  1. I want the Bills to succeed, but surely you don't think the Bills pre-season record has anything to do with that? The 0-16 Lions were 4-0 in pre-season! I think management is trying to distract us from the prospect of another 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 no-playoff season of mediocrity.
  2. I think you're right. This is all about getting press and marketing. However, I view this kind of thing to be an attempt to distract fans from the lackluster performance of management. It's similar to when municipal politicians want to talk about human rights issues when they can't manage to get the garbage picked up or keep the roads paved.
  3. When the headline and first sentence of an article talk about diversity, the article is promoting diversity.
  4. If coaching interns don't contribute to the success (or lack thereof) of the team, then why do the Bills even employ them? And why take so much credit for doing so? Isn't football about winning and losing?
  5. Read this article - written by Chris Brown (Bills staff): https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-coaching-intern-callie-brownson-hoping-to-reinforce-female-hiring-trend The very first sentence tells you this was about diversity.
  6. Read the article over at buffalobills.com. If diversity wasn't the goal, it sure gets a lot of mention in the article.
  7. I think she's different because she has different genitalia (at least I'm assuming that is the case). Isn't that why the Bills are crowing about her hiring? Because that makes them so progressive and "woke" to have hired someone who has female genitalia? Let's see how much this so-called diversity that doesn't really look like diversity is really worth. That will be measured in wins and losses, unless you think football is about something else.
  8. Oh, it's a kind of diversity all right, but what is the point being made? That women can coach in the NFL as long as they look like a man? If you have to have male characteristics to coach, is that really diversity?
  9. She definitely wasn't hired for her looks. Was she hired for her genitalia? Will the Bills be better? That's the only question that matters.
  10. The Bills are taking a lot of credit for this on buffalobills.com. - talking about how "successful" this hiring is. This, from the only NFL team never to win 10 games in the last 20 seasons! I don't think they should be talking about any of their hiring being "successful" until they start winning. I love the Bills, but they have been pointedly unsuccessful since the 90's. Show me that the team does better by "diversity based" hiring. If that can't be shown, it's just a marketing ploy, and marketing ploys aren't that interesting to people who watch football for the football. p.s. It's kind of beside the point, but when I saw her on the sidelines I had no idea she was a woman, so I'm not sure what diversity point is being made here.
  11. So far, Allen is a much better runner than I thought he would be and a slightly worse passer/decision maker. I can't start thinking of him as the future until he has at least one above average day throwing the ball.
  12. On the stats posted by the OP, 2018 Cousins is playing better than 2017 Keenum. 10 million dollars better? Who knows, but I'm sure that as you approach the upper end of QB quality the return on your dollar flattens out. I'm also sure that Minnesota didn't believe Cousins stats would be twice as good as Keenum. And, as posted by others, Cousins has an upside I don't think he's hit yet, whereas Keenum had the best season he's ever likely to have in 2017. Cousins is slightly better than Keenum, and at the QB position that translates to 10 mill.
  13. Despite the tire fire that this season has become, I'm still glad we let Tyrod go. If Josh Allen is ever going to be successful, it's as a pocket passer who can get through his route tree. Tyrod had nothing to teach Allen about that (Tyrod couldn't even see receivers over the middle, never mind decide whether to throw to them!). Not sure yet whether Anderson or Barkley can show Allen (on or off the field) how it's done, but at least, at this point, there's a hope of them doing so.
  14. I could see Nate doing quite well in the army. After all, you don't want those grenades landing anywhere near your own guys!
  15. He might throw the ball the furthest on the field, but NOBODY could throw it further out of bounds than EJ Manuel!
  16. Ok. I'm on board with the plan. Step one - win the division!
  17. I just assumed that they told us he is a good guy to throw us off the truth - that he's an interception throwing robot!
  18. Under the NHL contract, a player who doesn't honour a year of rights held by a team doesn't move forward (to free agency, or interest arbitration) until he does. The Alexei Yashin case settled that. I always thought that the NFL contract was more owner friendly. Not so, on this point?
  19. I think had the Jets scored first, it would have been the Bills players who quit. That's what happens on losing teams.
  20. White: Has played well, but it's hard to judge a corner until the opposition has to throw to beat you. We've had very few glimpses of that so far. Jones: "Flashes" means he's inconsistent, at this point. Hard to judge before he's regularly targeted. Dawkins: The best of possibly one of the worst O-lines in the NFL is faint praise. Milano: He's a good value more than he's a great player. Like day old donuts. Allen: Yet to play ONE good regular season game. Still many excuses for that before he can be fairly evaluated. Complete question mark. At this point, my guess is that he'll be a bust. Edmunds: Makes a lot of mistakes on the way to the hole on run plays. Is, however, athletic enough to overcome some of his mistakes. Is he coachable? Phillips: See Milano Johnson: See Milano Teller: Good start against a terrible Jets team. Let's see him against a good team. Last of all, 9 "prospects" in our 3-7 losing lineup isn't really all that impressive. Probably the Jets (who appear to be worse than us) could make the same claim, or better.
  21. Nate completed 31 wonderful passes yesterday. His 3 interceptions were all caused by wide receivers (2 deflections, 3rd one receiver failed to come back for the ball and box out the defender). I think this is just the start of Petermania. Can't wait to see what he can do against the Jets! What's the NFL record for lowest yards per attempt?
  22. There are many players playing poorly for the Bills. Some can't do anything about it, because they don't have the talent/ability to be in the NFL (Peterman). However, Benjamin looks, to me, like a player who could contribute if he was better coached. The only thing wrong with him is that he fails to understand his strengths and weaknesses. He runs his routes like a speed receiver, trying to catch balls based on creating separation from defenders. That's not who he is. He lacks the speed/quickness to create catching opportunities that way. His strengths are size and toughness. He needs to start fronting his defenders and high pointing his catches Essentially, he should be playing basketball out there. I have yet to see him do this in any game. That makes it seem that the problem is coaching.
  23. Bills, because they are trying harder to lose than anyone else.
  24. 42 - 6 Vikings. Sean McDermott resigns at half time when the score is 6-6.
  25. I'm not a fan who needs everyone to be fired just because the Bills lost, and are likely to keep losing. But the team needs to have a relationship of trust with the fans. We can accept that becoming a contender is not some random process, but takes both skill as well as a bit of good fortune. No team's management can fully predict or control the future. But they can be honest about where they are now, and what they are trying to achieve with personnel decisions. If the Bills had told fans that this would be a rebuilding year, fans could decide whether to buy tickets, how much to expect of the team, etc. They might even be able to take some satisfaction in watching the development of certain players. Instead, the party line was that the roster of QBs in camp would not be a step backward from Tyrod, might possibly be better in the short run with a new offensive scheme, and would be definitely better in the long run once Allen was ready to start. It seemed that their approach to playing their QBs in pre-season was designed to prevent showing the fans that: a) McCarron wasn't seriously in the running for the job, b) Peterman still can't compete against NFL starters, c) Allen would not be a competent starter under any scenario (playing or not playing) for some time, and d) the offensive line would make any of them look even worse than they actually are. Was the plan to tank this season, and draft line talent/WR talent in 2019? That would be rational if the assessment was that no QB on the roster would be able to overcome these deficiencies this season. If the plan was to tank, why not try to move Shady? Why not be honest with us? I don't think I can stomach another "We'll have to look at the tape".
