitzy reminds me of the rock star character Lew Ashby in Californication played by Callum Rennie.

Twice the left tackle moved early and Hughes moved early because of it. Once they didn't call it at all, once they called the penalty on Hughes when it wasn't even close that the LT moved early. Both times were blatant.

Totally untrue. Rookies have all kinds of things on their mind until the game slows down for them. A lot of quarterbacks don't get comfortable or start to throw that kind of thing for a couple years. When ou are not worried about calling the play or knowing the scheme or reading the defense presnap or seeing something for the first time in your life or knowing where all of your WRs are going to be on any given play because you have played with them for a year or two or three it's 10x easier to throw with anticipation.

How did the officials not all blow their whistles as soon as his helmet came off and he started running? The officials were abysmal in this game. Not at all a reason we lost but they were terrible.

I love that he is fearless. He didn't have happy feet. Sue he held the ball too long but he's also huge and not likely to get hurt on a hit like a normal QB. He needs to recognize defenses and blitzes and hot reads more. That's a given. But we can get a first down or score from anywhere on the field with him. He has no help. I'm excited.

How can you not root for this guy. He's awesome. Best backup in the league and better than a bunch of starters. And right up there with the top guys and teammates in the league.

Fitz has a much stronger arm than Peterman. It's not even close.

People love to criticize when he holds the ball too long, including myself, but love all the good plays when he holds it just as long. I think maybe we just have to look at him differently than other guys. Kind of like Shady who averages a nice YPC but it's 5.0 on a -1, 3, and 13 yard run. Josh can just gun the ball anywhere on the field. 3rd and 9 is the same as 3rd and 16. You can't say that about very many other guys. When the game slows down for him he could be very good even if he misses on passes he should hit. He picks up huge chucks of yards.

Another thing about him very few QBs have is maybe we have to be okay with him holding the ball seeminly too long. I thought there were several plays he did, even ones when he didn't get hitbnad finally threw. But 3rd and 16 isn't much different from 3rd and 10 with him. There aren't many guys like that. Throwing 16 yards is nothing. Anything can happen on any play. When you are a conservative coach that must drive you nuts. But it would be dumb to neuter him. And Zay wanted to drop it the defense just wouldn't let him.

Josh is the kind of player, now at least, that if you are looking to like him you can easily find a lot of stuff, if you are looking to criticize, you can easily find a lot of stuff. I find it hard to believe that anyone without a preconceived idea of him would find this game a big disappointment. He has no help. He did a bunch bad, a bunch good, a bunch questionable.
