Blake Bortles - catcher of bad guys
Da webster guy replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good analogy. Skulls and spines baby. I admit I still have trouble with putting any blame on our defense that day, going on the road in a playoff game and holding Fournette and some good receivers to embarrassingly low yardage and point totals. I mean geez we can't score 11 points for the win? Jags defense is overrated. Niners and Steelers shredded em for 40+ at the end of the season. They rank in the bottom half of the league in stopping the run, Fournette's a beast but never even broke the 4 ypc mark last year and barely broke 1000 yards. Lost some good receivers too. If you want a solid bet, take em for for the season under 9.5 wins (they had ten last year). If Calais Campbell gets hurt they're even more screwed, and he's getting to be an old timer. Hackett/Bortles/Dareus = 7 wins this year. -
2018 Season Record Predictions
Da webster guy replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Murphy can regain form off the edge, and Edmunds learns quickly, we can have a nasty defense this year. Our run stopping and dbacks are very good already. Its just a huge question mark at qb and Oline so its nearly impossible to predict how we will move the ball. Ten wins would be awesome. -
Aside from the obvious few, as of late I really liked Karlos a few years ago, he had some flashes of brilliance. Would have been a great tandem with a guy like Shady. And he had decent hands. Poor kid he just never had the brain. C.J. was really fun too, when he was having an ON game. He won us a few singlehandedly for sure. Had some drinks with him at the Sand Bar in Canandaigua he was such a nice dude.

Still remember my first training camp watching Moulds play. I was against the fence and he caught a few in front of me. He looked ten feet tall out there and was in such good shape. Ripping the ball away from guys, one handers, short routes, go routes. What a player. The Bledsoe Peerless Moulds big year was a fun offense to watch for sure.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition
Da webster guy replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously he's least likely. But I'm predicting he'll have a better camp than McCarron and Allen won't get thrown to the wolves until we see our O-line perform in a real game. McD threw a rookie to the wolves last year on probably our worst day in pass protection of the year. I think he'll be hesitant to do so again, especially considering the likelihood of very little (if any) chemistry or experience with the guy playing next to you on the offensive line. Week 9 for Allen. Don't rush the kid. -

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition
Da webster guy replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on how well the O-line is playing I think. If they're holding their own, and Shady is rolling along, you might see him sooner than you think. I see week 9 at home against the Bears as Allens first start. I actually think at the end of training camp the qb rankings will be Allen, Peterman, then McCarron. If Allen doesn't start the opener, I think it will be Peterman. . -
Marv didn't play Moulds much his first season. Was a big believer in sitting rooks. I remember he ran a kickoff back for a TD
-
He didn't get as much separation as I had hoped he would last year, but he's a smart player, scored some TD's had some nice body control on the sideline throws. I think he improves as a blocker for sure, with that shoulder back to 100%. Zay seemed like the best receiver at the senior bowl against some top corners. I think it's likely that he's always going to drop balls, but less than his rookie year or he'll obviously be out of football. I don't think it was some sort of complex mental condition, but many other people do. Hope I'm wrong and the magic wand makes him catch everything this year. I was yelling at the TV for them to grab Smith-Schuster last year, similar speed to Zay (4.5 range) but the kid got huge separation and seemed to play faster than Zay. If Allen turns out to be good, Zay could climb the ladder with him.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition
Da webster guy replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's all about training camp, although it does seem to be a majority of retired NFL qb's like Warner, Aikman, Gannon etc. that say rookie qb's should get at least half a season on the bench, preferably a full year. I still think the home game in week 9 against the Bears will be the kid's first game. -
I always call Castillo 'The Guy Who Has Naked Pictures of Kim Pegula with Vlad Ducasse" There's no other explanation for that guy to be around, he's got something on somebody.' But seriously, I will say that Vlad made some strides last year. Is it possible to have him lock that spot down with above average play this year? Can John Miller slide back to the left and compete with the rookie for the LG spot? I do think Groy is going to kill it this year. He's so ready to be a full time starter, could be allen's center for the next 5 years.

Pats versus board members
Da webster guy replied to KW95 - JA17's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bill is pissed about Garropolo and he's retiring when Brady does. Doesn't care about grooming a new dude, wants to eek out two more seasons and hand a mess over to McDaniel so he can fail again miserably like he did in Colorado, and like Weiss did, and Crennel, and Mangini and now Patricia in Detroit. When you're untethered to Brady it's amazing how UN-GENIUS you become. Bill cares about Bill. He drafted accordingly. . -
Mel Kiper Draft grades:. Bills only team with an A.
Da webster guy replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
come and see me in 1000 days and maybe by then we'll know. we did what we absolutely had to do. Get a top qb prospect and a LB. Can't wait to watch these new kids at camp. Watching Allen throw in person is quite impressive they say. -
Tyrod Taylor turning heads in Cleveland.
Da webster guy replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we used clevelands pick to get Edmunds, but your point remains legit. Tyrod was fun to watch but painfully inconsistent. Great guy, good riddance. -
4th through 7th round of draft is not for filling needs
Da webster guy replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Logic is representing the point well here. Its almost always bpa on day three, the odds are long that anyone picked this deep will make the team at all, much less be a game changer. Every spot could use depth, every team is just pulling the trigger on the guys that can come into camp and possibly surprise everyone. -
Why didn't NE make a move for a QB in Rd.1???

and they have zero pass rush which cost them the superbowl -
The Bills don't need a WR.
Da webster guy replied to The Bills Blog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know what you're saying but man the guy really stood out from everyone else last year in camp. At least for the practices i saw. Too bad he got injured. He's got perfect size (6'3) and he will go over the middle. Has over a hundred catches and 10 TD's, it's not like he doesn't know how to play. I agree with the OP here, I think a rookie will have a tough time cracking the top 4. Possibly a pure speed guy as a role player. Otherwise get me a steal at RT or a swing guard. -
There is zero proof that Josh Allen has 'poor football IQ'.
-
Josh should sit for at least the first half of the season. Also they'll factor in how well the AJ or Peterman is playing, how the Oline is protecting and who the opponent is for his first start. We underestimated the Chargers pass rush with Peterman and threw the kid to the wolves. Won't make the same mistake twice. I'd circle the week 9 game at home against the Bears as a good place to unleash the kid.

Saquon Barkley sounds so much like Thurman
Da webster guy replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eli has to be begging for this dude. If they go Chubb or a backup qb he's gonna get carried off on a stretcher next year. -
This morning on WGR they had Jordan Palmer on. Despite swearing to God I would never listen to one more word about the stupid draft until it's over, I found his take on Josh Allen very interesting. He said keep in mind that completion percentage is very different between certain players when you consider the offenses they played in. For example Baker Mayfield threw to wide open receivers on more than half his throws last year while Josh Allen's film showed his receivers had very little separation. He also said you should add 6 to 10 points on to the completion percentage of a quarterback who runs the type of offense that Allen did when compared to an offense like Mayfield's. His logic is that there are a lot of very high completion plays such as bubble screens, smokes, quick slants, even shovel passes that many other offenses run but Allen's didn't. These are easy throws that inflate stats. He went on to say that despite Josh Allen playing in junior college three years ago, the guy is mature and has a magnetic personality, great teammate and he was very high on him being successful in the NFL. He compared his personality to Fitzy. If we do end up taking the kid, I suggest you go play the clip of the interview on the GR website, it will keep you from walking into the lake.
