Is Nate Peteman the worst QB in NFL history?
Kelly the Dog replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's really bad. It would have been bad last year after the Charger game. But they did it again this year and we saw the results in game one. It was obvious to a lot of people. The fact they waited a month to get a veteran in here is really troubling. -

Cool. That's a good response. But again it's missing the point. He didn't win the QB competition to me and others. At all. He maybe would have if we saw that he could could what we were convinced he couldn't do. And those things prevented him from EVER being good. So I don't understand why Bills fans, people here, and Bills coaches could not see that. Most of the long time or best posters here never jumped on that bandwagon. It had nothing whatsoever to do with potential. We were sure that he had ZERO potential unless he showed what he had never ever showed. So to me and others he never clearly won the job. To me, Josh Allen clearly won the job. And I and others said it before the first game. He shouldn't be in the league. -
It's had to imagine a four yard pass could be so bad.

My point was Nate didn't show at all he had potential. He did what we already knew he could do. And he did it well. So what. We needed to see that he could do the things we didn't think he could do and he didn't. Fans were bamboozled by stats. He NEVER did a thing that showed he had a good arm or could make all the throws. And I said here during OTAs that my biggest fear was that Peterman was going to look good in practice and preseason and McDermott was going to be fooled. And that's exactly what happened. It was obvious. -
I'm not really happy with Daboll for a lot of reasons. But you're right. He doesn't have much to work with and it's only six games. There is a lot to question though.

Not sure what more you want out of a long pass that hits the WR in two hands and he catches it. You're tough.

No. He didn't. He did everything we knew he could already do very well, and didn't do what he was suspect of. He didn't show he could throw a deep out. He didn't show he could throw downfield. He didn't show he could throw a consistent good slant, all of his issues that kill him. Allen in preseason showed he could throw short, medium and long, left, right and down the middle, could run and throw on the run left and right. He showed WAY more skills than Nate did. Nate showed he could do what Nate does. A bunch of us saw this and pointed it out before the first game. -
Of course. But on two separate plays, Allen threw it down the field 30-40 yards right on the money and the WR caught it.

That was a great play and pass. Period.

He said passes I thought. He threw three deep to Benjamin, one thrown away on purpose, one great pass caught, one great pass caught and called back. He threw a ball on third and long to Zay that was dropped. One of the dart completions to Clay was longer than five yards.

He wasn't awful early. Marv had a policy of not playing (and hating) rookies at that time because he thought they made mistakes. Nothing to do with Moulds it was all rookies. He wasn't playing a lot because Marv wouldn't play him more than he was bad or may have been a bust. So his stats suffered. We also signed a FA WR Quinn Early, who immediately was awful, and Marv still wouldn't play Moulds because he was a rookie. If levy didn't have that ridiculous prejudice, which other but not most coaches had, Moulds would have played a lot more in his first two years and produced more and people wouldn't think that.

That's a blatant lie.

It's kind of amazing that after one of if not the worst games in history, he plays opening day one of the worst halves in history (no first downs) and then comes back the next time to throw one of the worst passes in history. It was really that bad. Stared him down. Threw it weak. A four yard pass was intercepted on the run for a pick six late in a tie game. Hard to think of a worse one.

You forgot the drop that would have been a first down. Zay is playing better. Not well but better. Let's hope it continues. It's still not good. The TD was a nice double move and he caught it clean. To show you how bad he is, everyone of the ten people close to me were worried that when they showed the replay he might have bobbled it.

Being at the game you thought they benched him right after his best throw of the game, a long completion?

There were two Texans ahead of Benjamin on a deep ball. That was smart.
