He predicts Seattle will get Luck at #1 - Bills get 10th pick:

    10. Buffalo Bills — Matt Kalil, OT, USC: With five rookies contributing on defense, the Bills improve from their 2010 defensive funk and show some real promise in 2011. Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the man at quarterback, and in 2012, they go offensive line, snagging Kalil, the 6-6, 298-pound tackle out of USC. Kalil’s brother, Ryan, plays center for the Panthers.

Entertaining read for the true die-hard....

If you think the Bills will pass on Landry Jones, then you are crazy. He will be the best QB of this draft class and I would be estatic if the Bills could draft him next year. No way he goes 15th. He is better than any QB drafted this year. Glad the Bills waited a year (I Hope!!!)

  2. I'm with you on your second point. The talent is pretty evenly distributed through the first few rounds with potential help at the 34th pick. I have been a proponent to trade down when possible, not up. As for your first point, if Dareus and Miller are both gone I would be OK with Peterson. This guy is considered by many to be "the" elite player in this draft. It would be a little high for a cb but historically the results have been very favorable for top 10 cb's. While it doesn't seem to be a huge hole, look at the lost time for McGee the last couple years and the inconsistancy of Mclovin. Florence has been solid but he is also getting gray, as is McGee. It may be time for a change. While many are clammoring for a pass rusher, maybe what we need is better coverage to give the rushers more time to get sacks. It is very much a two way street.

You cannot be serious. The Bills need to build their DL if they are to have any chance of improvong significantly this year and in the future. They need a disruptive Dlineman who the other team needs to account for. That has to be Nick Fairly. I am so sick of reading all of this analysis about QB, DB and even LB. The Bills need to upgrade their DL first and foremost, especially in the Division they are in. I'm not saying Von Miller isn't a good player, but he's not the difference maker Fairley would be. Fairly reminds me of Warren Sapp to a lesser degree. He can play inside or outside and has incredible talent. Just watch tape of him thie year. Dareus is a solid player, but not the difference maker Fairly is. We'll see on Thursday if Nix has any clue or not. If he does not draft DL, not sure where this team is headed. Just remember LAST vs. the run and vs. the pass was not much better. Hard to watch last year.

  3. Fairley's the man.

There has been a lot of discussion around here regarding Fairley's suspicious tumble down the draft boards. Many wonder what he has done since January, when he was widely considered to be the #1 prospect in this draft. I personally love Fairley...he reminds me a great deal of Warren Sapp. His nasty demeanor is something that is desperately needed on this defense. This is a good article that takes a closer look at this situation.

    Enjoy

Totally Agree. We need a big DL with an attitude. Fairley is perfect for us and could play either DT or DE. I pray we draft him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Totally Agree with everything that you have said. We need a big, nasty DLineman who can garner respect from the opposition. We have not had that since Bruce, Talley/Bisquit. I am all about Fairley and want the Bills to draft him immediately!!

  5. SCOUT's NEW BIG BOARD:

    1. Da'Quan Bowers* DE Clemson 97

    2. Nick Fairley DT Auburn 97

    3. Patrick Peterson* CB LSU 97

    4. A.J. Green* WR Georgia 97

    5. Marcell Dareus* DT Alabama 96

    6. Blaine Gabbert* QB Missouri 96

    7. Robert Quinn* DE N. Carolina 96

Fairley. we need a big, nasty guy in the middle of the line which will make Kyle Williams and Poz better players as well as Merriman since more attention will need to be spend on our interior D now. I want Brady and Sanchez to actually be concerned about our defense for a change.... Drafting Fairley will finally get me excited about the Bills future again and I'll buy father and son Fairley jerseys as well....

  6. Move to a 43, trade a 4th for Haynesworth and draft Bowers. Low risk/high reward, IMO. Haynesworth already received the bulk of his money up front and will come cheap. Bowers will be the perfect DE next to AH, KW and Dwan Edwards.

Draft a LBer in the second and re-sign Poz. Our front seven should be pretty stout if we get lucky with a healthy Merriman and a motivated Haynesworth.

Here's what our front seven will look like:

    Bowers, Williams, Haynesworth, and Edwards

    Poz, Moats, and Merriman

Are you out of your mind!!!! Haynesworth!!!!!! He's a cancer that will kill a team. There was one play that I saw where he was too lazy to even get up!!! The Bills NEED to draft Fairly IMMEDIATELY, team him up with Williams, re-sign Poz who will immediately become a better player with those 2 in fromt of him. They still need another LB and DE, but that would be the start towards the decent "D" that we need.

  7. Chuck Knox. He made the most out of what he had and combined a hard hitting defense with a strong running game and also had a good passing game with Joe Ferguson. I feel that Marv Levy was vastly overrated as a head-coach. I was never sure who was really running the team and I feel that he won because of superior talent (possibly 10 players with super bowl possibilities). I think that it showed most when just overall talent could not get him by in the Super Bowls.

  8. I'm actually glad this is being talked about. The Bills organization, not the players (it's not their fault), have put this franchise into this situation. Maybe now, with all the BS that will surround this garbage front office, they will wake up and someone will have some fuggin pride and get this thing going.

I'm glad stuff like this is calling into question some of the crap this front office has created. Now we'll see if the owner really wants this schitt to continue, or he can simply stop it by getting serious about winning some damn games.

Everyone from the owner down to #53 on the roster is being called out. Let's see how they respond. It seems the only thing universally respected about the Bills is their fan base. Us calling them out did no good. Let's see what happens, and who digs down deep, when their colleagues start calling them out. And I'm not talking about getting up off of the canvas this year and winning some games. I'm talking about getting this roster fixed, spending some money, and cutting the deadweight in the front office.

I say bring all of this crap on. YOUR CALL RALPH. Do you like being the laughing stock, or will the Bills have some damn pride and run itself like a real organization?

Sadly, If Wilson didn't do anything after being flicked off by one of his fellow owners after the Tennessee game last year, nothing will motivate him. I think it's hopeless. He either does not care other than to make money, or he is too senile to realize what is going on around him. Man, how far we have fallen...Disgusting.......

  9. HE'S THE TRUTH and HE'S GONNA WIN THE HEISMAN. JUST HOPE HE DON'T BUST LIKE A COUPLE OF OUR FORMER AND CURRENT BUCKEYES ALUM. FORGET LUCK, MALLET OR LOCKER. HE'S LIKE A TIM TEBOW WIT MORE SKILLs AND ALL THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES.

You must be out of your mind. He only has an 8 inch problem (Between his ears!!!!!)

  10. havent seen the game, but going like 19 of 32 for a score with 2 picks against an ND defense isnt very good either.

so i will say luck, as of now, isnt the answer either.

bad day for future bills QBs, huh?

I agree with you. I was flipping back and forth watching both games and rooting for both to succeed. Mallet has a ton of potential and has a rocket for am arm and made some really good throws, but also made some terrible throws to wind up losing the game. Luck looked less physically impressive, but he had a cerebral quality to him and also made some good throws, but also made some bad throws, vs. a suspect Irish "D". Not sure what to make out of all that except that neither to me, at this point, is aclose to a sure thing. I saw go after Cameron Hayward, the DE from Ohio State who looks to be the real deal. He will give us an immediate pass rush

  11. in chan's defense kyle williams played a great game today

WHAT!!!! Are you serious??????????? The Bills were awful vs. the run today and had NO pass rush. Williams is doing the best he can, but he is a marginal NFL player and always will be. Where is Tropue? He can't do any worse. And bring Mpates and Carrington as well

  12. However bad the Bills have looked offensively, defensively or special teams wise; the fact is that they are 0 and 2. Newsflash. The Pack are going places this year especially if the Vikes maintain their struggles. There is not an offense that is better and their defense is very strong. The fish beat the Vikes in Minn and they look strong enough to be a playoff team.

Our team has not looked good on offense and the qb, who looked fine in the preseason and has not had alot of time to throw the ball looked ridiculously uncompetitive during the last drive against the fish and the fourth down out of bounds run. They are making a change and trying to spark something from what they have on the field. I don't see this as a bad thing. It should not matter how talented you are, those two things that Edwards did should have moved him down the depth chart.

Is it Gaileys fault that watching Orakpo, Matthews, the linebacker from the Texans and many others reminds us of the incompetence of specifically Aaron Maybin and the other first round flops? It shouldn't. He wasn't here.

I am disappointed and as sick as anyone and evolving as a fan toward more apathy than anger at this point, but the Bills were not as good at 2 and 0 two years ago as they may have looked and they are not as bad at 0 and 2.

I'm sorry "Logical Reasoning", but there is nothing "LOGICAL" about your post. This team is horrible. They cannot field a competent QB, OL, WR's (other than Evans), TE, Pass Rush and quality LB's. There is also a pervasive losing attitude associated with this team which permeates into their performnce. Even if they are in the game in the fourth quarter, do many people think that they can find a way to win. I don't. This season is already over, almost before it began. Haven't felt this low in quite a while. I admire your optimism, but it is sadly misplaced!!!

  13. Trent's benching is the biggest disappointment I have felt as a Bills fan since the playoff loss to the Titans in 1997 (I refuse to recognise any of the nicknames for this game).

It's not so much that Fitzpatrick is horrible (which in my view he is), it's more that Edwards benching says something more fundamental about where this organisation is. I think, and have said repeatedly, that the front office needs a major overhaul, from top to bottom, to reset the organisation. The entire front office is largely intact over previous years, and look at the horrible decisions that have been made... They need a root and branch rethink of how this organisation does football - clearing out so many of the scouting and personnel department.

It made me so sad today to think of the Bills and for the first time as a Bills fan that I probably don't care what happens on Sunday. OK this has more to do with the fact that I am a new father, but even so, the Bills are a passion of mine, and to be getting it so spectacularly wrong for so long is a major let down.

I looked at the guys on the field this past Sunday and several realisations hit me then - benching Trent again is the final nail in the coffin. Honestly - look up and down the roster and we will not be remembering fondly very many of these players. That makes me sad because the day I got engaged in Ralph Wilson Stadium, in 2001, it was exactly the same story. Keith Ellison = Brandon Spoon. Reggie Torbor = Eddie Newman. Ryan Fitzpatrick = AVP. The list goes on. Every year I am willing to suspend my irritation at a seemingly inept offseason, only for disappointment to come surging back at the point in the season where you just know the playoffs aren't going to happen.

This year - I have reached THAT point at week 3. And Fitzpatrick is the living embodiment of that feeling - and that's why I hate him. So this Sunday, I'll be there, cradling my 4 week old daughter as we both wear our Bills gear and I will watch the game. But I'll be rooting for Brady who starts for my Fantasy team, and I'll flick to other games to see my Fantasy Team play. Because at least if the Fantasy Team loses, that's on me, and my decisions.

When the Bills lose, I'll just be sad.

You sound like me. I was saying the exact things to my son last night. Putting Fitzpatick in, while maybe giving the Bills the best chance to win only solidifies that fact that this team is hopelessly floundering. All the indications were there about this team's shortfalls after last season, and NOTHING was really done about it. It's hopeless and it starts at the top. For me, when Ralph Wilson had no response to Bud Adams flicking him off during last year's Titans game, that spoke volumes for me that he does not care. And if he does not care, why should I put out my emotions for a team in a free-fall with no bottom.. The whole Head Coaching search was another indication of how far this franchise has fallen if the reports were correct about all the top avaliable head coaching candiates passing. I have loved the Bills for 30 years and have lived and died with them, but the past few years I have gradually lost interest and my perspective now is that this team will always be horrible with no hope of salvation until a new owner/organization is brought in. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but that's the reality, like it or not. It hopeless until then.....................................

  14. Having been a Bills fan for 30 years, I have seen it all and after watching yesterday's game and reading numerous opinions and articles this morning, it seems painfully obvious to me that what I have been saying since the end of last season is still relevant, that this team is managed incompetently, there is no pride, there is no consideration for the best fans in the league, and there is a total sense of lethargy which has been running rampant for years. Consider the following:

    - Bud Adams flips off the Bills after the Tennessee game last year (Response from the Bills - NOTHING)

    - The Bills try and go after top notch coaches (Response - Nothing). Bills settle for Chan Gailey

    - No effort is made to significantly upgrade the team through Free Agency (see Cornell Green)

    - Questionable personeel moves all thru the roster:

    - QB- Stay will Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, Ryan Fitzpatrick (argueably the worst QB situation in the league)

  15. I was checking the TV listings earlier in the week and saw that Gus Johnson and Steve Tasker are calling the game. Gus is by the far the most exciting announcer in all of sports right now and he finds a way to make even the most boring of games exciting. Tasker has improved over the years as a color guy and I do think he compliments Gus pretty well. So I am pretty excited this week to have Gus and Tasker calling the game for us. I am so glad CBS calls the AFC games, I cant stand FOX and their boring announcers and cheesy graphics(especially those robot characters between commercials). What are other favorite announcing teams of everyone else out there??

Gus Johnson is awesome. Steve Tasker is awful!

  16. In another thread, I mentioned I would be happy if Tom Brady got injured. I was SHOCKED when many people were upset at this remark, and thought I was way out of line.

Am I really the only one that was happy and was high fiving people when Brady suffered that early season knee injury a couple years ago?

Do you guys not remember when Wilfork threw and intentional forearm shiv into the side of Losman's knee and injured him on purpose?

We couldn't beat the Patriots the year Brady was hurt anyways, but at least we stood a better chance. They are confirmed cheaters on many different fronts, we need any advantage we can get.

If Stroud lays a vicious sack on Brady this year and knocks him out of the game, you better believe I will be cheering my ass off about it! :)

    You're an idiot!!!!!!!!!

  17. I'm glad the preseason is over just so that I don't have to listen to Steve Tasker anymore. The guy was a great player and I respect his contributions as he was maybe my favorite player from the 1990s Bills teams. He might be the worst announcer in LEAGUE HISTORY!

He makes mistakes on down and distance, calls players by the wrong name, his analysis is flat-out incorrect at times, its endless. Travis Brown hasn't played for the Bills in 6 years. Kevin Hardy used to be an outside linebacker in jacksonville, not a wide receiver in Buffalo. At one point tonight, I actually asked my wife if she thinks he's drunk. Darby the Dinosaur isn't any better. How does a former player in the 3-4 defense not know basic terminology of the system? He called Poz the "Mike" middle linebacker in the 3-4 tonight. I thought they were the same! WTF!

Why do they have to get some guy to tell me what I am watching just because he used to play? I would rather be entertained by somebody who knows the basics but can articulate himself and not make mistakes.

Totally agree. I have been saying that for several years now. Your points are well made. I still cannot understand how these announcers don't even prepare for these games. If I did the job they did, I would'nt have one very long.

  18. Great Points. Totally Agree! Hopefully, we will bottom out this year and be in a position to draft a franchise QB in the next draft. This is a QB and passing league and without it, this team will go nowhere (like it has done for the past 10 years). I actually like some of the players that they have brought in, so hopefully this year will be a "bottoming out" period from which we can start to move forward, but if anyone is thinking that any of the 3 QB's is the answer, than I have some land in New Orleans by the levee that I want to sell you......
