Bills @ Bears 2nd Half Thread
Ol Dirty B replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edit- think I took the wrong view of your post. -
So a mayonnaise drinking wrestling fan is going to insult anothers intelligence? Talk about a lack of self awareness. The price tag isn't any of the raiders concern. Why should they take less because you have to extend an elite player? They would be moronic for taking into consideration what an extension would cost another franchise. It does nothing for them. That's not the issue. The issue is they can't or don't want to pay him. I don't think it's him wanting out of Oakland, it more the business side.

At least we aren't the Cowboys
Ol Dirty B replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had a great rookie year. I just don't think it was sustainable. He had great O line play, a great run game, and in my opinion didn't ask him to do much. I don't think he's much better than Tyrod, if at all. His 23 to 4 season was followed up by 22 to 13. He can prove me wrong, I don't know if he has the ability to make adjustments when defenses decide what they're going to take away from him. Again, I'll say I don't watch the Cowboys a lot. It just always seemed like one side of the field reads and roll outs. He stays within himself, which is good, maybe he has more to his game than I give him credit for. -
McDermott and young qbs
Ol Dirty B replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm more confused why he didn't go for it. Who cares, it's the preseason. The only reasoning I can think of for him not challenging is if he wanted to save timeouts for a 2 minute drill at the end of the half. I'd prefer they just go for it. -
The guy who had a bunch of guns and wanted to cut his dad's head off for research.... You think one more of football is going to fix that mess? The guy already had another year of football lined up, retired, asked to be cut, and unretired. One more year of football isn't what he needs at all. I was one of the ones who thought he was just an ass, but the guy clearly needs medical attention for mental health issues at this point. Not football. And his mental health comes second to your football team? What happens if he kills someone or himself? He's trending in a direction where he might cause harm to others. As a member of society, yea, that concerns me more than the awful play of the o line in preseason games.

Dak. Didn't watch the game, don't really care what he did. He came back to earth last year in my opinion. I don't think he's that good. -
An 18-game season with 16-game player limits?
Ol Dirty B replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly, the MLB does it out of necessity but this isn't baseball. I don't want a bullpen of QBs. I don't want to hear more about the last 10 or 15 guys on the roster. They have saturated the market and watered down the product enough. I know it's awful from a business perspective, but when is enough, enough. Just let the game be. No more teams, no more games, no more playoff teams. Tweaking rules for safety concerns, or for catches and things of that nature, I get. But bigger changes like this, just no more of it. -
Peterman will never live down the 5-pick half . . .
Ol Dirty B replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really think your point on physical limitations is what ultimately hinders him. By all accounts, he's a good guy, hard worker, smart. Yet I just don't think he has the arm. He'll probably hang around the league. -
Showed up at a funeral with a bunch of guns... Sign that man!

I wouldn't want to be in Dallas's shoes either. They already know their young QB sucks. We at least have hope on that front. -

Ol Dirty B replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aren't we here to discuss our opinions? Is someone supposed to change their opinions because you want positive discourse? You say this in a way that you don't even want a debate, you just want praise heaped upon a guy for no reason. I'll give him that he has played well in the pre season, perhaps I'm more shell shocked than him. Every time he drops back I'm bracing for an interception. Especially on the out routes. -

Ol Dirty B replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's not it at all. We just don't think he's good. It does me nothing but good things for him to succeed in a Bills jersey. Some of us have just seen this crap go down over and over again and know better. Start with Flutie, JP, Holcomb, Trent, Fitz, Tuel. These back up qbs aren't coveted for a reason. Remember when everyone wanted Volek? -

Ol Dirty B replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yea, but he's Peyton Manning. Not Nathan Peterman. Also Peyton probably did that in a full game, not a half. He won't live it down, nor should he when it comes to discussing him as a football player. He played I think the worst I've ever seen a qb play. Because he's a Bill I'm supposed to ignore that? -
What areas of the team has Beane actually improved?
Ol Dirty B replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely agree with you. And that's not to say these guys here now won't be successful going forward. So you're criticizing EJ Gaines for be injured, yet mentioning Vontae Davis... Who was also hurt last year and hasn't made the pro bowl I think since Dareus last made the pro bowl. Honestly man, you're assessment made no sense and wasn't consistent. I think he will, but Sal Cappaccio and others are reporting that they think Davis might not even win the starting job. -
They don't want to pay him, and as you said, Gruden is an idiot. I know he's offensive minded, but his most talented player on that roster is Mack. And he can't even be arsed to pick up the phone and call him? That's already fire worthy for me. You have to be able to manage people to do that job. As much as I have criticized McDermott and disagreed with him, and I'm astounded he does it so well. He manages relationships with the players very well. Winning does ease that, but after last August, I thought he would lose the team. Gruden, I'm not even sure what he has to gain by not reaching out to Mack. That relationship is already poisoned. Different positions, but I don't think the OBJ contract helps Oakland's negotiating position at all. You pay elite talent. I know football hates to do it, but you have to pay guys who are special. Not disagreeing with you at all, but we saw how that played out. That secondary has been ass ever since that trade. You don't give up talent like that. But I do agree with what you're saying about how Oakland is viewing it.

I'll apologize in saying that post is condescending and arrogant, I just don't think we'll ever agree. Appreciate your thoughts though, don't agree with your assessment of things, I've dealt with it. But when I see this stuff happen, I think of what they went through. So my perspective is a little different. Not saying those of you who have disagreed with me aren't sympathetic, I just look at things from a different lens. But leaving that at the door, or just forgetting about that. Isn't me, isn't possible. And I'd feel like a scum bag if I did. As much as we disagree, I hope you can at least understand that. And I'll stick by that posters comment was garbage. I'm not backing off that. It makes no sense. -

I honestly find this post condescending and arrogant. I'm really done with this thread now, now I will say you offended me. But whatever, I don't see anything wrong with it on my end. I see this happen and I think of his brothers, parents, family crying at the funeral. So yea, when something like this happens I think of the victim and family. Bills PR has nothing to do with it, and saying unpack it at the door and telling people how to deal with it. -

Lol what are you talking about? The only post I was offended by was another guy who said kids need to realize life isn't call of duty, you only get one or some ****. Only post I was offended by, the rest I'll qualify as stupid. Only reason I took offense to it is because 5 years ago in Rochester a guy pulled some mass shooting ****. Set a fire, then started picking off first responders. I knew a kid, 19 years old, was his night on call and was murdered by some lunatic on Christmas eve. So I'm happy **** like this never touched you, but that joke was terrible. Only thing that offended me in this thread. That kid only wanted to help people and got capped. Those kids wanted to play a game and got murdered, the murdered in these situations never treat life like a video game. Only thing that offended me, your posts just trended stupid. -

Exactly my point. Who sees that and thinks that. Then starts talking about PR. -

Yea it is. And you're doing what people do when they know they are wrong. You've realized it, it's cool. I know admitting being wrong is hard for some people, even to faceless internet people. -

My username is a joke. I didn't know I had to make it a certain way to validate my posts. And you're the one talking about low information people. You're a parody. -

Wasn't this thread created because a stock photo of him exists in a Bills jersey? I feel like I've said multiple times I don't care. I find that completely irrelevant and would have never know until I saw this thread. I've said multiple times I don't care about him in a Bills jersey, but despite saying that, you're going to try to flip that into me caring about that too much? I don't get that one at all. But ok. -

I mean except I never said anything low information about you. You took a post responding to someone else and acted as though it was in response to yours. That bigger man act didn't last long. -
