Matt Barkley extended for two years
Kelly the Dog replied to jletha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1.5 m a year for a 5 year vet QB is extremely low. There is no getting around that. It's a great deal for the Bills if they want him, and a great deal for Barkley because 1.5m versus not being in the league is great. But if you can get away with paying a veteran QB 3m for 2 years he is not very well thought of on the open market at all. -

Stephon Gilmore - first team AP All-Pro

Whaddya talking about?! He's one of the best club-players of all-time, including JPP! And Tom Dempsey's hero! -

And the draft day thing was a total myth. He was not pissed about the Bills at all, he was being reflective of getting here to being a top ten pick after working his whole life for it, and is a quiet guy a lot of the time when he is not on the field. -

The tackling issue, especially when he was here was a bunch of hooey, in at least one major respect. A huge portion of posters here would call him a *****, or not wanting to get hurt when he was tackling. If THAT was the case, you would NOT drive your shoulder into the ballcarrier or receiver, which is what he did a lot of the times when he missed tackles. He did miss far too many but it was because of technique, not wrapping a guy up, and trying to bulldoze him over that was his problem. Not being scared of tackling or contact. Tackling like he did was the way to get hurt not avoid getting hurt. -

Agreed. Absolutely love Tre. But that has nothing to do with abilities at corner, nor should it have anything to do with liking someone’s play or not liking it. Fans in general often like a player’s play based on things with zero to do with the actual playing. -

And virtually everyone here thinks Tre is great, which is why the Gilmore criticism was insane. -

The badmouthing of Gilmore when he was on the Bills was insane. He’s always been a very good and often great corner. Yes, he got too many penalties but many of them were unwarranted.- 261 replies

I agree that the Redskins trade is suspect but I for one would love this off season overall. Well done. We have over 10 serious needs. You addressed most with viable or reasonable solutions.

That group of receivers with Harry would likely be excellent unless he takes a lot of time to start to excel. He’s very good and NFL ready. Adding Humphries and Conley to Foster and Zay and McKenzie would be in nice group in one year.

I don’t think any of us know the true affect good or bad, that Culley had. Josh’s improvements were clearly in second half of season after his return from injury. Josh’s improvements directly corresponded to the additions of Anderson and Barkley midway through season and Bills rewarded both with extensions more for that than play (even with Barkley’s great game). Josh’s improvements directly corresponded with lowering and later releasing Benjamin and Holmes combined with ascending Foster and McKenzie and later Zay. I dont see Culley much in there. But again we don’t know. Josh talks highly about virtually everyone except himself.

I think any discussion of the Patriots, and Daboll, is 100% moot because of Brady. It's not that they don't want a #1 WR it's that they don't need one. He's the only QB that applies to, including the guys like Rodgers who are as good as him. Daboll would never IMO think the Bills or any other team could use the same strategy as the Patriots with Brady. As soon as Brady is gone they will immediately need and look for a #1 WR

Bills fire ST Coach Danny Crossman
Kelly the Dog replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We don't really know that. A lot of times a position coach is deciding on who is playing and who isn't when you think it would be the head coach or coordinator. Obviously those two have veto power, for example, it is often the position coach and not the DC who will send in the DL on a given play or series. So Crossman could have been the one who made that decision that he could play, or should play. Plus Hauschka probably said that he could play and kick. And as a quality veteran kicker all coaches would at least listen strongly to him. I thought it was obvious that he was hurt, but I also think that he was trying to baby both of those 40 yarders he missed just short and misjudged how much strength he had in his leg. He could have made both with a little more oomph in the actual kick rather than he couldn't go more than 42. I think he misjudged them because they are so routine when he is healthy. -
Remembering Bflo Bill Cody

I'm not sure this is a bad thing. We could have used him to put down a few of our overweight, untamed, reckless animals over the years. -
This past week every one of the top ten shows were football related, between NFL, NFL pregame, and NCAA Bowl games.

Is Robbie Anderson worth a second rounder.
Kelly the Dog replied to formerlyofCtown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trade down from 9 to get two mid to low firsts, take a WR and a OL in the first along with signing Tate and you have a potential #1 WR, Tate, Foster and Zay, which would be a big upgrade. -
Bills fire WR Coach Terry Robiskie
Kelly the Dog replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. The only WR coach they have left is the QB coach, and Josh seemed to take a huge leap, as well as heap huge praise, on Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley, whom the Bills gave extensions to. That doesn't say much for Culley. -
Bills fire OL Coach Juan Castillo
Kelly the Dog replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills had terrible talent as a whole along the offensive line (at least with Glenn injured), and Kromer got the very best out of what he had to work with. Castillo came in and immediately changed the scheme and it was a total disaster, which lasted two years. He never should have been hired, and if he was, he should not have tried to shove an ill-conceived scheme on inferior players. -

It seems to me that the Jets preferred the other guy to Anderson, with that contract, although obviously it may not be that simple, and they want to keep both of them. But if they only knew they could keep one, they threw the money at Engwshrswteewknmew. -

I like Anderson and think he would be good with Josh. That said, with Foster's emergence and Zay's late push, the Bills may be able to get away with one major acquisition for WR instead of two, and that guy needs to either be or have potential to be a true #1 WR. And that ain't Anderson. We need a true 1 and maybe a decent 4. Anderson is a 2-3. -

Good move albeit two years too late. Should never have been hired in the first place. But an important step in revamping this offense. His replacement will be another important step. They need to kill this hire, because he is going to start from scratch with a lot of new bodies and several different things to put together, both in the run game and pass game. It's a good start though. That's one school of thought. Most theologians would say, however, if there was he would never have been hired. -

You don’t think Fitz is substantially better than Barkley? -

I agree with everything you said, except if you have a rag arm, which very few players ever improve. It’s possible but highly unlikely. -
