EJ manuel had a big arm during the combine when he was coached up...if you watched him at fla state..or during bills game despite having the ability to put zip on the ball his ball always floated..i still remember Jim kelly being in the booth with tasker etc as a guest and hes watching ej and hes like just rip the ball..cus ej wud float comeback routes cus his mechanics were so robotic
-
While i agree with certain aspects of the article...i dont agree with " hell never be a 60% passer..his low completion percentage in college was more of a system thing. Just watch baker mayfield vs ohio state..literally 70% of his passes were designed for easy completions..option te flat passes.. screens...option pass pitches..allen was asked to throw far more seam and deep comebacks and other throws which are much harder to complete
-
One thing you can immediately see from watching him is that his actually throwing mechanics are solid. His footwork was sloppy like most college qbs but he has a natural throwing motion which is often overlooked... go back and look at Ej manuels college film and you see a guy with an awkward unnatural throwing mechanics who had a high completion percentage due to the offence he was in. Josh has show the ability to make touch throws and obviously the throws that require zip. the offence he was in did not really lend itself to those completion boosting plays that allow players with absolutely no shot at the nfl to complete 65%+ of their passes in college. So the 56% completion number doesnt bother me..the placement on the majority of his throws is good enough. Its interesting to note 56% is exactly the career completion of john elway..during his nfl career just a funny stat

That's only the pats offence due to personnel though..did you forget 2007-09 everything was vertical when they had moss..and it was more vertical when they ran the two te set with Gronk and the murderer Hernandez ...the eardhart-perkins can be anything you want it to be the playbook has everything
-
That's a good thing though..I think you can teach an aggressive qb to be more patient but I've never seen a safe checkdown artist be willing to attempt those more difficult throws
-
Not necessarily..the beauty of the Earnhardt Perkins scheme is its versatility ....I think daboll will run whatever scheme fits our personnel..at Bama last year he called alot of rpos..and alot more vertical shots than McDaniels calls in ne at this time .

Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?
bills11 replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's obvious the bills and all the qb needy teams had issues with Rosen's personality ..perhaps he reminds executives of another smug qb Jay Cutler ..but it also could be a thing like Aaron Rodgers who was Cleary the better prospect the Smith but probably turned people off during the process ..Rodgers is a very smug guy like Rosen than can rub ppl the wrong way..former teammates like driver and Jennings don't hold him in the highest regard -
The fallacy of Allen being the bigger "risk" than Rosen
bills11 replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I can agree with most of your on the field analysis ..your leadership point is not really accurate ..there's different kinds of leaders ..Aaron Rodgers is very smug/ arrogant former teammates have called him out yet his winning speaks for itself. Jameis Winston is ur prototypical rah rah leader of men..that hasn't translated to wins -
20 Year Debate: Carucci in 1998 - Head vs. Arm
bills11 replied to BigBuff423's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That just shows the seperation between the media and actual front office people...the Colts knew Manning was the better qb and people forget Manning before the neck injury had more than enough zip on his throws. The only media member who is kinda clued in to how the NFL front offices work is Mike Mayock. People often mistunderstand his rankings he doesn't rank QBs only on his views on them as a prospect he ranks them based on how people in front offices he talks to view them . Hence why he has Josh Allen so high cus NFL people think he can be coached up . -
Who is your second favorite team?

Eagles since 99 was a huge McNabb and Brian Dawkins fan -
Who had the strongest arm in NFL history?
bills11 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John Elway..the velocity he could get on the football was insane watching him out zip on the ball was something else -
Will the Jets take Allen or Rosen??
bills11 replied to elltrain22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Daboll atleast at Alabama ran alot of rpo plays though. And I wouldn't focus too much on what scheme players ran in college , the prominent offences in the NFL Coryell west coast earndheart Perkins etc all use the same plays they just have different ways of executing them -
Bills Aren't Necessarily Searching for THE Best QB
bills11 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats usually the case to an extent when trading up for quarterbacks..youre trying to determine how far you need to go to acquire a prospect..when the redskins went up to the 2 they did it because they were fine with luck or rg3...im assuming its why the jets are comfortable at 3..because im sure they would love to take darnold but even if hes not there they feel they can get josh allen or mayfield at 3 cus im not sure theyre looking at rosen because of his off the field and political musings -
Wasnt the best game of his career his next start after the concussion vs the Chargers though and ironically the one time he played well vs a 3-4 defence

Josh Allen one of the most overrated QB prospects this decade
bills11 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uhmm Josh Allen is a legitimate first round prospect..he had accuracy issues related to footwork ..his mobility is borderline elite .his arm is all time elite ..and he possesses the intaligibles you look for. Now does that mean he'll be a star ..no but this isn't a ej Manuel situation where he had no business going in the first based on his intangibles -
QB Velocity Numbers for 2018 Draft Released
bills11 replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
theres something off about these qb velocity numbers..like theres abberations or such Peterman has the weakest arm probably in the nfl yet he scored similar to tyrod and stronger then deshaun watson who has show to have more than adequate velocity..and flacco having less velocity then andy dalton is bull **** -
The thing with Allen is when he comes off play action and his feet are set he throws probably the most pure gorgeous spiral since Elway . But when the pocket is chaotic he becomes very tyrodish and bails quickly without going through his reads ..can pocket presence and feel be taught ? I don't know . It's kinda what separates him and Rosen ..Rosen's footwork is far more consistent and he understands the intricacies of pocket play much better. Comparing him to big Ben is interesting because Ben is the only qb I've ever seen excel due to not throwing the ball on time . Such a unique qb it's hard for me to see that in anyone else

pass haven't seen much of rudolph but lamar jackson has the worst footwork ive seen in some time and is passing ability is below tyrods

I'll be first to ask: Would you fire Mike Tomlin?
bills11 replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tomlin should have been fired years ago...hes another version of chuck pagano. He came to the steelers from a defensive background with his scheme being the cover 2 he wisely kept dick lebeau as def coordinator...and since his initial year the defence has been a mess if hes not improving the defence which is supposed to be his side of the ball what is he doing? the steelers have underachieved under him id argue hes one of the worst coaches in the nfl given the talent at his disposal. -
What QB do you want to draft.
bills11 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since we won't have a shot at darnold or Rosen ..the guy I want is josh Allen ..the guy has the physical tools and mechanics..obviously his college numbers aren't the best .but production and stats in college don't always correlate with NFL sucess..it's kinda a feel thing can the qb make accurate throws..can he anticipate does he throw wrs open..if you watched EJ Manuel in college his numbers didn't look all that bad but you could see his unnatural stiff delivery and lack of anticipation . Josh Allen has one of the worst wrs corps in the nation but can make throws no other qb in the draft can
