Is it just me or do we always let offenses convert 3rd downs on us?

Nobody is waving it off, we do know both INT weren’t on him, and we know how much is on his shoulders because of the D/coaching -

And they still gave up a 3rd and 19, and 2nd and 18, which was responsible for 10 pts… still happened, even in a pretty good outing for them. But I look forward to the D giving up 40 next week, and you blaming Josh for it -

In every big loss it creeps up, I don’t care how often they stop Mac Jones. Minnesota it was laughably bad, Miami scored on 3rd and 22. It gets glossed over in wins, but happened multiple times yesterday too, and asi said, that was one of their better games -

It happens every game, even yesterday, which was one of the D’S better outings. It’s a fraiser thing, has been for years. It’s why I’m highly critical of him -
Neither INT was on him, stop. Dudes got Brown and Beasley out there
-
Exactly, and there's never been a single scheme adjustment made no matter how many failures we've seen
-
Or maybe they do the thing our coaches suck at adjusting, but it's just as likely it's a combo of that, and not treating October like a Super bowl and being in cruise control. Not a new concept really.
-
You're right, it does, just a whole lot more on D. Could we ever do to a good QB what the Jags did that day? No chance in hell, our scheme is too plain, and it's goal isn't to actually dominate like that. It's to sit back and hope the other team screws up
-
Or if this year you give up a 13 Play 86 yard drive to Zach Wilson or 4th and 18 to Minn or 3rd and 22 for a TD in Miami
-
If a supposedly top defense is given 36 points in a playoff game you should win. OR if twice within the regular season, your offense scores 30, and still loses, costing you home field, maybe that's an issue
-
They're are 3 good offenses on that list, 2 near the averages, one above it. Surely you won't come back to me in January and say...I don't know why they couldn't stop Mahomes, they shut down Kenny Pickett
-
Last year was the best example, gave up 17.5 ppg on D, and still managed to give up 33, 34, and 45 in losses to good teams, with good run games notably. And that doesn't include the 42 to KC. And that defense is still the steel freaking curtain compared to this shitshow Also SF only gave up 28 to the falcons, plenty of times Josh would kill for 28 over the last few years
-
KC holds back. Did the same thing last year and ran us over in January
-
They have NEVER held down a good offense, NEVER. Piling up stats against Zach Wilson doesn't make you any good. That's your misconception
-
I've been mocked on this board for this take

Criticism of McD and coaching has reached insanity level…

Allen has had to be other worldy for wins so many times, when he's average the defense and this defensive coach can't help him. The frustration is in the absolute certainty that the D will collapse when the chips are down, and how over the course of several years this has proven unfixable -
Last year was an aberration, a complete paper tiger. 17.5 ppg allowed. But gave up 33, 34, and 41, in losses against good teams. Than 42 against kc. This D gets smoked when it counts, routinely
-
Getting torched for weeks, so many 3rd and longs it’s impossible to count. And it’s not injury related because it’s the same thing every damn year. Defend him now, because they squeaked by Detroit. But when the defense ends this season in January, like every year, just stop I guess
-
And this stuff isn't new, last year was probably the best version of this defense. 299 points allowed in 17 games. 17.5 per. But they still gave up, 41, 34, and 33 respectively. In losses to contending teams. Promptly followed by 42 in the KC loss, I don't need a defense to stop Davis Mills, but players like Mahomes
-
Up 20 maybe... and certainly not all the time, see the blitz rate
-
You have 2 choices, man for a shorter window, or a soft zone and a prayer that these guys can cover extended plays, this defense lacks the flexibility for any middle, which is why good offenses have torched it for years
-
Yesterday if there was no Allen, and we were calling QB powers with Keenum, Dorsey would be crucified. Why do so many give the other coaches a pass, for not altering their defense, at all, ever
