    I believe he jumped to avoid accidentally hitting Lock when it would have resulted in a 15 yard penalty and sort of landed on his head as a result. At least that's what I spotted in real time. It was the same play that Butler was shaken up.

    I only cried over the Bills once. I was 10 years old and Joe Ferguson was valiantly playing through a severely sprained ankle and fell just short of rallying the team in the playoffs against Coryell's Chargers. That was too much for me to handle at the time without tears. When the Bills win the Super Bowl I think it's possible time #2 may occur.

    I hear you and hindsight is 20/20. But I think his roster replacement is Bryan Cox Jr or Mike Love so that's only $1M per season or less. Would have saved $7M. Protecting the near term against unknowns (like injuries) vs. planning long term is the constant struggle that Beane has to deal with and I don't mean to presume anyone could know the 'perfect' answer here. It's purely in hindsight it's regrettable that he wasn't cut before the season started. Who knows, maybe there will be an injury in the next few weeks and then Murphy is activated and with fresh legs plays a key role in the Super Bowl run!

    Except that if they had cut him earlier his salary cap space would roll to next year and could likely be the difference between keeping a Milano or Williams vs. losing them to free agency.

    Based on the fivethirtyeight Elo power ratings this is the highest rated Bills team since 2004. The Complete History Of The NFL | FiveThirtyEight However that was the team that at 9-6 lost to the Steelers back-ups at the Ralph to miss the playoffs. I think this team is objectively better than that one.

    Same thing here. Good news: assuming both teams win the division, Steelers back at Buffalo in 2021. More good news: based on the normal schedule rotation, Steelers back in Buffalo again in 2022!

    This may end up being true but the draft is uncertain and it's unclear whether Jefferson would be there, would the Bills pick him, and would Jefferson end up being as good as he has so far. I think the point is just that the Bills determined they were in Win-Now mode and the certainty that they would get a top 5 receiver this year was MUCH higher getting Diggs than seeing who they get in the first round and whether that player works out as hoped (which is rare for a rookie WR).

    No, not really. I don't agree on Cowboys, 49er's and Browns...maybe Browns for Paul Brown. But the symbol of the Bills is actually Buffalo...there is no equivalent for other cities. Also "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo" is a grammatically correct sentence in English. So we've got those two things going for us...which is nice.

    I hear you but not even close to Bennett. He was the final piece of team that went to 4 super bowls and he played at a high level for a decade. Wiliams was a fine player for a few years.

    I just missed the Rockpile for football by a couple of years. Went to quite a few Bisons games there as a kid though. Objectively it was sort of a dump by then but it was also sort of majestic and like a walk back in time. So as a kid, it was awesome.
