Wawrow hints an Internal Issues with the Bills
Da webster guy replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doesnt even have to be an offensive minded HC, just a good game coach with a grasp of time management, how to communicate with your players between plays, manage down and distances properly etc. Sean is a great leader and person, which makes it tempting to overlook his lack of technical competence. But we get outcoached just about every week, win or lose, and especially vs guys like Andy Reid its not even a fair fight for poor Sean. The only way he could maybe stay is a new take-charge DC that runs the entire game, timeouts included on his side of the ball, and delegate the same thing to the OC staff on their side of the ball. It worked for Marv. -
Once again McD's decision to go for it on 4th and 2 instead of kick and extend our lead comes back to cost us the game, as it very nearly did in KC. The other thing that is on McD/Frasier is lack of game coaching their dbacks, most notably Cam Lewis on the 4th and very long completion to Jefferson. "Guys, its 4th down DO NOT CATCH THE BALL and try to get an INT. Swat it down, hit it as hard as you can but in a contested catch situation trying to catch the ball can result in giving up a catch. Duh" Hyde made that mistake once, and today it was Cam Lewis. He could have easily spiked that football instead of trying to outcatch Jefferson. Game would have been over. This is high school stuff. Seriously. Like holding the receivers in the 13 second game. Basic. Yet our guys don't seem to know it and they're not being reminded either. How can this be?

A guy on WGR said it pretty well this morning

13-3 will get us everything we need. we drop one more game along the way no problem. Bengals MNF last game of the year, hopefully we dont need it, would be nice to have a rest week there and a bye week for playoffs -

The Saffold Report - Week 8, Packers v. Bills, 10/30/22
Da webster guy replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
All I can say is I watched him closely vs the Chefs and they're strong inside. He took care of business. -
Stef likes to play pissed off. WR's are a different breed, they're like comedians in the sense that there's the rest of the world and then there's them. They're sensitive, high strung and twitchy dudes with a crazy tough job.

Titans will still roll Houston. Tanny isn't the reason they win games.

Lil' Dummy McKenzie.........offical team character builder
Da webster guy replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
weak post. He's a great spark for the offense, and still will have a decent role despite an off game. Lil Dirty has come through us many times before, just had an off day. Daboll loved him, Allen and Dorsey do too, thats enough for me. -
With the exception of the Chiefs/Niners game, it's a tough break for pro football to have the other three exciting teams all off on the same week. Minny has been fun to watch, and the Eagles/Bills round out the top, but it seems like there's a real void with Packers, Colts, Chargers, Tampa all very blah blah teams to watch. I think the Bills are spoiling us, we get used to a high level of play and excitement and most of these prime time game this year have been crappy football. League should try to build in the flex a little earlier in the season next year so I don't have to watch guys like Russel Wilson embarrass themselves any more.

All-22 Grades for Bills/Chiefs (The Athletic)
Da webster guy replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah I agree. I watched Saffold pretty carefully after he got lit up on this message board the week before, and watching the Chiefs Dline do some damage vs the Raiders, I was worried that the interior wasn't going to be stout enough for Josh to operate and the running game to work. To me the guy seemed to have a really good game, moved well, anchored, got downfield when necessary. Nobody is going to play perfect against Dunlap, Jones and Clark, especially with lots of twists, stunts and blitzes coming at them, but all three interior linemen looked solid to me. -
Most underrated off-season acquisition could be Daquan Jones
Da webster guy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
:Yeah you can include Bryant in there too, he probably won us that Ravens game with his goal line smash that allowed Milano to stop the TD. just Bryant, Jordan and DaQuan you could start a legit interior Dline -
When it comes to playing elite qb's you have to get pressure with 4, and our offensive line didn't allow the Chiefs to do much at all with their pass rush. My biggest takeaway is that Saffold Bates Morse Dawk and Brown/Quess did one heckuva job on Jones and Clark yesterday and it was the difference in the game because they had to respect the run game and were forced to blitz Josh, which resulted in Gabe and Diggs TD's. Oline deserves a game ball.

Daboll was a good OC, when he gets a few years under his belt as a HC then we'll see how he is at the top. He seems to have the right personality for it, and is off to a great start. although the Bears, Panthers and Packers aren't exactly tough outs these days. Josh is still ripping it up with Dorsey, and will likely continue that with whoever they put in as OC.
-
Finally someone making sense. Josh isnt complaining about his targets not getting separation and catching the ball, if he has any issue right now its interior line play. Von was pushing OBJ because they are buddies but that was before he saw our kickass offense rolling people. Give me an upgrade at guard please, protect our QB and boost the running game a little. Thats where the smart money goes.

I remember when our owner was a cheapskate and our GM's were mediocre at best. Now we have a great owner and a top GM, plus an elite qb locked for 10 years.

Secondary market tickets: Ticketmaster the only option?
Da webster guy replied to JCBoston's topic in The Stadium Wall
I bought two tix for Steelers game on craigslist, no ripoff ticketmaster price gouging fees. Just make sure you use paypal goods and services to send your money NOT the normal friends/family where you just send someone you know money. Paypal wont protect you otherwise. What you do is have the seller send you a simple invoice via paypal, it takes less than a minute, then you just pay it and the seller transfers your tix. If the seller wont do the invoice via paypal they're likely a scammer. FYI I would say about a quarter of the tickets being sold by individuals for Sundays game were scammers. Be sure to speak with them over the phone and look out for the cheap priced ones in prime locations. p.s. ticketmaster charges ridiculous fees, its unethical and predatory pricing. Try to avoid them whenever possible. -
Can't judge interior linemen on single plays like that. Blocking assignments can be complex and we aren't privy to what was called there. The real test is coming this sunday in KC. If Chiefs Dline can get push up the middle it ends up being a tough go for Josh because he starts to bail out earlier as the game goes on, and when that happens he starts taking more shots. I like Dorsey over Daboll because I feel like he's more sensitive to Josh's well being with the calls after we have a decent lead. Gonna need to have a big day from the boys in the trenches, we'll see what we're made of....

Congratulations to the Miami Dolphins

yeah thats exactly the vibe I got down in Miami a few weeks ago. Fins fans were salty and really have an inferiority complex, blame the league for everything, disgruntled. -
A few observations after the Stillers game
Da webster guy replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Morris had a handful of highlight catches in training camp just like his grab today. I was praying they wld let Howard walk and keep #85 and it looks like they made the right call. Not sure how he grades out as a blocker but separation and hands he is very solid. -
good point. On another note its been interesting to see how Von plays, he has far better gap control than a lot of the edge guys in the league. It sometimes looks like he's taking a play off but on the rewatch he's sealing off the backside of the play and sliding it towards the heart of the defense. Very cool to watch this guy operate, and lead what has become an elite front 7.
-
The general approach is to watch the body of the player being held and how they're impacted by it. Its clear that there is a clutch and grab element to most blocks nowadays, usually shoulder pads/jersey being where the offender holds. That usually gets ignored unless it results in turning, twisting or slowing down a player significantly. It seemed to me that The Ravens strategy on the offensive line yesterday was to hold everyone until they start flagging it, which took the refs almost a quarter to do.

My son and I are going to the game in Miami, wondering what the BillsMafia does pre or post game down there. Is there any kind of tailgate scene? Do Bills backers have a preferred lot?

And that there is no Easter Bunny, which I'm really not still coming to grips with fully almost 5 decades later.
